Yeah a lot of people didn’t get he was Vergil’s son from the white hair, the spirit stand creature that looks like Vergil’s Devil Trigger when Nero uses Yamato or the evil pope Santcus literally saying to Nero “I must salute a man who carries the blood of Sparda” and telling Dante “You did not anticipate a descendant of Sparda’s blood”(To awake the Savior colossus thing).
So they had to show Vergil investigating the demon worshiping town, some chick(Prolly Nero’s mom) staring at him, and then him leaving the scene to make it even more implicit.The only way all of this could have happened was before DMC 3, because he still has Yamato during the cutscenes. Even after that some niggas was still was like “Ehh I dunno” so them niggas finally came out themselves and said Yes niggas he’s Vergil’s son.

I swear they could have literally shown Vergil nailing Nero’s mom and Nero’s birth certificate with Vergil listed as the father and people still would been like “That name could be complete coincidence. Vergil is a common name.”

Yeah I think the only reason they did this is because of how Dante’s looks have changed over the years. Dante in 1 and 2 look similar in age, and in 4 he looks older, likely due to graphical orders plus the passing of time. In 5 he looks a lot older, likely due to the large graphical upgrade and artistic choice of hyper realism, so, to me, him going from his older look to 5 and then a lot younger look in 2 is weird.
Again this is all just speculation, but considering the narrative in 2 is so inconsequential, this is the only thing that makes sense to me. lol

Well the previous order was going to be 3>1>4>2>5. with Dante coming back from hell some time just before or at the beginning of 5. They only very recently publicly switched 4 and 2. 5 was always going to be last in line.
Personally I think Dante looks older in 4 then he does in 5.
What? Dude has wrinkles in 5. The only thing that makes 4 Dante look older is the stubble

He just looks like a real person in 5 to me. Don’t really see wrinkles and his stubble stands out more.
He looks more weathered and tired then old to me. Comes off as pretty bored. I dunno he just doesnt loom that old to me.
Even if you think so, 4 Dante has none of that at all, so I would still think he’d be obviously younger
