The building V Skill on whiff thing was confirmed in some earlier post or article I read, then further tested it during the beta and saw it was true. Makes it so just using it neutrally actually benefits your V Gauge now which makes more sense than having to land that low priority knee.
It also strengthens the knee as if you land the knee, you immediately build a bit of V Gauge before the knee even connects (it gives you that 1/10th as soon as you hit MP+MK), making the knee build slightly more meter than before also.
Hindu men wear turbans, like the one Dhalsim does. In urban areas, this is limited to special occasions like weddings and religious rituals. The Sikh turban, called a ‘Pagdi’ looks different.
Hindu marriage ceremony. The turban looks rounded.
A big part of Dhalsim’s style in SF4 was as a containment character. Poisoning a part of the screen rewards Dhalsim for being able to play containment - it puts the other guy in the situation where they are being actively punished for letting Dhalsim contain them.
It also reminds me of Yoga Inferno in that it’s way to make Dhalsim’s normally weak mix-ups pay off more. With Yoga Inferno, you put it down and suddenly an unreactable overhead/low mix-up does hundreds of damage. With V-Trigger, he puts a ton of white chip damage on you, and then if he runs a successful mix-up on you take a big chunk of damage.
Or combine V-Trigger and super: throw down V-Trigger and contain with limbs so that they accumulate white damage, build meter, then throw out super and try to kill them with the next mix-up.
So if he has cancelable stretch normals including a cancelable anti-air if not b.MP, I already have a set up I want to see/test:
-anti air
-cancel anti-air into Yoga Fire
-cancel Yoga Fire into VT
-(poke, EX Yoga Fire)x3
-instant overhead, which basically just did 200+ damage because of all the chip beforehand
Chun’s alt should have been her default design IMO, it looks awesome. Gief also should have also gotten more design changes even though his model looks great in this game.
As much as I wish he was changed more I must concede that it was the smarter marketing decision by Capcom to only make changes to Ryu’s default design be minor at most, as he’s featured in majority of the game’s marketing including the game’s box art due to being the most iconic character in the series. As his classic design easily recognisable by the general public it would not be a smart idea to heavily adjust it as it would be confusing for the casual audience.
Does anybody know how old Dhalsim’s son was in SF4? Cuz he looks 10 or younger in this game, but Dhalsim easily looks like he could be 60 or older.
I just remember how in SF4 there was a title of Dhalsim that said “For my son”. I think he might have been brought up in the story mode of SF4 also. But if we can determine how old he was, we could determine approximately when the game takes place. He seems to be our biggest hint so far in terms of chronology.
They really did spruce up his animations. Although I think I’m probably in the minority camp in preferring his old design (mostly because this one feels less unique, but also because he looks older than he should?)
His V-trigger definitely fits him, but the way his normals/specials work, it seems like he will be a lot easier to bulldog.
So how is Zangief supposed to go in on Dhalsim this time?
Sim still has the libms
He now has a flame carpet
He now has arced Yoga Fire and Yoga Catastrophe
He has a floating V-Skill
And his Yoga Flame has much more range vertically as well
Its too early to speculate about matchups , but its not necessarily bad for Zangeif if you factor his V-Skill and V-Trigger and how it may be used to counter Dhalsim. Zangief can just use his V-Skill and absorb Dhalsim limps to build V-Trigger than use it to drag Dhalsim close to him where he can do the damage.
