Did anyone pick up Doom III yet? If so just a couple of questions!

1.Your thoughts on the game for one.

2.In the collectors ed it includes doom 2 and another old school doom. Are those online compatable as well?

  1. Linear. I give it 5.5 out of 10. Graphics are amazing but that novelty wears off in the first hour.

  2. Doom 1 and Doom 2 are both live enabled. The modes are co-op (up to 4 players) and deathmatch.

I think this game is a definite rental IMO!!!

If you had fond memories of Doom and Doom 2, then hell yes, buy Doom 3.

If you’re expecting HALO 2’s diversity, you’ll be disappointed. Doom 3’s graphics are pretty damn close to the PC version in quality, and while the visuals, atmosphere and enemy design is spectacular, don’t expect a major revolution in gameplay. It’s basically your classic Doom corridor crawl with a monstrously souped up graphics engine.
The XBOX version does have a Co-op mode through the campaign over XBL, and that definately ramps up the value, but the multiplayer online maxes out at 4 players. It works in it’s own way, but it’s hardly gonna replace Rainbow Six or Halo2.
What you do get is very pretty package and there are some truly wicked moments in the game that must be seen. If you’re gonna buy it, get the Collector’s pack…Ultimate Doom and Doom 2 with co-op is worth the extra $10.
If you’re looking for a balls-to-wall action fest(Unreal,Halo), you might wanna wait a coupla weeks for Unreal Championship 2:Liandri Conflict, but otherwise, Doom 3 has enough to be entertaining for a while. The campaign takes 15-20 hours on average if you’re wondering about length
