Devil May Cry!

Man what an awful video. Of course the load times are better you jack ass DMC1 is over 10 years old. I like that he mentions in DmC you don’t have to pause to switch to other weapons but neglects to mention you didn’t have to do this in DMC3 or 4 either. (How do you switch what weapons ae on the shoulder buttons in DmC anyway?) Compares graphics of a current gen game to a game that’s over 10 years old, duh of course DmC looks better, tho his comparison still sucks cuz he shows us a DmC level that’s just platforms over a giant fucking pit, Sonic Adventure 2 style. Man and he has the gall to start that video with the term rose tinted glasses. What a douche.

This Robert Cram guy is trying REALLY hard to make this game look good. I would like to see him to do an in-depth comparison of DmC to something like Bayonetta or Metal Gear Rising, you know, an action game that is a bit more modern.

the last 2 vids posted, I couldn’t get through all of them. they both were a total waste of bandwidth.

Dpad
Right = Angel
Left = Devil
Up = Guns
Down = ???

The weapon change system is my favorite thing about DmC. You have access to 3 weapons at any time, and using the Dpad gives you for a lot of potential weapons to use at any moment. I think having the 3 at any time will make up for how tedious it could potentially be to switch between 3 demon and 3 angel weapons, as you have two others to use while getting to the one you want.

My PS2 copy of DMC1 won’t play on my 360? Such bullshit! DmC did that WAY better!

Why bother turning the camera to find them? Smash the grapple moves, you’ll find em eventually.

Now if only the weapons were interesting…

That’s been in since DMC1 where you didn’t have to go to the pause menu to switch main weapons. R3 lets you switch between them, but you can’t do it while performing a combo. Still, fuck DmC.

Yea but it only works with Alastor and Ifrit so I kinda didn’t mention it (I did when I commented on the video tho on YT heh).

The 2nd angel and demon weapons announced look alright, though the angel one looks fucking silly as far as TONS O’HITS FOR FREE goes.
Hopefully there is at least one more set though. I just hope there are more utilities for j. Tri, Tri, delay, Tri than just lifting them further.

But sometimes the grapple move will go to a random enemy. Like, it’s occasionally really damn bad. I’ll be comboing an angel or whatever, try to do an angel grapple, and I’ll just fly to the ground because the game thought I’d look cuter fighting something else.

Yeah, most of them look “alright”, but the hulk gloves/popeye fists are just laughable. From a Devil May Cry game I expected something far more interesting and over-the-top, I am not yet impressed by any weapons they have unveiled yet. I’m hoping that they are hiding more over-the-top weapons until launch, but I doubt it.

Unfortunately it appears that they haven’t set the bar very high for anything DmC does in terms of combat mechanics. The most unique thing they have done is the infinitely extended airtime that Dante can achieve, and thats pretty boring to watch.

I don’t know… I still think the combat is going to be fun but, the weapons look reeeally bland right now. Aquilla looks the best so far; the rest are boring. The gaunlets are the worst offender… looks like he stuck his hands in beehives. Whatever DLC Skins they put out are going to be necessary to have to avoid having to look at the default ones.

It could be fun to a certain extent, but the ceiling seems to be pretty low.

That’s basically what I did :frowning:

You know when you hear someone complain that Dante is too corny, or that Ryu Hayabusa is too boring, or that Bayonetta is an offensive stereotype, it’s because they’re bad at playing the game and the pieces haven’t clicked. They’re games you have to go into with a certain mindset and you have to play well for them to make sense, and you can’t just focus on beating them for the plot. I get why they want to dumb it down so more people can experience the whole picture, but I don’t think they put much thought into it. Dante is a cocky goofball that’s always in control, Hayabusa is facing extreme odds and overcoming them with his ninja skill, and Bayonetta is graceful and always teasing, etc. Donte just looks like he’s in a hurry to get somewhere, and tired of whatever he’s trying to do, which just makes him doing combos on dudes and having infinite airtime seem ridiculous rather than natural. If I play well in DmC I feel like I broke the game, which is odd. Even wacky shit like shin shoryuing a boss for a quarter of its life in DMC4 felt perfectly fine.

Hold down L2 (Angel) and rapidly plink jump and shoot in the air. If you do it right, you just keep jump canceling the whip before it really comes out, regardless if you have used the jump or not. Hard to explain the timing though. Sort of the speed you’d you to JC Yamato in DMC3 properly. If you do it too fast you don’t really jump and end up falling a bit, but doing it right has Donte slowly gaining altitude.

I wonder if you can use abuse this to get across that gorge in the demo, after the first area.
