Dhalsim Video Thread

@LuckyD

I’m referring to standing light kick followed immediately by a back light kick. There’s just too much frame advantage for the opponent to do much of anything between the hits. I see you doing it a video that you posted.

Hey, I just got a vid of me losing to a Bison in a brazilian tounament. I need help in this matchup, cause I have no one who mains Bison to play casuals.

I went 1-2 in the tournament, yeah, no good… Lost the first match to a Ryu/Dhalsim player that got 2nd (he used Ryu against me), nothing unusual, the guy is very good… I beat another Ryu player in losers, than lost to this Bison.

I know my execution sucks and I was not confortable with the setup there, but I think I lost cause I didnt know all the options in every situation, and I choose poorly in some exchanges. If some of you guys can give me some advice, I’d be thankfull.

Played a session against a Chun from my community yesterday, ended up losing most of the games. I really struggle with this match-up, would be great to get some pointers

. Goes all the way to part 10, not expecting you to watch it all

Things I already know I have to work on: using best possible punishes, not canceling mk to yoga flame when it won’t hit/will be blocked, need to get downt he range where rh. slide can punish kikoken

Any tips would be greatly appreciated

Needs more anti-air. So many jump ins on you and you either blocked, slid, or got hit. Also more utilization of standing short since there was obviously alot of FADC spam going on. Not punishing correctly when the chun was L3 FA whiffing (should have been using s.HP in alot of the situations I saw for more damage). Alot of jumping forward was not working in your favor. IMO almost too much jumping.

only watched one part but it looked ok!

member though chuns jump ins prety much trade with all of sims anti airs at good distances, so slide is my fav anti air in this match

also work on not crouch teching when she does the flip kick thingy

nice though!

I was gonna suggest someone make an account for it publicly and give it out to members who have been here a while. I don’t normally post here just giving a suggest. I use this for everything. Nicovideo that is.

Yeah, that’s why I’m not doing too many knees or b.mps. gotta be lucky for them not to trade. Just gotta work on this match-up, I’m frikkin horrible at dealing with focus attacks. Will try using st.short more, thanks guys

LuckyD you should watch the others also for more input. Your first vid was actually not too bad. Also my AA comment was a bit flawed, I dont play that many chuns often so I forgot the trade ratio, but even so some of your attempts were still timed wrong so she outright stuffed you.

-u could have done alot of b+HK , the knee attack on bison, each time bison stomps you, including ex version, with a bit of timing, u can knee him, if he does devil reversal, u could knee him too, no point jump mp. This is quite crucial , once u do that they will not stomp u anymore. try that out with someone…

-also after mummy hit the physco crusher , u could do yoga inferno.
-one of the yoga catastrophe is kinda wasted as u did not do anything after it hits…
i know tourny can be quite stressful, just some tips, hope it helps.

Did you mean b.mp?
Using b.hk is too difficult also to get a trade.
Remember that hk slide hit every punch stomp.

If he does a kick stomp you can instantly lk slide, then he’ll whiff and you can bnb him.

That mummy was unintentional, and I was so surprised that conected I was not ready to do super…

I really need some specific training against Bison. When I see headstomp, I can react with nothing but block…Even if I know some counters in theory, I only remember them when I watch the video after the loss…

A problem I have against Bison is when I block Psycho Crusher, I never know if I have frame advantage or not after. I was trying to throw him, and it worked sometimes, but once I got combo’ed for it I didnt knew what happened.

And yeah, I was a little nervous, there are very few tournys here in Brazil, hard to get used to.

Thanks for the tips!

Yo D,

I think you probably would have had Min, minus a handful of unsafe teleports. Those looked like attempts to create offense that may have worked on lesser fighters. Hopefully those announcers will give you a little more respect next time… and stop d-riding.

Solid match against Gat. How is it that you cleanly aa his elbow? For me, it’s 50/50 whether it’s clean or a trade. You know something about the range?

Solid match against blanka. Only real unsafe thing I saw was in the last round after your bnb>>super. That teleport set-up could have been punished by ultra or ex-rainbow. Even with full life I’d be a little hesitant, his ultra is sick.

Real good $hit.

Here’s a video taken of my Sim vs an Akuma player. Any criticisms are welcome.

Nice use of the b.HK, good stuff. I need to get more used to using the BNB into fireball. Good watch!

Man you played aggressively against that akuma, when I usually play like that against akumas they just shoryu me from the teleports all the time. Or if they’re on recovery like they should I mess the combo from j.b+HP to b+MK and they shoryu me. Really good sim man.

Thanks, I agree on the aggressive play. I generally have quite a reserved play style. I guess I was just doing what I was getting away with.

Dude, you were getting away with EVERYTHING.

Shawn, you’re the only Sim I recall seeing that IATs into b+hk to start your b&b. Interesting… I’m gonna have to sample around with that. That Akuma was decent, but didn’t use teleport nearly enough imo.

It does more stun and damage at the cost of 2 frames (i think?) more startup. I mix it up, but my instinct is to use B+HK for kick teleport because I feel like the teleport resolves a tad faster(I could be wrong). I generally try to use b+HP for punch teleport. Again, this is just the way things work out for me, I’m not sure that there’s a good reason for any of it.

Ya, the recovery period is less with kick tele.
I don’t like jb.hk in most cases b/c it pushes the opponent further away than jb.fp and it doesn’t overhead.
