Dexter Season 5: Sept. 6th With a New Trailer!

I’m surprised you’re all so pleased with the third season. It was alright, but definately not as good as the first two. If it doesn’t improve in the fourth season, I’ll probably stick a fork in it.

Although I can’t help but wonder if my opinion was affected by the way I watched them. The first two seasons I watched over the course of like a week. The third season I watched as each episode came out, over the full 12 weeks. Not to mention, midway through the third season I started watching Sopranos. Let’s face it, as good as Dexter is, Sopranos pretty much blows it outta the water. So I had something to compare S3 Dexter to, which may have made me dislike it.

Still, I feel that I wouldn’t have enjoyed it as much no matter how I watched it. A lot of it is coming off as corny now. The way Deb acts (and LOOKS; she’s too skinny). The visions of Dexter’s father. Back in the first two seasons when they had flashbacks, that was crucial information. Now these visions of Dex’s dad are just plain corny. I wish Dex would just talk or think to himself, as he does a lot anyway, and that’s always interesting. Basically they just need to focus more on Dex himself, as they did in the first season. More body counts, more Dex dealing with problems, more Dex doing anything, and less Deb/Dad/sidestory.

wow, can’t wait for 8-9 months for Season 4 (if it happens) to begin…

gdlk!

Yeah Showtime has already scheduled it for a fourth and fifth season.

Definitely agree with the visions part of things. However, I see the storyline of Deb looking into her dad’s CI files and finding out about Dexter’s mom, as was shown that she did have that file, then her learning that the Icetruck Killer was Dexter’s brother and shit just going downhill from there.

Two things that they may bring up in the next season as potential issues for Dexter beyond the above that are both based on trace evidence.

When he garrotted Miguel, they made a point of zooming in on Miguel’s right hand fingers breaking through the plastic wrap (that’s 1). There may be remnants of that that Dex didn’t remove and that could be discovered after they start looking into the fact that they will find blood (Dexter’s) at the site where he killed the Skinner and threw him down onto/in front of the incoming police car (that’s 2).

Edit, I am also thinking that the blood shown dripping out of his cast onto Rita’s wedding dress was symbolic there at the end as anyone/everyone would have noticed that and made a big deal out of cleaning it up regardless of them dancing or not.

It wasn’t symbolic since they even showed it as they zoomed away, it was small so I wouldn’t expect people to start noticing it immediately.

And about Deb, she’s pretty much been the same character throughout all 3 seasons, this is kind of like how people say new Family Guy sucks because it’s formulaic when Family guy has always had an obvious formula.

I can see what you guys are saying about the father’s existence being too intrusive, but because Dexter has no one to trust (especially after the Prado betrayal), the adoptive father serves as an emotional backdrop he can confide in or argue the moral implications of his actions. Since Dexter believes he has no feelings, his subconscious invents a way where he can solve his problems from an emotional standpoint, instead of a purely objective one.

Case in point- when his father was crying thinking about the child Dexter was going to have, the father exclaimed that it was really Dexter['s subconscious] reacting in the only way he could since he can’t cry.

Overall, I liked season 2 the best, but all were excellent in my book.

Oh, no I’ve NEVER liked Deb. I know she hasn’t changed much over the seasons, but I do think she has gotten skinnier. That’s just a problem with the actress though and not the character.

I have to disagree, red on white, plus at a wedding!?!?!? People always notice if the bride has something on her, always. Bitch could have had lint midway down her dress and someone else would have freaked out about it.

As far as Deb getting skinnier, I kind of follow that. Sad thing is that when she remarked that she looked like a tranny since she was wearing a dress, I completely agreed with that statement, mostly due to the fact of her having no visible breasts in that outfit. It seems like she wears a wonderbra a lot of times to appear to be female, but I dunno…

^ It was symbolic, but it actually did happen. That’s what I meant.

Season 3 was wild as fuck. I still miss Doakes’ broken ass. But Miguel made the show random again like Lila did when she showed up. It was good to see Dexter have a sidekick before he had to off him. Dexter Jr. is gonna be the Season 4 wild card. The skeletons in all the closet are gonna start coming out. And for damn sure it’s gonna make for good TV.

I just finished season 3. Man I love Netflix for streaming the first two season and getting me hooked. Only like a month and few weeks to go till Season 4 starts.

Show kicks all sorts of ass. I too miss Doakes. His "motherfucker"s never got old.

Couls you imagine what would happen if Doakes and Blade did the fusion dance?!:looney:

That’s how Shaft came to be.

yea im hyped for 4…

i still need to watch season 3, have all the episodes on my comp. as for doakes, i hated his bitch ass since day one. the serial killer inside of me didn’t care for him much either!

btw when is the date that it starts up again

you owe me a michelin mothafucka

September 27th seems so long away now.

Wow how do you not like Doakes? He was perfect as Dexter’s antagonist and foil. After he died, there was obviously something lacking, and was most evident in season 3.

I do admit the tension meter did go down a bit, but I believe it’s just that we were so used to Doakes and his snooping in season 2 that it looked like Dexter had the freedom to do whatever, especially with Prado’s connections.

Season 3 just felt like more of a build up to season 4 more than anything. I liked Dexter’s progression as a character, but Miguel wasn’t even close to being as interesting of a character as Dexter’s bro, the crazy Brit, or Doakes. I still enjoyed it, but it just felt like something was missing. Hopefully they amp it up this season.

Actually, I thought that Prado/Smits was absolutely awesome. Yeah, the first few episodes with him were awful, but once the show started exploring just what exactly the kind of person Prado/Smits was–and the effect it would have on Dexter–I found it got pretty exciting.

At least, the relationship between Miguel and Dexter made sense, as opposed to his relationship with the Brit Girl. Not only was she annoying but she made Dexter act in a way that was completely contrary to his nature as established in S1, and the books as well.

So on Showtime tonight they just showed a trailer for the new season. Check it out guys.
