Yeah Flame starts up and recovers faster than IV. People just need to get used to it.
I hope Capcom will add more normals to him. He has far less than I originally thought. He really needs something like SFIV st.lk. That move is great in the mid range because you can pepper your opponents with it and react to jump ins.
This exactly. At that st.short range (That he doesn’t have in SFV) Sim really seems to struggle in this game. Tampa picked up on it immediately, and after that Sim was stuck in the corner with Bison pestering him from outsied of b.MK range:(
Has there been any other character that has had more normal moves added in an updated build of SFV? I really like the moves he has now, but he’s incomplete, IMO.
Wishlist:
More normals. At the very least neutral and back variants on all of his standing normals.
SFIV st.lk replacement. Make st.lp a whip like attack that hits at SFIV st.lk level with comparable frame data.
B.lk becomes a new overhead, if current st.lp isn’t, which I don’t think it is. More range on st.lk.
Either give Sim back Yoga Knee or make b.rh a scorpion kick. It won’t have as much range as current st.rh, but it should start up and recover faster. About the same range as Ken’s st.rh. Causes a CC.
SFIV d/df.lp brought back.
Short slide being special cancelable up to the 4th active frame.
A db.mk with as much range as b.mk. Special cancelable. 6F startup.
He needs a regular horizontal fireball imo. Even with all anti fireball stuff in the game, its still needed to establish any kind of ground game with the character. The arcing fireball just doesnt threaten people on the ground and is incredibly slow/avoidable. Only looks useful for setups.
Sim looks like he needs to be in the air much much more in this game. But his options out of the v skill float/teleport still don’t look too threatening? I don’t know. He doesn’t have yoga sniper in this game does he?
Of course its too early to say. I wanna see what Combofiend has to say about him.
While I don’t think Sim should be made in to SFIV version again, I agree with some of your suggestion. I really like the whip st.lp suggestion:P
Here are some changes I would have liked:
-Grounded far normals should be cancelable in to v-skill (They are not at all now, Ultra David confirmed)
-V-skill (Both grounded and air version) should be cancelable in to moves very fast. By this I mean: You don’t even notice that he is floating yet, before he can do a move.
These two changes combined, would make him able to zone much more effectively from far canceling blocked normals in to air normals by going through float.
Of course it needs to be considered if he should be able to cancel his close normals to v-skill if you are able to cancel his v-skill start up in to moves, because I could easily see this becoming a block infinite: b.MK xx V-skill xx Air flame, b.mk xx etc. (Ultra David says that air flame is + on block if done close to the ground.
can he shoot a fireball during his float? what angle does it shoot at?
pretty ridiculous to say he’s incomplete if we don’t have any idea how he plays, how he behaves in the air, and so on.
he doesn’t play in typical fireball wars b/c he has the tools to just float around and avoid them. looks like the low hp (or whatever it is) goes under fireballs anyway.
his job is to put slow hitboxes on the screen, just like marvel, and do it intelligently. all of his projcetiles avoid the anti-fireball stuff everyone has for a reason. i love the design.
Seems like people have to completely change their mindset with Sim. Be in the air all day/use your tools to control the air. Everything he has appears to be tailored towards getting them to come up to you.
Like Gouken, right? I actually agree with this. Right now, he doesn’t seem to have the tools to deal with fireballs, though someone said Yoga Flame starts up faster and is good against fireballs.
Cammy - dhalsim does fireball, do normal drill on reaction at any range.
Bison - dhalsim does fireball, do slide on reaction at most ranges.
Karin - dhalsim does fireball, do command dash into special move
Ken - dhalsim does fireball, do command run into step kick
Am I missing something here? How on earth is Dhalsim ever supposed to throw his fireball?
Good to hear the top Sims with the same opinions. So its not just a kneejerk reaction. This could work out well if Capcom hears this and buffs him up in time for release. I wouldn’t be surprised if Capcom just let him be trash for another 5 years again though.
