Devil May Cry!

Okay, here’s a random thought… What if this is actually Dante’s son? But then again, it probably won’t be since they’re saying it’s a reboot! FML

And um, I just want a good combat system because I was bored out of my mind while playing Heavenly Sword.

Hideaki Itsuno (Director of DMC2/3/4 and SF2) is the supervising director on this game. He’s making sure the combat is on par with previous games.

… did they have to make the new dante look like such a ******?

Why is it when that’s said that I’m still not confident about the combat for this reboot? Gonna take alot more convictions and gameplay footage to say otherwise.

He better, otherwise heads will roll.

I’ll wait to see some gameplay before I make any judgements on this game.

No… Heavenly sword just sucked.

And isn’t that what a “reboot” means? If it was just a prequel wouldn’t they just call it that? Reboots tend to try to restart the series. The fact that the character who’s apparently named Dante doesn’t look like Devil May Cry’s Dante seems to support that a bit.

Is reboot the buzzword of this thread?

Capcom didnt specify that this game doesnt fall into the arc of the last 4 games.

I think people are interpreting this word “reboot” as being unrelated to the last 4 games, but I dont recall that being stated. And making a game and calling it DMC but it had nothing to do with the story…

they were better off calling it something different but being in the same universe like Blazblue and GG.

Honestly, I’m also hype for this. I haven’t ANY idea why though, behalf of everything said in this thread

so rebooting the series is a better idea?

hey! let’s reboot Fire Emblem and make it geared to five year old’s a la Digimon!

This thread is full of so much fail. I swear I thought I was on /v/ for a second.

This game looks fucking awesome based on this trailer. The DMC games up until now have become a yawn fest of been there, done that both gameplay and design wise, (to me).

I embrace “DmC” with open arms. That trailer was fantastic, saying otherwise really makes me questions your ability to see. This “Dante” reminds me of Johnny Quid (Toby Kebbell’s character in RocknRolla). Interesting. I can really do without another gray haired, bishonen inspired look. Seriously.

I’m not going to sit here, and argue NT’s merits as a developer, because again, Heavenly Sword was pretty good, albeit really short. The quality of the game was definitely on the right side, up.

SRK, I’m disappointed. You are better than this.

yah yaahh bitch you need to look up the usage of the word reboot in the past 10 years. Every “reboot” of every franchise in games, movies, tv, etc. has had nothing to do with previous continuity.

Devil May Cry Reboot. Team Bayonetta on deck

Where is that pic from lol?

Also, lol at the people complaining about the developer. Capcom, like most of you should know, that The WEST currently reigns supreme on game development. Japan has fallen waaaay off, and besides a few, can’t keep up with it’s western counterparts on games anyway. Visually, Gameplay… they just don’t have it like that used too.

So yea, relax boobs.

Never heard someone call dmc3 a yawn fest before…

I really don’t get this Japan vs the West mentality. What does that have to do with anything in this thread? And what do we gain from making such absurdly sweeping generalizations?

So in other words the usage of the word doesnt necessarily have to be the true definition.

Because if you use the word “overhaul” its just as interpretive as the word “reboot.”

You see where Im going with this?

I don’t understand about this “western audience” thing. DMC3 was made with a eastern feel, and people love it. Bayonetta was clearly made with the east in mind IMO, and it’s the shit.

If you want to cater to a certain audience and a certain feel, fuck all the reboot shit and JUST MAKE THE DAMN GAME GOOD. It’s a really simple concept but have a feeling that Ninja Theory is going to miss the boat.

What does that mean? What do you mean DMC3 was made with an “eastern feel” that sounds like a bunch of doublespeak.

What are the actual factors in this? The only real validity in what you just said that I see is difficulty is usually harder in the “eastern feel” games.

because youre being silly. what kind of gameplay footage are you looking for anyways? its not like dmc4’s footage was like some advanced combo shit. showed you some basic things, and that the combo system was still in place, and thats pretty much it. thats what you will inevitably see from this game, and most likely you will get a demo in a few months to play anyways. probably around christmas.

dmc is not a hard game to copy and paste gameplay wise. lets be serious here. although i shit on dmc4, it still had pretty much what you still liked about dmc combo fun wise. dmc3 was just funner and deeper in that case though. i dont think you have to put but so much faith into them copying and pasting dmc gameplay, considering i cant imagine its that hard to do at this point. im looking for dmc3 like options gameplay wise, and lots of replay value to the point i can happily chill on dmc reboot for a few years no problem.

its funny that the emo kid in the new dmc is acting more manly then alot of the thread whiners. ;p game will be good. relax. im glad we’re getting real fiends again, and not walking kung lao hats from dmc4. i hope they have more crazy demons to come. cmon son, you just gonna tease us. i better get gameplay footage and mad interviews by the end of tgs.
