I feel the complete opposite. This is the model Activision wants. The game is a huge timesink, modeled after a smart casino operation. Everything from the RNG (drops and stat rolls), useless currencies, etc are designed to keep players focused on attaining loot, diverting the attention from the lack of an actual narrative. Gamespot did an awesome video about it a couple weeks back.
I don’t believe if Bungie had 100% control or was partnered with a different publisher that the game would have taken that kind of direction. So no, I don’t think anyone’s job is on the line. People still pre-ordered the $80 bundle. People will still pay $20 for useless items.
HOW was the last chance a lot of players (including myself) gave Bungie to improve things and they came through. They fixed a lot of the stupid (ie blatant timesinks) features that were implemented in the game. Now it’s time to fix the major issues. The Dreadnought is their chance to show they’ve learned that players want a narrative, something to explore and discover. It’s the entire reason people love Vault of Glass* and hate Crota’s End.
I feel like players are so desperate for a narrative and discovery that they’re looking too deep into whether there’s another chest and hidden locations in the Vault.
I liked the idea of an interactive library (grimoire) in the game that you could visit to get all your story needs. Why haven’t there been any animated movies, or ‘tales of destiny’ which would focus on the lore? Webisodes would be perfect.
The grimoire would have been a nice library of things you’ve experienced already in the game - like a personal Wikipedia of your adventures and revelations. However, it’s not. It’s where they decided to store all the lore that gets added to once you get X-amount of kills with Y-weapon.
I know exactly how those poor guys must feel. I mean, seriously? Girlfriends and wives are actually going to an online support group to bitch about their men and their hobbies? Those poor guys How the hell could you live with a woman who nagged that much?
Spoiler
I’m surprised my girlfriend didn’t start that website.
This sniper called “Her Benevolence” is my favorite sniper right now. It has the perfect balance of impact and rate of fire. A critical hit can one-shot an enemy with an overshield. Things like Preydeths and the Vangaurd/Faction snipers can’t do that due to low impact. The only other current snipers with high impact are Black Hammer and Efrideet’s Spear
The one I’m using has Hidden Hand, Shortgaze Scope, Hand-Laid Stock, and Unflinching.
The pussy dude… that is all. Women hate anything that takes the attention of themselves… insecure creatures… my old work mate married a gaming girl…lucky bastard.
I simply can’t do shit without my trusty Poison Clan weapon. Ice Breaker used to be my joint, but why bother? Nobody dies in one shot anymore, sooooooooooooo…
I might go power up the hawk though. That and I hear Vestigan Destiny is pretty raw. Might have to at least check it even if I play the game once in average of five to six days.
Hellllooooooooooo. Been quite some time since you’ve seen me in here hasnt it?
Anyway, out of curiosity, if I rebought this game and all DLC right now, what would there be for me to do that’s brand new(ya know expansions and shit) that wasnt in the base game? How many new strikes? Raids? Missions? Any worthwhile story stuff that got included later? Quality of said new stuff?
How has the meta of weapons changed? I last played before that initial weapons balancing patch where they made burst rifles better.
What did they change on Hunters? Did they ever fill in that weird 3rd subclass slot?
Did they ever add Sparrow racing? Because they should have.
But most importantly, is the RNG on raids still window-licking retarded?
Been kind of bored lately and thought about re-picking up this game again but I’m not sure if it’s worth it. After the salt induced curse I placed on this game and all.
So is the taken king like a new game or kinda like Bethesda’s “Game of The Year” edition where it’s just the base game and all the shit that came out post launch?
I just think it’s kinda dumb they dont integrate the cross platform upgrading like GTA 5 did. In GTA 5 you can upgrade your multiplayer characters from 360 to PS4, or PS3 to Xbone. Does Bungie do that? Nah. It’s not really even like there is anything stopping them. They do the same as Rockstar does. Since it’s online only, all your gear and stuff are saved to their servers, with permission to access it tied to your account name. They could just change around permissions and wabam you went to a different console family.
It’s probably dead for me after I upgrade to PS4 though. Dont really want an Xbone at the moment.
“I’m going to go back to putting the finishing touches on the new Subclasses and trying to figure out how I can make Blink less frustrating to fight against. People keep showing up at my desk asking me when I’m going to remove Blink from the game, and I don’t want to do that, so back to the drawing board!”
