I don’t think you understood what I said, at all. Capcom’s decision to go with a western developer has been foreshadowed by an overwhelming belief that Japan has fallen behind in game development. This is a well versed opinion stated by EVERYONE, including several high profile, well praised Japanese developers themselves, for several years now.
Capcom probably went with them, simply because they feel they can take the growing stale franchise in a new direction, and breath some life into it. “How dare Capcom try and keep a series fresh! I want more of the same shit, with better graphics, and design elements from the PSX era!”
yall niggaz crazy mayne. the more and more i watch the trailer, the more and more i like it. for some reason it went over my head, but i like that the fiends have like a modern thing going on to them, and not just big tooth monsters, even though i will still take big tooth monsters. dante with a scythe for dmcr?
i hope we get shit loads of content to unlock, unlike that horrific dmc4.
Typically, a reboot usually means everything is remade: characters, story, continuity, presentation, and gameplay. Sometimes just gameplay reboots like the jump from RE3 to RE4, but typically, a reboot means what I first said. The game is being billed as a reboot, and given whats happened to this “Dante” and the general feel of the trailer, it’s safe to say it’s a complete reboot.
Nah, that’s not what I’m saying. I’m just saying if they retconned DMC2 as if it never happened and made a direct sequel to DMC4, people wouldn’t care. Or if they made a direct sequel to DMC2 but changed the story of DMC2 to make it not suck (while keeping some points like Dante going straight into Hell), people wouldn’t care either. No one plays DMC for the story anyways. Besides, DMC2 didn’t even really have a story.
The DMC series wasn’t feeling stale. The only problem with DMC4 was that it was only half a game. Back tracking literally all the levels you played as Nero but as Dante instead was the issue, not the story, characters, or gameplay. Capcom was lazy with DMC4, which probably hurt its sales more than anything else.
I’m not being silly about it for it’s a matter of who’s behind the wheel. Specially after Heavenly Sword for which I was not impressed with it’s being short and I wasn’t feeling any vibes when I got to the meat of the action like with God of War. Frankly I don’t give two damns about in-development interviews due that anything can be said, but in the end up being different in general. Hard lesson after going though development sessions from Peter Molyneux.
Plus calling D.I.N.O. manly is pretty much a joke due to he looks more like a douchebag instead. Until otherwise, I’ll keep it under pretense that it’s going to phail.
LOL, indeed. What’s worse is all we have seen is ONE small trailer, which looked great. Nice visuals, and creature designs, and a very unique take on Inuyasha, I mean, Sephiroth, I mean, K’ Dash, I mean Riku, I mean whatever. That grey haired ****** with no real personality.
Sad state of affairs, that is. I thought SRK had a better cesspool of game fans. Turns out it’s just like every other cesspool. lol
Agreed. I watched the trailer 4 times in the past half hour. Loving it.
I hardly knew of it when it first came out. I just got it for the “hell of it” and “It’s from the same guys that did DMC, so it’s gonna be zany and awesome.”
EDIT: Now that I’ve noticed after rewatching the trailer, D.I.N.O. looks like more of a junkie than an emo kid. No wonder he’s in the loony bin, too much PCP and Saw.
it wont fail. its touching a larger audience with its new swag, and if gameplay is right, at least 70 percent of the haters will jump on board. it would literally have to be a disc of hardened crap to not sell.
We might as well just end it right here. On this sour note. Because Heavenly Sword completely OBLITERATED Devil May Cry 4 in every aspect outside of replay value and flexibility of the movelist. They were both short, but at least Heavenly Sword had cutscenes worth watching. And it didnt need any epic 80 foot boss battles or enemies with 12 lifebars.
I feel like DMC was so campy at first that by DMC3 they turned it up a notch just to make it seem intentional.
Which brings me to another point, you can SAY DMC isnt about the story, but the developers have always put so much emphasis on it, even if we mash start through the cutscenes I dont expect DMC5 to be any different. The story is going to still set the tone for the gameplay whether we like it or not.
I don’t like this Dante but yeah if the gameplay is good enough I would enjoy it. I really wanted a DMC continuing from the current DMC we have and improvements upon the mechanics/gameplay of the previous versions. Not a reboot. You could change things to make it more appealing without a reboot.
I don’t see how this interpretation of Dante is any more emo than the grey haired, sometimes shitless design we have got until this point. Seriously. Explain the difference to me. Also, “emo” is used as some kind of weird blanket statement now. This guy doesnt look emo. Just needs a sandwich, like alot of protagonist nowadays.
On Capcom-Unity, one of the mods (Snow) has been hinting at Dante’s hair having a bit of white has plot significance. Maybe this is connected and maybe its a full blown reboot. Either way I am disgusted at what they made of Dante.
Why care for story when it’s basically “kill everything including this said boss/demon lord/god/etc” with a twist “you’re half demon/your sword is going to suck your soul dry/you killed your best friend”? After seeing the cutscenes once or twice and if it feels the same, odds are it’s going to be skipped alot.
I don’t think you understand the concept of “retcon”. It means you change pretty much aspects of the story to anything for better or for worse. Just thinking about it can put in just how much can be done with it to make it better, what to insert, what to remove, what can be improved, what can’t be revamped, it’s just alot of thing they can do with DMC5 in general that wouldn’t need a reboot. It was an unnecessary move when Capcom decided to reboot Resident Evil for which was gonna need it sooner or later with the progress it was going with.
