On Metacritic RE6 has a 67 which is about what it deserves IMO. Hated the fuck out of it and still can’t bring myself to beat Ada’s missions, but I won’t say it is as bad as a 4 or 5(Though probably no higher than a 7 for me).
I think Sessler pretty much hit the nail on the head with his review. Objectively I can’t say DmC has the features of a game that is legitimately bad, but basically it doesn’t feel the void for a lot of people.
I figured I’d watch the cutscenes out of curiosity and saw the conversation between Mun…Mun…that ugly Claymation guy and his “bitch.” I don’t think I’m going to make it.
Put that everywhere. If there exists within you even a FRACTION OF A SOUL you will spread that as far and wide across the internet as you possibly can. Dissemenate the FUCK out of that. Let no good deed go unpunished.
Devils May Never Cry, but Nephilim Crank It to their own conspiracy theories. Let’s bury these assholes.
And THAT, Ninja Theory, is how you write obscenities into dialogue!
So if I’m not mistaken, the only weapons outside of firearms in DmC are the Rebellion, Arbiter (greataxe), Osiris (scythe), Aquila (chakrams), and Eryx (hulk gloves)?
Anyone familiar with /vg/ and /b/ is advised to post that up there. Make it big. Make it impossible to miss. It’s going up on my twitter tonight, then again tomorrow afternoon.
I’ll get a C&D, and they’ll drag me to court when I refuse. The judge will look down at me and ask “How do you plead?”
C’mon nobody pays for reviews anymore, if Capcom wanted to buy off reviewers it should’ve done it for RE6, that game definitely needed it more. I think the OXM 9/10 review was already listed on neogaf before the tweet, so I don’t know what happened there.
A game being worse than all the previous games in the series is not reason enough to give a game a low score anymore, everything has to be judged independent of branding or legacy or expectations because that’s what being “objective” is, and DmC being better than Dante’s Inferno is good enough for games media. If there’s going to be commentary on how Capcom traded in a good franchise to sell a worse game to the same number of people, it’s not going to be in a game review, it’s not the right venue for it.
I feel like they were way more confident/cocky about RE6 doing well based on brand name, whereas this game was a reboot- and an unpopular one at that- so it would need more help.
There’s nothing surprising about this game reviewing well, it was *designed *to appeal to uninterested parties and games journalists. People are already going batshit crazy over giantbomb’s 5/5, which if you read the review is just based on the dude being ignorant of action games/DMC, and nothing malicious. Seems the same with the rest, no need to go to limbo and close down Tameem’s hellgate so he can stop influencing games media.
I spent time as a games journalist, and all this game did was remind me why I stopped being a games journalist. There’s no money in it unless you’re willing to sell out to fucking Satan himself, and I have a family to start.
It just seems odd that in the face of concrete evidence of this game being kinda poo, it’s getting glowing reviews.
