same shit happened at the end of season one in 24, thats how epic 24 was in the FIRST season.

Seriously. I’d hate to be a writer for season 5 of this show. There’s just SO much Dex has to explain away. Right now, I’m thinking he’ll probably try to pin what happened on a Trinity copycat.
That last episode was not only jawdropping but it was heartbreaking.

I went to the season finale screening in westwood, everyone’s jaw dropped and you can hear an echo of “Holy Shit.”
Wow… I damn near shed a tear watching that last scene. I was still hoping that I wouldn’t see what I thought I’d see when Dex started walking towards the bathroom, but damn it the writers couldn’t end it so neat and tidy could they? Awesome season. Awesome finale. I cannot wait for next season. I cannot wait.

They’ll probably see the police station CCTV footage and see Arthur walking around the station then talking to Dex, figure out he was looking for Deb since his daughter didn’t finish the job went to her house she wasn’t in, so instead went to murder Rita before skipping the country.

I am doubtful they will pick up season 5 right after season 4, two or so years will have passed I don’t see how dexter could do everything.
Next Season Stuff
[details=Spoiler]Yeah, I think you’re right. The police will eventually have to notice that Arthur was inside the building and actually talked to Dexter. I remember in the episode they showed Batista looking at Dexter and Arthur. That might be an indication of what’s going to happen.
I noticed in Season 2 – like the first or second episode they had a really weird zoom-in on Doakes and we know what happened to him. Likewise with Season3 where they had a weird zoom-in with the Skinner (forgot his name) before they knew it was him.
Other thoughts: before trinity died he said “It’s already over” twice. I’m wondering if that meant for himself as he was going to die, and the other one was for Rita. In the first episode where they showed Trinity about to kill the woman in the bathtub, he said “It’s already over” etc.[/details]
There is a lot of stuff left hanging at the moment, I can’t see them starting 5 way after this. Although it would be interesting because everyone wants to know (now more than ever) if Dexter is going to be caught, or how he’s going to deal with things in the long run. If he’s going to become like Arthur.

Next season, there’s no need for a main villain like Ice Truck Killer/Skinner/Trinity etc IMO. Should focus more on dexter… and his inevitable fall. heh
I thought it was going to end the way it did before I saw the final episode but I dismissed it as “naawww…” and had forgotten all about it until I saw the end and I was like, “oh shi–!” September 2010 is much too far away.

I agree with the person who said that the next season doesn’t need any other central guest start. I think they’ve developed everybody enough that the main characters can drive the next season.
So no, no cannibalism. Although the books are REALLY interesting in their own way. Makes the TV show look like Dexter is a very sympathetic human being.
