I am going to concede a few more changes on how the forum works by stickying a few more posts… If you have problem with this let me know. I’m trying to update as much as I can.
On a side note, my custom made hitbox “stick” ships next Wednesday. I’m going to be playing on it exclusively and I’ll be using it at Red Fight District.
found an awesome trick my fellow sim players, and BTW this is just unbelievable after an ultra 1 setup
its instant air teleport jab “which is an overhead” back short super
OK this is execution heavy, I MEAN HEAVY. but this is an over-head low combo so your opponent cant defend himself. Try it out guys and let me know what you think.
The problem is that most people will block high after a teleport, and not low.
Let me know if I understood:
The trick is to make the Teleport as close to the ground as possible, so is seems that it’s done on the ground right? On top of that you use a j.LP since the startup is fast to make an “instant overhead” after the almost-on-the-ground teleport. Is that right?
This might work wonders if you condition your opponent to defend low after your ultras, like using a couple ground teleports and c.MK xx Yoga Flame before you do the overhead one
So the other day I read Justin Wong’s article about how he practices using training mode. It seemed like a lot of advice was great but maybe not so suited towards Dhalsim players.
What do you guys think? Should I be spending hours in the practice room to get better, and if so what should I be doing? I really want to step my game up as a Sim player but I don’t really know what to ‘practice’. Right now I’m just playing matches to get experience that way.
It’s a simple fact that sitting in training mode and setting up ‘recordings’ and testing against them will improve your understanding of move properties and help to train you in the application of new techniques.
Any match your comfortable in your set ups with, which u1 is not usable. U1 is like the most viable ultra in the game, but if you have “set ups” or “gimmicks” with u2, alyways use it when you can.
Real quick anyone else think this? I use U1 against rufus UNLESS he picks u2, then i pick u2. Just alot of times I would see the jump and react with u1, only to have been baited by an instant dive kick so rufus is already touching the ground when i pop mine, then getting hit by u2 LOL
EDIT: Dont use u2 against shotos, there are no set ups LOL
Honda, Blanka, Vega and T Hawk are safe, because they all have their most common special moves shut down by ultra 2.
I also like to use ultra 2 in match ups where the opponent can’t change their trajectory in the air (burning kick, divekick etc), and isn’t too hard to escape from when in the corner. An example of this kind of character is Rose. I don’t find her hard to escape, and after fighting her u2 countless of times, I don’t think I need u1 to deal with it. An example of a character that I don’t like to use u2 against, even though he can’t change his jump trajectory, is Bison. I find u1 nice to have, if pressured too hard in the corner.
Generally you want to use u2 if either the opponent can’t avoid the ultra on reaction to the ultra flash in the air, is forced to jump at you during matches, can avoid u1 in many ways or if you just need a powerful punish.
Edit: I think you could use u2 against ken, since he can’t stop in the air with any of his tatsus as Ryu and Akuma can.
U2 in the mirror is terrible, IMO. The only time you will land it is against a very badly thrown fireball, or a drill > instant U2 setup. And that setup only works a few times. But Sim can easily be caught in his own U1 mixups.
U2 is mandatory against certain characters like Hawk and Honda, because you can punish any blocked Condor Dive or non-EX Headbutt with U2 for free. I find that if the character can’t change their jump arc, U2 is usually viable. If they can, then it can be harder to find places to land it. I use U1 when I know I will need it as a GTFOff me move, like Akuma, Viper, Cammy, etc. But I still use U2 a lot vs. Akuma and Cammy since they can be predictable and get caught with it.
Characters I would never even bother with U2 are like Juri, Ibuki, Viper, etc.
I’m starting to use U2 on my bad matchups, it really helps against Viper. A good Viper won’t let u outta the corner with U1 anyway.
Not to mention U2 is the only move that’ll make ppl respect your Dhalsim, because of damage. Everyone is playing all-out rushdown against Dhalsim because he’s doing weak damage now. One or two U2s in their faces will make them respect your game and you can go back to zoning.
