DG's Forum is live- please close thread no more updates here!

but u cannot say that… have u ever played them? have u ever played/saw every top players in every asian countries? u know, asia is not japan ,chi, kor…

come on… how do u know that the top thai player knows or not the alt guard? simple, u cant. U should go to their own countries (like DG does) to verify what u’r saying. U base ur opinion only on japanese top players and chinese top players. U dont know anything about other countries top players (and u said “all asian…”),right?

Emil knows NOTHING Fiol its pointless to debate with him. Listen man, Dune told me the top Thai players are EVEN with the Best 2002 players in Japan, so man seriously Emil knows nothing…the irony is a lot of these people whom he jockrides I actually am talking to lol.

I don’t have to play them to know that their metagame respects alternate guard, and that many times they put it to practice…

It is accepted that when people talk about “asia”, they refer to Japan, Korea, China and possibly Singapore and some others. I’m only referring to Japan, China, Korea for now.

Huh? How does that make sense?

I know the top players from the country and I watch their matches. In no match, did I ever see an attempt of alternate guard, and I see them fall for tick throws a lot. So…?

It’s obvious, their metagame does not have alternate guard in the equation…the only thing that deters them from attempting a command throw from time to time is the possibility that opponent will jump out and combo them, and NOT the existence of alternate guard.

Well,i dunno where u live but when we (at least in italy) talk about asia we are referring to kor, jap, chi, sin, thai, viet, etc
So ur statment is incorrect.
About the metagame thing, i’m not saying that they dont know about it but it’s not certain that 100% of ASIAN players (high level if u like) know about it. Maybe in Laos they dont know about alt guard but they might be good anyway…
Since for u asia is just 3-4 countries… i can stop talking about that with u.

but u’r talking only about what u see on youtube i guess (or 2df/ggpo)… u cannot tell about real life… if u know all japanese top players, please show me all their videos where they use alt guard …

but i want to know why for Emil Asia is just 3-4 countries… :chat:

Way to misunderstand.

You’re picking at something that is hardly of any significance. Whether it’s 100% of the top players or 99% of the top players makes no difference to the argument. Though even then, I’m pretty certain that of the players I group as high level, ALL of them know and apply alternate guard.

Obviously your request is extremely time consuming and not really important to the main point of the argument but in almost every match where some grappling is involved, you will see it being applied.

Youtube, Nicovideo, Youku and Tudou are some sites that host MANY kof videos…it’s probably a small fraction of all the matches played but why would the ones that aren’t recorded, somehow be completely different than the ones recorded? They aren’t really, aside from maybe the casual nature of those matches but that isn’t really relevant here.

Edit: Ok, the very first KCE match I looked up, has alternate guard used atleast once:

0:41 by Daimon

Very first KCE Kof98UM match I looked up, has it:

0:57 by Vice, 3:26 by Vice, 3:47 by Krauser

And btw, that second video especially, shows pure mastery of the game. The layers of the mindgames are extremely high

Fiol- Asia to Emil is three countries because thats all he sees on YOUTUBE…which clearly just means he’s VERY VERY IGNORANT…but isn’t that very obvious???

No, Asia to me is those three countries, because I’m only talking about those three countries and instead of me saying “Japan, Korea, China”, I will just say “Asia”.

I used to follow Singapore scene. You brought up some point about Thailand which was useless…yeah I don’t follow Thailand(aside of what Persona posted about them on CX) but I didn’t say anything about Thailand either way,

I also follow the Pakistan scene sort of. Pakistan is a generally very defensive country that will sit in the corner for the entire time waiting to crouch C, if they knew it would win them the match. The defensive style is effective but there isn’t much creativity and hardly any good offense going on, with the exception of some players like Mehtab. Funny thing is that Xiaohai called Pakistan’s style of gameplay “cheap”.

oh thank you for the videos. It doesnt seem too safe though, especially the one Krauser did… but maybe it’s just my opinion.

xD
i thought so, but i appreciate that he explained his reasons at least.

It’s NOT SAFE Fiol, and remember that’s one thing Emil fails to bring out, it’s not safe, and even Lecter and them said that in the videos I posted above, so it’s just plain risky all it is to it! It once again begs the question, if you know your opponent is gonna grab why are you using Alternate Guard? Why not use something else???

You notice still one glaring hole in Emil’s explanation Fiol- VIDEOS. Once again he ONLY judges based off videos…BIGGGG PROBLEM THERE. Most of the stuff I see in person you ain’t gonna see on videos because there are a lot of players out there that are virtual unknowns just because they don’t have youtube/video time. His world only revolves by what he can see on youtube/on a video. If they aren’t on a video of some sort then to Emil they don’t exist or are low level players. Emil still doesnt even get that videos don’t tell the whole story, hence you gotta play in person, but that’s a dead subject.

Uguishi for example is RARELY on videos of any kind, he does not like to be recorded, but up until someone said he’s the #1 player in Japan in 2002, no one would know about him.

Videos don’t tell you everything, and this is where Emil’s arguments ONCE AGAIN fall flat on their face but God I cannot wait till my forum is done, I dont have to deal with Emil ever again if I don’t have to because if anyone is gonna want SNK updates you won’t find them from me on this site, they’re gonna be on my own forum all it is to it, where Emil is NOT WELCOME.

Emil ruins everything!

It’s extremely safe and I explained why it is. The one Krauser did got beat out by an unexpected instant jump B by Vice but that jump B by Vice was very risky…he didn’t get punished for it.

Wow, you really are a neanderthal.

The reason why alternate guard is so effective is that it’s used when you are NOT SURE that your opponent will grab or not. How dense can you be?

If you KNEW (can’t know for sure but let’s assume you did), then alternate guard wouldn’t be the best thing to do since you wouldn’t be able to get a jumpin combo. Instead, you should just hop over the throw attempt and get extra damage from a jumpin combo. Alternate guard allows you to avoid grabs without having to jump out with a guess if you thought he was going to throw, because if you jump and he does close C after instead of a throw, you will eat the full combo from close C due to the vulnerability frames on jump startup…not to mention risk of being supered out of the air on reaction or airthrown.

Eh, ok…what are these “things” that you supposedly see from unknown players, that you don’t see from the best tournament players that do get video time.

Also, your argument can easily be used against you since you kept talking about how people that don’t go to tournaments (or just play online) shouldn’t be taken seriously compared to tournament players.

Also, you are confusing the idea of not being able to determine what’s going on in videos, with there existing things that you don’t see in videos. Whether or not there is somehow tons of “things you would never see” in non-recorded matches as opposed to recorded matches (which is highly unlikely) is totally unrelated to this topic.

Not sure why I keep trying to explain such elementary things to you, you can’t even read and your brain cannot process the information properly.

Just to be clear, the only reason I reply to your total nonsense is that if someone didn’t, then you would be misleading A LOT of people here about not just kof gameplay, but also the things I have been saying.

Bitch Bitch Bitch Bitch Bitch Bitch Bitch xx Infinity.

Have we nothing left but to celebrate the pedantism of Dark Geese and Emil?

I mean, it’s certainly entertaining to witness, but it is becoming quite loathsome and tiring — in reference to Dark Geese over Emil, that is. I’m not sure how to make a man forever post no more, but I feel that a private forum would save us the suffering of this spiteful spat sooner than never.

Trust me this private forum is almost finished I kid you not…but when it’s finished I will tell you all this much: MAKING FORUMS ARE A MAJOR PAIN IN THE ASS!!! And by me saying Private forum it’s like you say- NO EMIL ALLOWED.

MySQL, PHP, all this other crap is such a MAJOR pain to make happen just for Vbulletin alone…such a royal pain in the ass!!!

BTW here is my latest update:

Just wanted to let everyone know that the forum is up now in its beginning stages, so no more updates practically on this site for SNK games on my part:

I can now honestly hope this thread will cease to exist…

Just registered.

Seems like we need a name for the new forum. “lda-corporates.com” just doesn’t have that catchy ring to it, you know?

SNKworld.com

I still like RagingStorm.com

Yeah, that is a better title. You got Shoryuken and Dustloop. An attack that’s part of a series is a good move for a title. I never understood why Cyberfanatix was called cyberfanatix.

Because they’re fanatic…about teh cyber…!!!

Anyway registered. I guess we should start posing useful system info and all that for the respective games…
