Dev blog Gen changes AE 2012

No, that wouldn’t work, the stance change would be done in the air and you need to do it on the ground. It’s more like comboing off the crossup, with a deep crane j.MK and then a stance change right after.

ok, i think i understand. thanks.

Hmmm, yeah that is interesting. I let them fall a lot after the first hit and after the third hit on my Gekiro, that might explain it. I’ll have to try yours out, it sounds reliable. I was just hoping to build any meter I can whenever I can. Thanks!

hey this should work with inverse stance switching too right?

like if you mantis jump+attack, change to crane for the safe jump?

im testing, and it seems to work

Jab Roll should have total frame of 43, or there’s something I’m missing.

So if I make the finishing blow height lower, I should be able to go away with killing less frames right?

yeah. i can test too. the only issues would be getting the roll on frame 1. double tap

That’s basically what I’ve been doing but I finish lower so I have to walk slightly. It’s interesting how much variety there can be with this based on how people are doing their HK Gekiro.

yeah, if you finish a tad lower, you dont have to walk at all. ive been keeping gens non kicking foot right next to the characters head on the way up

repost of my above info. gonna delete it.

safe jumps from hk giekro. tested against all dp type characters and those with reversals between 4-7 frames.

set up is hk giekro (finish) whiff hk giekro, mantis jump in+button

there are 5 different finish hieghts for different groups of characters. from highest to lowest-

  1. t.hawk only. you need to finish with gen’s head at t.hawks waist

  2. guile only. you need to juggle guile and finish with him slightly above gen’s head

  3. guy and adon. they both need to be finished at gen’s head

  4. sagat*, blanka, fei, ibuki, dudley seth yun, yang, juri, chun, viper. these characters need to be at around gen’s waist, or at the knee of his non kicking leg

  5. cammy, and dee jay. these two have to be almost completely below gen. make their heads be at the foot of gen’s non kicking leg

*sagat requires a crane jump attack

of note, you can abuse the special move buffer window, and mash for the whiffed giekro. the only thing you need to worry about for timing is the finish height
