Does anybody know if Sims fire goes fullscreen now? Are any of the drills/mummy safe on hit or block?
would sim be to strong if his fireballs went full screen?
It would be nice if his EX was faster to travel, but I don’t know if they all need to go full screen again like they used to. It gives 'sim a bit more uniqueness that they don’t. He used to be just as good in FB duels as the shotos, and it seems that they’re trying to remove that equality so he’s forced to rely on limbs more.
I wouldn’t complain, but I don’t know if he needs that any longer.
I’m dying to hear more about changes to Sim. Especially with Ultra II. Can it grab out of the air? I’m thinking that’d be too good, so it probably doesn’t.
I’m fairly certain it only grabs opponents on the ground.
lp fire full screen isn’t bad but mp and hp might be much since they knock down, although certainly not as hard to ask for as ST drills or something. Actually come to think of it it’s not like you can do much from it. Full screen knock down means nothing as there’s no juggles and quick stand means it’s not a free iat mixup. So meh. I’m actually alright with his fire range, hp could be better.
**Sim being able to backthrow people into Yoga Catastrophe.
**
Overpowered?
I can’t see any decent players being thrown into the ultra, but it sounds fun.
Given the logistics required to make that happen, why not? It would be like a 1 in 100 event.
Although a Necro-esque command throw would facilitate it… Ultra > Teleport > Command throw (over 'sim and into the ultra)
I can dream, right?
If throw tech stays easy then back throw to ultra shouldn’t be op. Also, you probably wouldn’t get the damage from the throw since that comes from hitting the ground, so it wouldn’t add any new damage, presumably.
And we had that idea already so
I’d love more hit and blockstun on those drills. I used to abuse them so much in the days of SF2 but now they are only good for positioning.
Do understand that too much stun on the drills will make Dhalsim into Rufus though. … Hmmm. I could live with that.
And I know it’s not gonna happen at this point, but I would still love Dhalsim’s voice actor to have an Indian accent.
Curious how 'sim is going to do against the just announced 3S characters. Makoto’s charges likely have priority on limbs, Ibuki will be hard to keep out, and Dudley… maybe more fireball pressure?
What tools will 'sim have to rely on in each fight to have a chance?
I think Dhalsim is going to need a more offensive based gameplay to deal with all of these new characters. The games Dhalsim were strong in were the ones where he could keep people out as well as he could fuck them up with offense and pressure. Dhalsim in SFIV is mostly defensive based due to shitty dive kicks, low damage BnBs and some other more superfluous things like a weaker wake up game without meter. In ST Dhalsim without meter could just keep characters hella locked down. Even in Alpha 3 his basic pressure was stronger than SFIV’s. If Dhalsim is the same deal in SFIV just trying to keep everyone out and not being able to turn things around after a large health deficit without winding the game down to 1 second on the clock…he is not going to be having a good time in Super. Luckily Seth has been saying Dhalsim is one of the early possibilities for top tier and I think that’s mainly because his offensive game has been buffed hard. Better dive kicks, better combo opportunities etc. So now he’ll be able to zone like usual though his offense won’t be so free to reverses and backdashes.
I mean Sabin always used to complain about Rufus and basically the main reason is that Rufus can just not give a fuck that Dhalsim exists. If he gets within hittable range of Sim with dive pressure he’s looking for an early grave already. Most of Dhalsim’s offensive game plan can be easily option selected once Rufus gets in that range. Then when Rufus gets meter you can’t do much without risking getting EX jesus kicked or snake striked. Plus if you are getting a health lead Rufus can turn it around on a dime. Dhalsim at a deficit usually will just stay at a deficit against a character like Rufus and even if he comes back will still easily die to a character with much better combo opportunities, offensive pressure and ultra setups.
^^^ pretty much sim NEEDS to have a good drill game to stand a chance in this new atmosphere…
all of the characters announced are non fireballers that look to not really give a fuck about people “trying” to keep them out.
-dime
why not? They need to get in to attack without a fireball…I don’t see why zoning wouldn’t work on them.
Mainly because once they get in Sim doesn’t have much to keep them out in Vanilla SFIV and Sim will not survive in a game in his current low health low damage dealing state against characters that will rape his life. He needs to be able to do some of that back to them or he is just going to be fighting a losing battle all the time. C.Viper and Rufus are already good examples of characters that show off Sim’s glaring weaknesses and abilitiy to turn things around. Mostly relying on staling the match out to win unlike his older games where he was much more dynamic depending on the matchup.
Even Sabin thought Dhalsim was an underwhelming lower tiered character in Vanilla SFIV and he just won’t last in his current state when even grandmasters of the character see his big faults. In a game where most of the new cast is going to have high damage and be thrown into a game that by default is said to be more based on offense…Sim better have some extra ammo in the bunker. Zoning solely to win in Super SFIV is not going to be a hot idea if things are going to work out the way they are hyped.
^ yeah, if sim doesnt get major changes i dont think hell be a competitor in SSF4. Pretty much he has too hard of a time as is in Vanilla 4. Not quite Guile/Vega/Fuerte level but he’s almost there. We’ll see in a few months if anything has changed from the Vegas build, I really hope so, otherwise I’ll probably end up switching characters.
Aye, pure keep away is going to be pretty rough it seems. At this point I’d suggest that he’s going to need a little of his ST style offense to return. Faster drills, including multi-hit drills (like Necro had) would be useful against focus attacks.
Sigh, so what Seth said was bs about Sim being higher tier in super?
I didn’t realize you had tried the Vegas build, all I’ve seen on sim up to this point is his new ultra…
Can you shed some light on what changes/improvements were made on Sim, if any? or maybe the general direction he’s headed (sounds like into the gutter)
All these new characters seem designed to ruin Dhalsim’s life. I really hope they tweak Sim extensively because otherwise it’ll be like fighting Rufus / C. Viper in 75% of the match-ups.
