Yes that’s the main purpose I was assuming it would have (just like Ryu c/MK into Hadouken which pushes back quite a bit on block)
i think all sim really needs is one or two more inv frames on his ex up flame to stop it from always trading. and one of his anti air normals needs a hitbox tweek or to be made a frame faster so he has a way to deal with dive kicks, and jump ins with dive kick like hitboxes.
that is all. a good sim is really really hard to get in on without a dive kick, and thus improving his close game can swing him towards top tier real quick
1st thing everyone should know is sim has pretty much been announced as nerfed. The moment they said they want to make the game more rush down oriented sim was indirectly nerf.
Characters like adon, juri and guy counter him badly. how are you going to keep a character like juri who has a counter that closest the distance extremely quick. AKA no normals… Adon who you won’t be able to throw a fireball against or risk getting jaguar kicked from full screen if Sim keeps his fireball with its horrid recovery. And Guy who well be rolling pass fireballs like this is a snk game?
Who knows what new tools the other characters will have, Sim needs alot of help. Not just minor tweaking.
EX yoga should come out lighting fast with inv on start up, it shouldn’t do much damage at all however and should push back slightly on block as well be somewhat safe. EX up should punish all jump in’s and be invur the whole time the flame is on the screen.if its missed time or used wrong the recovery should be a lil worst than it is now.
Am i crazy you say?
No EX up flame is not going to be used offensively, ex up flame is strictly a defensive move. Sim has awesome normals that do the AA trick just fine, ex flame should be for those moments when you want to guarantee that a jump in of any sort is not going to happen. And if you guess wrong you get punished for free.
ex yoga flame i’d like see used a weak punisher up close, some that you can throw out when boxer is mashing on jabs with you in the corner etc etc.
Sim also could use a teleport to the other side of the screen.
The thing with this is if that do give him this option, some other things I suggest I would prob either remove or tone down.( granted this depends on how much stronger offense becomes on SSF4)
b mk+flame/fire…why is this so ridiculous to link, its not hard but its just stupid that its not a true block string. Boxer head butts me/ultra/supers me through this 80% of the time.
slide super/fire/flame should be viable. and not some crazy 1 frame link dependent on distance.
yoga fire… reduced the “lag” ( I forget the proper term) after all yoga fire.
Ultra… I’m not sure what can be done about it, but getting thrown out of a ultra is ridiculous.
from seth killians comment maybe sim has already got something special :o
Well, his normals don’t lose to divekicks because they are too slow. Most of the time they lose because of the awkward timing of the dive (they pause in the air for a moment, allowing Sim to miss). But moves like Zangief’s j.MK beat Sim’s normals by raw priority.
If EX upflame worked better it would be less of an issue. First of all, it should be 1 hit so you always get the full damage if it connects (a decent 100 instead of a pitiful 50). Also, it shouldn’t trade with Akuma’s air fireballs. It should just absorb the fireball and stay lit so that it actually antiairs him instead of Sim eating combo of choice.
Another random thought I had, he should have a larger throw range (it’s currently average). I mean, isn’t that just traditional for him anyway, lol.
I agree with this actually.
lol sim with a command throw with range would be sweet
better throw range would be sweet. helps his close game without speeding him up
More health, obviously. I’m tired of getting my health drained away with one or two short combos from Abel or Ryu.
Make him less floaty. If he jumps, he should come down a little faster than what he does now.
lol you want all your characters to have a health buff, eh?
Not all of them. Just Seth and Dhalsim.
Sim definitely needs a health buff. While it is extremely hard for me to beat him (I play Sakura), if I get close to him just once, it’s pretty easy and pretty fast to get a Stun and 90% life of him.
If Dhalsim’s getting a health buff at all, it shouldn’t be more than 50 more HP. There should be a penalty if his opponent gets in and that’s Sim’s shitty up-close game+low health/ stun.
I believe still the best suggestions in this thread come from UltraDavid and Sabin. I don’t really want Sim to be much better up close (though he definitely needs some buffs in that department too). What I want is for him to have better tools to deal with his opponents while playing the keep away game.
In my opinion, the reason Dhalsim is low tier in this game is twofold:
a)he lacks the tools to deal with many rush down characters who can easily maneuver and get in to do damage. (Akuma, Viper, Chun-Li, Abel, Rufus…which are all 3-7 match-ups for Sim)
b) he lacks the tools to come back after being at a health disadvantage.
Another issue is that, other than IAT mixups and IO j. fierce / Ultra shenanigans, he doesn’t really have any way of offensively approaching his opponent. He has to wait and react to what his opponent does accordingly. Which means that there’s a ton of match-ups in which his opponent can literally just sit at the other side of the screen and chill and run the clock, specially characters like Balrog, Gief, Bison and Blanka (but pretty much every character can be trouble if he just stops doing anything). Again, Sim has ways around this. The problem is that they are all incredibly risky.
I don’t really mind Sim’s having shitty defense up close, or being vulnerable to cross ups, or having such low stun. In my humble opinion, what I mentioned above are Sim’s biggest problems.
Again, I mostly agree with UltraDavid in that Sim’s limbs should do more damage and stun. In fact all of his normals should do more damage and stun, because as it stands now, you can hit characters like Rufus, Balrog or Gief 5 times with st. Fierce and you’ve basically the same amount of damage they can do to you with a simple 2in1.
Yoga Blast has to fixed, bad. EX should never, ever trade with any jump-in. I mean, like fucking never. It should have a bigger hit box, it should have more invincibility, it should come out faster. Regular Yoga Blast is completely useless, as it is now. Some have suggested that it could be used in some sort of juggle combo, and I agree, that’d be really cool. Maybe it could juggle when canceling it off a successful b. strong AA? Regular Yoga Flame should come out faster and have a bigger hitbox. b. MK into flame should always combo on hit. EX should do more damage and stun and also combo off b. MK.
TLDR: Sim’s keep away game should be buffed since his worst match-ups involve characters who can easily close the gap on him and kill him quickly.
Also, Sim’s ability to offensively pressure his opponent / come back should be improved.
Dhalsim’s Ultra being throwable isn’t a good thing. That’s one of the first things that need to be tweaked.
Dhalsim is one of those characters that I think deserves most buffs the players want for him. A wee bit more health, a better Yoga Blast and DEFINITELY more stun on his far away normals. i mean, it’s pretty easy for an opponent to keep in a corner to let his stun count go down pretty fast anyways, so I don’t see what’s the problem and his moves having high stun.
I agree with everything. I always think Rufus and Abel are so hard battles cause these guys never DIE… you hit them all day and you lose in 10 seconds…
Dhalsim needs to have better damage output, and stun and a little bit of offense.
I’d like to have a safe on block jab flame, b. mk jab flame being a tight blockstring would be good too, to pressure people into make mistakes and do chip damage.
None of this would make Dhalsim overpowered, IMO. But I think he would be more balanced all around the cast (He would beat Ryu, but this is a good thing ).
And keep the low stamina and stun, of course, it’s all or nothing for Sim.
Please, please, pleaaaaase just make drills useful again.
And give him his alpha 3 air throw :badboy:
I actually hope they don’t improve him TOO much. Nothing is worse than having everyone tier whore your favorite character.
I think I’m taking a long shot in the dark here, but has Iyo ever made comments about tweaking Dhalsim?
Just make him like ST Dhalsim. Sick rushdown and zoning.
I read some of the improvent commets. 99% of them are ridiculus.
Its basically “Hey capcom make my main better”
Cool story bro.
