Again jumping to conclusions instead of interpreting why I claim that it’s important that the game needs to be visually appealing to the audience. I’m not saying because I couldn’t do a link combo in DS I’m going to cry and say the game isn’t good. The game is good, I’m justifying why it’s a niche and while you can deny it all you want, it’s a niche.
I think you’re trolling, but I’ll roll with it. The input has nothing to do with it, no one is watching you press FA forward/back dash. Knowing that there’s only specific moves and most having to FADC very early in the move, makes the spectator identify the purpose of making it safe after immediately knowing it’s a mistake. You basically proved my point that RC’s are more complex, while more engaging to the fighter, is more complicated to follow as a spectator as I feel like I need a manual just so I don’t look like a dumbass while watching it.
I’m not bashing Air dashers that are non-capcom, as I play Aigis in P4A, I’m saying the game is difficult to understand as someone who’s never played the game before. Completely understandable that this is a “agree to disagree” situation but I’m giving it from what a casual perspective is. I remember trying to teach some people that came to play in my campus P4A, and no one unless they had knowledge of a fighting game, could really understand anything other than mashing auto-combos. Status elements, Blue/Gold Burst, OMC/OMB combined with every character displaying a unique trait (No one really understood how sometimes Aigis was stupid fast and other times I’d lame them with bullets.). People enjoy a diverse cast, but for someone to follow and understand the game it’s easier for a casual to understand if most have basic elements. I love air dashing games, but honestly the only one I could really understand was P4A. I tried watching Arcana Heart and Guilty Gear and they were a bit more complex for me to immediately hold my attention.
Marvel has entertaining combos that last forever, like one big QTE. You don’t need to be a wizard to see someone is beating someone down for 20 seconds. When you see constant trap setups and awkward resets, it’s harder to identify them. As a FG player like you and I, it’s not really hard, I’m saying for the other millions of casuals who just buy the game for fan service and button mashing.
While buying DS:R has nothing to do with a DS4, actions (especially throwing money at something) always speak louder than words, so from the business side it’s still more relevant than a petition and forum posts begging for it.
Eh, as much as I like Darkstalkers and would love to see a DS4, it gets to a point where it’s like…I already bought this shit a long time ago. If that’s not enough then fuck them and their game.
As much as I like the idea of Capcom looking at the possibilities of bringing back old franchises, im not going to bend over and take it to get the games I want out of a company…the sad thing is…to many gamers are willing to do that.
I didn’t say buying DSR was but people dicksucking Capcom and loyally buying every game/DLC there is to get in hopes it will sway Capcom into making their desired game is(yes there are people who think this way…im not kidding). Sorry if I wasn’t specific.
You really think someone can follow whats going on in blazblue and guilty gear if they can follow MvC3? In MvC3, if you do a move, it hits simple. In GG and BB, you got status changes, different mechanics, sub character mechanics on top of mechanics, game has so much shit going on screen that the subtlety of a roman cancel would go right over peoples heads. No casual can follow these games for shit.
Melty blood is different, but the game is niche
Come on, your really delusional if you think that. Even Vsav can be difficult to watch because of the nature of the game, insanely fast mixups, and seemingly fundamental defying moves.
I wonder how much capcom wanted a game so old to sell to warrent them making a sequel anyway? More people likely know the roster from crossovers than their own game which is pretty damn sad.
It would have to be some unreasonable amount, 1.5 to 2 million downloads is my guess for them to even start production.
I say this in mind of Capcom turning DS from a niche franchise into a bloated premiere triple A title that should sell around 2 or more million copies from a estimated sales projection.
The more I think of this…the angrier I get at Square for wanting I think 6 million for Tomb Raider in the first month…smh
I didnt buy it because I dont own a PS3 or Xbox360.
I would have bought it if it was released on PC.
I mean Capcom released on Steam Dungeons and Dragons: Shadow over Mystara.
It was expensive too!Might buy it for 1/3rd the price.
Darkstalkers Resurrection should really have cost the same. I am content with GGPO till then.
I support a DS4 but Capcom are too lazy, resting on their withered SF4 laurels, to seriously develop a worthy franchise. Maybe next decade
This game should not be made, sorry but it’s the truth. No one in the US plays the DS games, even in the 90s no one touched it. Resurrection was a huge mistake on capcom’s part and in fact down right irresponsible as a business move. Regardless of the fact that you like the game or not, you can’t dispute it was stupid of them to release the game and meet their expectations.
What they should do, if they are really interested in a DS4, is to continue creating versus games and introduce the DS characters that way. Once the characters have become recognizable to the general public, then release DS4.
The fuck is wrong with rereleaes and ports being released? Not everyone was around during the time for these games and being released on consoles makes it easier for people to play the games.
Darkstalkers has always been a franchise that people claim to be a classic and the greatest ever but yet when you look at the GGPO queue it’s always empty. For Darkstalkers Ressurrection to be not successful is something Captain Obvious could have told Ono, so the fact that he was even pushing for a Darkstalkers 4 shows how out of touch he is and how arrogant he got after SF4’s success.
