Speaking of lk tatsu…has anyone ever traded and then hit ultra Shin Sho? Do you dash first or just do the ultra motions?

Just do ultra motion, no dashing. Depends on their position you can get full ultra 1. Just like how you can FADC lk.tatsu into full Ultra 1. Same idea.
No. I said it is very useful for what it is designed to do. Purely AA only. It have a very large hit box for an AA.
The fact that if you miss you are facing max punish does not mean it is not reliable, it just mean you should not use it when you are not sure it will hit. Use only when it will hit for sure.

in that way, it isn’t very good.
but, canceled from cs.mk, it is a 3 frame, 160 damage, 250 stun punish and is hit confirmable into super. (it is also a true block string from low crossover)
canceled from c.lk, it is a low option into 130 damage and 200 stun and is hit confirmable into super.
hitting high in corner combos and followed by j.hk, it gives gouken an 822 stun bread and butter; that’s like a denjin combo.
It’s going to be interesting in 2012 when you do that EX palm combo where you are just far enough away from the corner where you can do fireball > super lp.palm. I’m hoping you can connect that J.HK off that as well.

It has about the same range as a light rekka.

Waitaminute, light rekka has an insane range, even more than Gouken’s far st.HK. I think saying the same range as a light rekka is too much, unless you’re talking about the return of the old LP Palm. He’s is talking about the new LP Palm.
I’m thinking that the move may have a new use as a counter poke, if it has the hitbox of what I think it has.
It would be great to have cr.mp x lp palm or cr.lk x lp palm not whiff like they do now. Even if you can’t do them at full distance like a shoto can do cr.mk x hadoken. Great for jumpins or crossups where you want to insert a low attack. And if we could connect cl.mp cr.mp x lp palm that would really be great.
Here’s to hoping the new gouken doesn’t get overshadowed by Dan and hakkan’s buffs. I would hate to be at the bottom.
It’s going to be tough to be at the very bottom with the kind of damage Gouken will be able to do if you can hit confirm.
You’ll be 2 to 3 punishes from winning every time.
One jump in with hit confirm is 400 to 450 damage with one bar. That’s half the life of some characters.
A Kongo FADC 2012 MP palm will deal 280 damage.
If you learn the character specifics of c.mp xx tatsu that is another 250 to 270 damage.
An EX antiair is 200 damage
We’re not even including backthrow Ultra or the possibilities with the extended range* 3 frame cl.st.mk or a random poke here and there, chip and zoning trying to get in. Do I think he is rocketing up in tiers? No, I think others got way better buffs but they buffed his potential for damage and damage when it counts. They supposedly fixed the stuff that wasn’t working (Kongo high, wrong choice of palms, short range on lp palm) and added a bit of range on st.cl.mk to allow for a 3 frame punish.
On paper, it sounds like a bunch of fixes, but maybe that’s all he needed?
Bottom line is, you will still struggle in wake up situations. We aren’t going to get an all in one get off me move FADC to safety, but hopefully the ability to punish mistakes has been increased and that should compensate.

the type of stuff not mentioned is usually damage nerfs or buffs.
i.e. st.hp has gone from 120, to 90, to 120 and who knows in 2012, kongo went from 180 to 150 in AE, etc…
I find lots of uses for Lp palm. I constantly blow up and make people afraid to uses focus attack due to it being a quick armor break move thats for the most part safe on block due to pushback. People who like to FADC dash in on my hadous I make then respect the Lp palm.
Oki- Jump in Clk lp palm works great for me.
I would like it if they moved the hurt box back a bit although in 2012 Im sure they didnt do that to prevent trades. For the most part I like it. If it were really unsafe then Id prob hate it alot lol.

the only real use for LP palm is really just for the high low mix up lk > palm. Remember we used to have to use lk > Tatsu to do that at all. While it is unsafe, you have to do it once in a while to keep your opponent be aware that you -do- have a high low mix up, evne if crappy.
LP palm also work for corner EX plam > hp fb > LP palm > dj.hk

Maybe punish Honda Head butt.
Punish fireball by going through them
Punish far natural jump
Punish all type of teleport
Punish whiff Bison devil reverse
Punish T hawk falcon spite
With this speed? It probably can punish -any thing- that whiff to be honest. See Yung / Yan doing palm to get meter? Punish it. See gief doing whift Lariat? Punish it.

You can substitute nj.hp for an extra 5 damage (woohoo) instead of dj.hk.
That has to be character specific because nj.hp comes out too slow. WHich character have you done this on?
EDIT: I’m also not buying that lp palm is useless until I have messed with it myself. Need to see the range personally. cr.tech with lp.palm buffered in for one.
You were definitely right Reipin, it is char specific. I got it work on everyone but Gen, Guile, Sakura, Chun-Li, Fei Long, Adon,and Rose. And some are definitely easier than others. It looked like every character would have a different hang-time after the lp palm. Some would go up higher than others and some would stay in place longer when they were at the top the apex.
Neutral j.HP knockdown puts you right next to them when they are waking up, no?
