Playing V’s missions on DMD is very tedious, not enjoying that at all.
It took me a while to have it “click”. For me, it was spacing and making sure enemies went after the demons instead of V.
It’s a different mind set from Nero and Dante.
I’m on mission 10 but so far I’m not too impressed. Stages look the same, playing as V is boring and he has unintuitive controls, the revive system kinda kills all excitement when dying. I mean playing as Dante and Nero is fun and all but this is far from my favorite DMC game atm.
I know some folk don’t like Kotaku, but damn if this interview isn’t right on the money.
“What does it even mean to have a ‘good-feeling’ game?” I asked. The term lacked a certain specificity. “I’m clumsy, so I like to think it’s about control. Control over my body.”
“Response,” Itsuno answered quickly. “The game should respond in a way that the player expects. So if you’re talking about Super Mario Bros. , the player should be able to stop when they want to stop and jump when they want to jump.”
Itsuno was prone to acting out his answers. For this, he picked up an invisible controller and began pressing buttons. A heavy press here, a tap there. The idea was that a button press is complicated. There’s the press itself, which sends an electrical signal to a console, which then needs to carry out an action. In reality, there’s a distance between pressing a button and what we see on screen.
“When you press a button, there should be a clear result on the screen,” Itsuno explained. “It should be visual, audio. You need to hear it. All of that creates a visceral response.”
Walker translated enthusiastically, speaking with showmanship worthy of a sports commentator. Before he could finish, Itsuno interrupted in English.
“One more thing,” he said, reminding me of Colombo. “The character!” Each response needed to fit with whoever you were playing as.
Itsuno gets it in a way I feel a lot of modern designers don’t seem to.
Official survey.
Personally put “Please make Trish and Lady playable” in the suggestion box at the end.
I put that plus lock-on type options, cause the game needs that shit bad lol
Just picked this up last night and am on Mission 3, but so far I’m really enjoying this a lot. Nero is a lot more fun to play here than he was in 4 and the combat feels really good. Definitely glad I ponied up for this!
So how long before people actually mod Empusa to be playable on PC.
Went through the first 27 stages of Bloody Palace with no real issue with Dante. Something that I did notice is that Cavaliere R did not appear to be usable as it’s crossed out in my loadout. Glad that you can suspend where you are in the game this go round. Looks like it’s a continue point, so you won’t be able to go complete an in game mission unless you want to start over
A suspend point is exactly what BP needed- my main issue with it before was the large time commitment in a single block.
Agreed.
Furies do show up around Level 15. Knowing how to lock them down is great now, but when they have an entourage . . . . .
Made it to level 98 on my first try with Dante (not super Dante). Had Urizen down to about 5% health, would’ve had the bastard if the shitty 360 D pad hadn’t gone to trickster instead of swordmaster when I had the chance to hit a DT’ed real impact. Probably would’ve lost to Vergil anyways, I suppose. Took about 2 hours. It goes without saying, but Save your SDT for the tough spots (really nice “I win” button when multiple furies are after you). I’ll use Super Dante the next time just for revenge.
I noticed that you get an option to practice any Bloody Palace stage you’ve completed. Also, the normal motorcycle is available, but not the DLC/deluxe one.
None of the deluxe content is available in BP due to the leader boards. No Sweet Surrender, GP01, Megabuster or Pasta Breaker eithed.
1st run though with Nero ended at 69 against 3 furies.
Cheesed the entire BP with Super Dante today. I had actually made it to 99 the last time (1st standing Urizen fight)- it displays highest level completed, not highest level reached. 98, 99, and 100 are all 3 Urizen fights. You can make a killing earning orbs with the hat in BP, will make getting the expensive taunts much less tedious.
I honestly am debating finishing up DMD just to get the Super costumes for a BP run. I am making waaaaaay too many mistakes in the higher levels that are costly but I am learning. The good thing is Furies don’t scare me any longer they are just a “thing” now.
