I think the stuff that players complain about are mutual on both sides… SRK or not. But then again the changes that they want aren’t always the most ideal, and Capcom knows this I’m sure. I trust more in the balance team than the complaints team.
Hk gekiro hard knockdown looks good. Too bad hp-mk, hk gekiro doesnt work on everyone.
EX roll will probably not have any other distinction asides from distance travelled. The + frames on roll’s second to last hit is in reality a useless buff, I dont see too many viable combos coming out of a FADC roll…
sigh it seems capcom still does not know whats rly our issue with gen. some sort of way to deal consistently with wakeup/ corner pressure, fixing u2 so its not a gimmick (7 frame startup further proves that Capcom wants you to mash this in between blockstrings as a counter ultra), and maybe his old Mantis jump. Perhaps well see more changes after some Loctests. Theres one in Osaka apparently, according to The Hoigek.
Also cant believe Capcom is reverting all the balancing to chars like Abel, Balrog, Honda, Guile etc… Tornado throw, Headbutt, and Air throw all back to how it was like in Super (-_-). Also cant believe they messed with Akuma’s vortex.
I see what they are doing, taking moves we don’t use much and trying to make them more useful ie Gen’s roll or Cody’s knife etc but they need to do a hell of lot more than that to make it useful. When was the last time you caught someone in the roll and where like damn I wish I could FADC right now? I’ll tell you, never cause you don’t use the roll =p
Wat.
i use rolls all the time.
i have my own version of “the gootecks shimmey” with gen
Thanks. Yea loctest, I blame google for brainwashing me with that word lol
I use Rolls when the opponent doesnt know I’m at -3. If he does, then I only use it once after with FADC. But I do
agree that it’s one of the less often used moves.
from Amiyu, in Osaka: Ex roll (lp-mp) is shorter than the lp one. Ex roll (lp-hp) is more or less like the mp one. Ex roll (mp-hp) is “long and fast”. The new Crane cHK seems easier.
thought ex roll changes would only be distance related…
tell him to voice out for more, relevant gen buffs!
Thanks Schiff.
How can a roll be shorter than the LP one o_O? Maybe they made it 2 hits like Vega’s LP RCF with faster start-up?
Hmm fast is what I want to hear. Would be awesome if the charge time was reduced too.
More of this please =D
I
I’m a new Gen player so I could be totally off my rocker here but every time I use the roll it gets me into trouble. I have tried to use the EX Roll on reaction but to no avail. Part of the problem is the super long charge time. I can almost never do it off a jump in combo unless I ht 2x with j.HK and I used to main Guile and Chun Li in SF2 so I know my charge moves.
WFT is a “gootecks shimmey”? sounds messy
This doesn’t make sense. Why would they make two of the three EX rolls the same or shorter than the non-EX counterpart? So that makes MP+HP roll the only good option?
It’s possible that they changed the damage distribution so all 3 version would deal the same total damage. If then, you can roll under a short distance against a projectile or a burn kick, then you’ll either hit them with the last poke or simply not get punished (in case of burn kick)
Cool Gen changes. Might not propel him up a full tier but these sound like genuinely helpful additions, especially the hard knockdown on gekiro.
its something gootecks didnt invent, but he gets credit for being the first known american player to use it. basicly its a throw bait that involves 1 or 2 light attacks, a step back to bait a standing throw or crouch tech or a reversal, and a button cancelled into a special to punish the whiff. the following video @ 31 seconds in for example

with gen i do mantis cr.lk x2 step back, crane cr.mpxxxlp roll
im usually out of range for most 3 frame jab short punishes if blocked
Hmm interesting I’ll give it a go tonight
I’d post the test location videos that have gen players in them. But they are so bad. And they can’t even hit the full gekiro, whether or not they are going for better positioning, you’d think they’d want to test out the HK knock down.
First known American player? This ‘tactic’ has been used since the 90s.
Just because everything was new in '09, it doesn’t just ‘erase’ history.
You go to loc test, yet don’t use any of the changed moves. I don’t fucking get people sometimes. If you want to play casuals, go online.
yep it’s almost like people were playing to win. It’s like hit each other talk and find out what you want to know. That’s the point…
That’s how it always is, scrubs trying to get exposure instead of cultivating the community.
When there’s Fight Clubs in Vegas and I attend, nobody tests shit they think it is a tournament. They get upset if two people get on and communicate to try things out too, haha.
