Dictator Combo Thread: He rules with an Iron Fist...of Energy!

C.LK x 3 Scissors combo sucks in general, it’s best to learn C.LP, S.LP, C.MK xx Scissor Kick. It’s a much easier link and does more damage. It’s basically his Bread and Butter.

Tip:

  1. Hold Down/Back for the C.LP

  2. Hold Back while doing the S.LP

  3. Then hold D/B for the C.MK

If you mess up the C.LK link it’s very easy to get DP reversal’d too.

How can I trust you? You don’t even play this game!

edit
Oh, wow, didn’t see lilouke up there. Thanks!

You absolutely need to know c.LKx3/x4 … you’re honestly playing a gimped version of Bison if you can’t do it reliably.

synikaL, the reason why c.lkx3 xx scissor is so important is because it starts off of c.lk, which is a low attacking 3 frame normal. the fastest startup for a normal move in the game is 3 frames. furthermore, when you crouch tech with c.lk+c.lp, you get c.lk. you can therefore combo into clkx3 xxscissor off of a crouch tech if they try to walk forward a bit too long to throw.

c.lp, st.lp, c.mkxxscissor is indeed easier to do but because c.lp is a 4 frame starting normal you aren’t guaranteed to always be able to use it. when you play more you will notice that 1 frame can make a big difference. although definitely, you should try to go for c.lp, st.lp, c.mkxxscissor whenever possible because yes it does do more damage. eventually you might want to use other combos but these two really are pretty good.

if you need help to practice the timing of c.lkx3 scissor, go google onlinemetronome and set it to 160. keep tapping this until the rhythm is burned into your brain. it is the correct rhythm you need to press the c.lk. after i practiced this for a few weeks i barely drop this link unless i’m nervous.

btw, a (relatively easy) no charge combo i use sometimes, ie. i didn’t expect to cross up but i did, is c.lp, close st.lp, st.lk, st.hk., or st.lkx3, st.hk. substitute st.mk for st.hk if you are too far and st.hk is whiffing. it is a sucky damage combo but it is easier to do. there are harder ones that are better, of course.

note that c.lp, st.lp, st.lk, c.mk is very distance dependent and will only work in close range.

Both combos are important because people like to stand block if you don’t do cr.lk so when you do cr.lk x3 they might get hit by it for free. Also off an OS tech you should do cr.lk combos unless you like 1 frame links. Cr.lk combos also give you the freedom to do headstomp shenanigans.

If you have trouble with getting far s.lp off cr.lp xx s.lp then you can go for 100% consistency with cr.lp xx s.lp -> s.lk xx lk scissors. S.lk has crazy combo range and is 1 frame faster than cr.mk.

Hah, this might be one of the single best pieces of Bison advice I’ve ever read.

I had done something similar (recorded a proper c.LKx4 and looped it), I never thought to try a metronome…

Thanks again. Didn’t expect such elaborate responses. Gonna have to look into that metronome.

Marlon, I knew I couldn’t trust you :stuck_out_tongue:

c.LP s.LK c.mK > c.LP s.LP c.MK

Have fun getting DP’d :stuck_out_tongue:

For whatever reason, Bison can chain cancel his jabs into his c.lk or s.lk. So any jab->short string is a true blockstring if done fast enough.

That’s not specific to Bison, any move that is chainable can chain into any light move, even if the move it chains into is not chainable.

Erm, that would mean you could chain c.LP into any of Bison’s moves.

c.LP s.LK is a true blockstring. There is no DPing

Edited.

Hey! I was just following Valle’s advice, he said the link is easy for people to get reversal’d,and scales quite a bit, so he didn’t recommend it. It was in one of those tutorial stream things.

lol Fine Kimosabee, do w/e you want. :arazz:

any OS ability from this point??

and BTW how to deal with rose slide?? those things are nasty and does rose have kare throw too??
I just meet a dirty rose today.

Rose doesn’t have a kara throw, her throw range is just that good

If you block the slide at the very tip she’s +1. Fortunately you have a 3 frame cr.lk. Honestly you can just do cr.lk afterwards unless she ultras, does EX Spiral, or throws you.

In terms of not getting hit with pokey slides, use s.mk instead of s.hk. The real bitch is her cr.mp.

After drills it’s kinda safe to do cr.lk. Drills can be punishable or safe depending on distance, so just respond with cr.lk xx scissors if you’re not sure.

well later I know it was lag which cause some problem his rose is good but is not that bad to read, worst thing after that is I met a really good Rufus (over 12k BP, 4kPP, total over 48k) maybe best rufus I ever fight, and very good ken/dic player (kog or something.

that was great fight, it was like forever to get out from dive kick, and ken kara hell.

I still don’t have guts to plink the c.lkx3/x4, I can do that in training, but always drop it on the very key moment when I need them most. c.lpx3 into c.lk I rarely miss unless I am not so sure what they do and they have meter.
my love one is c.mp into c.lk or j.hp c.lpx2 c.lkx2, normally c.lk x2 the LAST c.lk will hit and chained.

By ALL MEAN, Dam those shoto, I was like having PTSD to just remember all my c.lk get hit by reversal DP/ or FADC into Ultra, I mean for real, every time I c.lk a KEN/RYU I was sit on my own feces and if they got Ultra I WANT TO grab them (if they sit next to me) and kick them in the ball and ask them how they feel when I see them attempt to mash those ultra out while I was busy on my own works.

In the Rose match I find when I block a well spaced Spiral my c.lk gets beaten out by her c.mp.

I have to block a lot up close against Rose and use my EX wisely when I think she’s going to follow up a spiral with her c.mp.

First page not updated in years so I’ll ask, what no-charge punish combos you guys use? Besides the tight cr.LK 4x, SK FADC, cr.LK 3x SK MK (152 dmg) here’s what I found in a short training mode session:

st.LK 2x, HK (156 dmg) - probably the easiest 1 frame link
cr.LP 2x, st.LK, cr.LK, SK LK (158 dmg) - not sure if it pushes you out more than cr.LK 4x
cr.MP, HK (200 dmg) - great damage, hard to find the timing probably just needs practice

The best thing is you don’t need meter for these, I rarely see these used though I’m a new Bison player.
