I’m kind of surprised how boring the levels look.
The designs of the transforming city is impressive (as stated many times by everyone), but you’d think that from this transformation there would be something more of a complex level design in completing the stage. Instead, from all the footage shown, it seems like the levels get no more complex then “jump on platform” then “hook grab X ledge”… and that’s it.
What a waste.

I just want to say the bosses revealed so far are all ASS. They smell of sick.

I don’t get how this guy is STILL bad at the game. AFter an hour of playing it, you should be tearing it up like a fraud-pro. Shit is that easy.

This so much.

I really like this idea of the city being alive and trying to kill Dante but I agree it’s not like the it’s changing the battlfield or the platforming in any kind of dynamic way. This isn’t big an issue for me since I don’t think hardcore action games should have much platforming in them, if any at all. I don’t like the platforming challenges in DMC3 or 4 or the platforming sections in Bayonetta. They are awkward and the systems don’t lend them well to the action of platforming. Ninja Gaidens really the only one to do it decently well imo.

With that said I do feel like they wasting a really good idea. I bet this concept would come off much much better in something like Castlevania where the Castle being alive and changing constantly is a core part of that series mythology.

My wallet flew right out of my pants and slammed into my computer monitor after reading that.

Upside down castle? Nah man, the castle itself is trying to kill you, Belmont!

i honestly hope you dont go into game design if you believe that, or any field.

“HOW COULD I BE DEFEATED?! IT MUST BE MY GREATEST FOE, THE ANALOG TRIGGERS! He alternated them and mashed a button and thus I, the Living Castle, was vanquished!”

I’ve been spending some time playing the demo recently, and I’m at a point where I know how to dry hump demons in mid air with jump cancel while incorporating other moves into my style of play, but I’m not really having a lot of fun. Can someone please tell me what I’m doing wrong? Gaming journalists and fans of this reboot are praising it, but I just don’t see the appeal. Is this game that good that fans of the OG series like myself just can’t get with the times? As a fan of action games, should I feel some type of way for not wanting to do rank runs in this game if I were to play the full game? Should I be happy about the fact this series now has morphing environments and pretty colors? Is my sense of humor that poor that I can’t see the hilarity in the fuck you exchange with the first boss? I’m being serious.

“it’s been done already”.

-The game is too easy. This makes things unsatisfying to pull off.
-The game isn’t as stylish. Makes pulling combos off less satisfying
-Game is less stylish because Arbiter is a generic axe that does nothing for combos
-Osiris is pretty lacking itself because Streak was better when Nero did it, and Prop was stolen from Rebellion.
-The weapons aren’t that creative either. Eryx blows as Gauntlets and cannot match Ifrit/Beowulf/Gilgamesh. Rebellion got nothing. Arbiter=Generic
-No sword master means less impressive moves aka no Shin SRK Real Impact. The Shinryuken knockoff that Eryx has blows.
-Dante is near completely mute when fighting. This robs him of any personality (Nero’s style was wild and he had fun fighting/Vergil was calm and focused/Dante was brute force but was stylish and enjoyed fighting.)
-Graphics/audio and the fell when landing hits are inferior to DMC4 as such seeing Dante in action/landing attacks aren’t as satisfying. Presentation does matter in DMC.
-Pull mechanic was better when Nero did it especially since he had enemy specific buster finishers.

The game brings nothing new to the table in terms of combat even with just frame attacks. The Osiris is an alright weapon, Arbiter is generic, Eryx suck as gauntlets, Aquila stole Round Trip but might be the most fun weapon in the game. Weapon loadout isn’t as unique as DMC3’s loadout. All of the above makes DmC a decent game but a mediocre DMC action game. NT got DMC and didn’t do much to actual place it above the rest or at least on the same level. Shattastar’s DMC vs DMC2 video actually makes DMC2 look a lot better in terms of action than DmC.

These are the highlights of DmC:
-DMC 3/4 knockoff
-More backstory told
-More cutscenes to reveal said backstory

Aquila looks like the chakrams right out of Kingdoms of Amalur.

Everybody else seems to like it though. Idk man. I tried really hard to like this game and I just can’t. I’ll just stick with old action games and MGR/Bayo2 when they release because the entire industry seems to be going in a direction that I just can’t get down with.

eh…

just confirms some of the comments from my “leaked pic” a while ago.

Shatta didn’t post this:

He looks like crap with white hair.

Dante = Quicksilver
Vergil = Doppleganger

MY EYES…

he looks like a gay Chia Pet.

Apparently everyone’s at neogaf is convinced that Bloody Palace will be DLC, as it’s not in the leaked achievement list and none of the early reviews mention it in any capacity. Fits with the Nickel X Dime model that Capcom’s been peddling, but it’ll still be another slap in the face if it’s true.
