Gaming journalism has evolved into advertising/marketing.
99% of the positive things written about the game in those reviews apply just as equally, if not more so, to DMC1, 3, and 4. Unfortunately some the criticisms apply as well, but they aren’t criticizing the same stuff the fans are. It’s the worst DMC game since 2003 and a nonsensical decision by Capcom but that’s not what journalists are supposed to be writing about.
MGS4 was really good in my book. I’m entertained my CG movies, I’m entertained my video games. I see nothing wrong with mixing the two, so to speak. There was plenty of gameplay in 4. Yeah, some of the cutscenes were long, and maybe that isn’t for everyone, but people really exaggerate about there being a lack of gameplay.
Yeah, MGS4 isn’t bad at all and GoW3 is good at being what it is, which isn’t really that comparable with DMC. HR is abysmal, but it cannot be compared to DMC at all either.
MGS4 had the cutscenes and gameplay switched. Fuck all of the Europe mission. Luckily 2 boss fights were great.
If it wasn’t for MGO, I probably would’ve been mad but I logged in 1000+ hours there. MGS4 controls were godlike, too bad you never get to the depth of it in Single Player like all the cool stuff like various CQC moves into headshots. Doing shit M4 headshot, swap to MK2 pistol, CQC grab the guy running at you to avenge the dude you killed and get a scan so his whole team lights via SOP, takedown release, MK2 headshot, swap to M4 for the kill and just rack up all the points makes you really appreciate whoever designed MGS4s controls.
Wait so…there’s no unlockable costumes/character customization at all aside from DLC?
Normal Dante
End game White Hair Dante
Tank top Dante
Super/Unlimited DT Dante
+Difficulties (SoS, DMD, Heaven and Hell, Hell and Hell)
Those 4 outfits from the picture are DLC only.
Vergil’s Downfall is preorder/DLC
Bloody Palace will be coming later as free DLC
The 3 guns and 5 weapons are all the weapons
I talked to a game reviewer friend and he came up with the same conclusion. A lot of game reviewers just didn’t have the dexterity to appreciate DMC4, so DmC seems like a vastly better game than its predecessors. Combine that with the fact that said reviewers have to run through games as fast as possible and you have your answer.
Thanks for the info good sir.
Or maybe you lack the mental faculties to process the fact that not everyone who enjoys video games has the same opinions about them as you do. Condescending people like you who hold their own beliefs as the benchmark for what is and isn’t an acceptable opinion are what’s wrong with gaming today, even more so than the misinformed journalists you complain about. For you to assume I do not enjoy the interactivity the gaming medium affords simply because I sometimes choose to also appreciate other aspects of games such as their stories for example accomplishes nothing besides illuminating to myself as well as everyone who reads this post that you are quick to judge and slow to think.
Oh neat, my opinion annoyed you. Do you always go into a wordy diatribe when this happens?
And I’m sure developers leaning on trophies/achievements for replayability, taking advantage of completionist tendencies and positive reinforcement instead of making a game that people want to play through again because it was so good is what’s wrong, not my opinion that gameplay comes first.
Christ, you try way too hard.

DMC3 costume gameplay. Still no idea if it’s an unlockable or not.
someone new joins the DmC defense force and wrote an article! Link to neogaf thread
Thankfully neogaf quoted the entire thing so nobody has to indulge in the article’s link-baiting (seriously don’t give them clicks)
I don’t even want to entertain doritos conspiracy theories with this one, it just sounds pretty delusional all around and I can’t imagine it making anyone look good, but it’s still sorta hilarious in a depressing kind of way.
That DMC3 skin looks… I dunno… awkward? It just looks odd to me… It might be the length of the coat or new dante’s build but it sure does look weird to me…
Just read a comment on the IGN review.
Actually this is one of the less bias reviews out there. They judge the game based on what it is, not the fact that Dance has a hispanic look, black hair and a more modern look.
The fact is the gameplay is a as fun as hell, the combat dynamic and the cutscenees have enough depth to keep u conected to the game. Dont listen to the those old fanboys that wanted that Sephiroth styled Dante. Play the game u will love it,* this is the best thing that have happened to DMC since DMC 1.***
I don’t even know what to say.
I wish tapatalk didnt show blocked users. Reading orochis posts made my morning bad.
Sent from my Venus Project using Zeitgeist
Wow, certain enemies only taking damage from specific weapons is fucking shitty game design for an action game.
Why not just ignore his post after reading his name?
Wouldn’t be much of a problem if the Demon weapons didn’t suck monkey dicks. Having to kill red enemies with Arbiter/Eryx is a fucking chore while Blue enemies are ok since Osiris/Aquila have tons of options and are actually fun to use aside from combo fodder.
Devil Trigger makes all weapons work though. I’m specially saving it for the Red enemies. Very lame design on top of having shielded enemies that you need to break their shields with Demon weapons/lifts.
