I do miss sword pierce, A&R, excessive crazy combo modifiers, and the boss quality of 3 (and even 4).
See I thought the boss quality here was much better then 3s. 3 has great bosses but it has absolute duds like Gigapede, Leviathan Heart and Doppleganger. Weakest boss in V is Gilgamesh and he’s still much better then the previous 3 I mentioned.
4s Bosses are pretty good aside from the fact they are all basically the same, giant ass hurt boxes you can dance around with minimal effort. They are all Berial derivatives, Goliath is cut from the same cloth. Not enough boss verity in 4.
Credo is pretty top tier and Agnus isn’t far behind him tho and a big part of that is they arent like the other 4.
The Gigapede was my most hated boss in 3.
I will say that in 5, I don’t mind fighting each boss again.
Speaking of, I’m really looking forward to fighting bosses with other characters in BP.
I’m just not finding 5’s bosses to be as threatening or fun in general. I really liked the Berial derivative bosses in 4, and even 3’s Gigapede had its fun moments when you violated it with DT’ed revolver or deflected plasma shots. Getting the punish damage in 3 and 4 just feels so satisfying- the rhythm of boss fights just feels a bit off in 5 to me. Maybe this is partially because of the removal of (non gold orb) healing items?
Still haven’t touched Royal Guard (STILL haven’t had time to sink my teeth in), but this is a good way to deal with Angelo’s and their shields with Balrog and RG.
Daaayum.
Some nice info. Also at the end, in addition to Balrog, Cerberus lightning attacks, and Rawhide all can stun enemies. Dante gets 130% damage in DT, while Nero gets 150% when you include the claw attack damage.
Very great info. I have been recently introduced to Reddit. The amount of information shared on the platform is awesome. The stuff for this game is no exceptions
Does anyone have a custom control scheme. Now I’m motivated to do something a bit different than the default.
Nero:
Gun on R2
Breaker on L1
Bringer on Circle
DT on Square
Breakaway on D-pad
V:
Griffon on R2
Read on L2
DT(not Nightmare) on Square
Dante is default.
Apparently with Faust, if you fully charge meteors you can one-shot him lol
At about 150K of orbs. So for $2 you can kill him in one hit. Best pay to play mechanic in a game to date.
Keep seeing reviews from people who are saying they got lost…are people unaware this game has a literal “Go this way” button?
I don’t know how in the hell this happens. There is a scripted tutorial moment that shows the player this mechanic.
I turned the tutorial off when I first booted the game and i still found the fucking “Go this way” button and the “Here is automatic mode” button.
ive been thinking. something about V
that V was never being honest since the beginning. at first you think he’s good and wants to save humanity and destroy evil before having a change of heart and fusing back with Evil V aka Urizen. aka demon side of Vergil.
but now im thinking he was lying to everyone. didnt give a damn about people or his comrades or fighting evil. now i think he was playing everyone. evil the whole time. and was telling everyone what they wanted to hear. till he reunites with his body. this might have been his plan…even before seperating human side from demon. as classic Vergil this mightve been all planned if he couldnt absorb the power of the blood fruit with any even a 1% human side. split, demon side grows and absorbs the power of the fruit, then fuse back. new improved lvl 2 Vergil.
oh and thanks Nero. Aizen levels of manipulation.
I don’t think he was really planning on merging with Urizen until he realized he was dying. Existing as Vergil is still better then not existing at all. I also think his talk of eliminating evil is genuine. I don’t really see a reason for him to lie. I also think Vs while narrative reason for existing is to be Vergils human side gaining strength and learning about the strength of humans so that when the merge did happen it helps explain Vergils more mellow attitude and his giving up on chasing extreme power. I feel like that’s kind of a theme for V and by extension Vergil. Spending time as a human and with his mostly human son taught him the true strength of humanity. That was my take away.
I’m pretty sure that is the way you’re supposed to take it. I think Dante even says something to that effect.
Some of the pre novelization reveals a bit more about him(edit: haven’t read but read some comments about it). He’s definitely not just evil. It is his human side after all and humans have emotions. He does say that the desire for power is something he shares with Urizen, but it’s for different reasons. There’s also the whole thing where Urizen in William Blake’s poems is the side of “reason” which makes V the side of “emotion” I think.
Edit 2: I do agree it was something he planned on though, but moreso opportunistically
