So for those that have the game, what are your first impressions? I’ve seen a lot of mixed opinions going around, with most of the complaints being that the game is too repetitive and there aren’t too many areas to explore. I’ve been taking a lot of those complaints with a huge chunk of salt though, since repetition is kind of the nature of any loot based game.
They’ve got expansions and shit coming later, so I don’t really mind the area size. I actually think that the areas are rather decently sized. If people think this is repetitive, ask them if they liked Borderlands. If they say yeah, punch them, because this is Borderlands minus the light-hearted aspect. If there’s one thing to worry about, it would have to be multiplayer. Everyone goes in with whatever they had equipped before, and more times than not, the team with more automatic weapons takes the win. I’m sure this’ll get balanced or at least addressed later on, but it’s my one minor gripe. Everything else was awesome.
I was fine until I did a mission on Venus, I think, and it was wave after wave of like 5 Knights and a couple of wizards and minotaur’s, plus assorted trash, and occasional Ogre’s. The trash gets you, when it’s a wave of Thrall’s who just get right in your face.
Haven’t even touched multiplayer, yet. Going to wait for level 20 for that nonsense.
As for an impression: The game is beautiful (can’t stress how nice everything looks), looting isn’t as diverse as Borderlands yet. I hear the game really doesn’t start until level 20, though. It’s kind of nice when you do a quest, and there’s like 20 other people all doing it too, just decimating the opposition. Vehicle is nice. Gets you around fast, and comes out fast. Abilities seem nice, although the skill tree isn’t really much of a skill tree, just a list of unlocks, with the ability to change only my grenade type, so far.
Game is intense, though. Firefights can take awhile, and enemies stay under cover a lot, and actually require a bit of time and strategy, to take down. Gotta work these next two days, then I am grinding my ass to 20.
edit: I haven’t come across any gear that is higher in rarity (if that even exists) than green items (the only other’s I’ve found being plain white items).
Got the game after work been playing with friends most of the day I play on ps4 lol a lot of my other peeps are on ps3
I played the beta how do you get your weapon from the moon mission that transfers over?
The weapons arent too diverse in the looks department, but they all look good at least. There arent any revolvers with a sight the size of a monster truck wheel or anything.
The multiplayer is actually mildly fun. Only issue is probably it being Bring Your Own Weapon. More often than not, the TDM games turn into a sniper battle because most people have one. So I can tag somebody who’s even slightly damaged with my Solar Damage sniper rifle and pretty much call it a day. You bring your heavy weapon as well, but ammunition for it doesnt become available until about half way through the game.
I’m getting a GTA5 vibe from it right now where it’s fun, but noticeably vanilla as fuck, and it will fill out as the months go by with more shit to do. I did my first raid earlier and I’m kind of afraid of how the others will play out if that was just the first. It was a bit of a gauntlet with like 10 minute hold off section. Then we fought a spider tank. Literally 2 minutes after that, we fight ANOTHER boss. Then the raid is over. It was really fun and I barely pulled it off with these 3 randoms but god damn was it a good challenge.
Also drwill I got up to 10 tonight so you can probably fuck around for a before I get home from school and still be at my level by the time I get on tomorrow. I’m halfway to 11 on my EXP bar
So I did the 360 digital version/get the Xbox One version free deal…
Started up 360 version at my store, then fired up X1 version at home, as soon as the game loads up your character from the 360 version is available to play right where u left off. Played X1 version for a while, then fired up 360 version and character is right where i left it on X1.
Also, as soon as you got into Orbit, it will unlock any achievements you got on the other console.
Cool feature lol
What’s the deal with clans in this? how do they work. and is there an SRK clan?
Also, @XthAtGAm3RGuYX I hear you. I probably won’t get much time on today, as there’s a random inspection happening right after work today, which means at least an hour or two of waiting around doing fuck all…
You guys should post in the clan more often so we can keep it active and shit.
Also, for those of you who care, there’s a pretty dope app you can download that let’s you check up on all of your stats, items, and general character info with startling accuracy.
As opposed to yesterday, I dont have a lab for my major classes Wednesday and Thursday. So I should be back home earlier than yesterday. Most likely while there is still some sunlight left. I don’t know if I can keep waiting for you though. You better get in some mad EXP before you quit playing tonight lol. I havent had a new game that I literally could not wait to play for the longest time. Keeping my hands off it will be impossible come Friday. It’ll be the only thing I play.
I fought an Ogre for the first time and it really wasnt that bad. They have a ridiculously huge weak spot right on their face, and as a Hunter who loves his Sniper, it’s pretty hard not to destroy the fuck out of him since I’m always just doing headshots anyway. A commendation deserves to be given to the enemy AI though. If you pick some of them off from a long a distance and they cant find you, they just take cover and refuse to move until you make yourself noticeable. I headshotted some dregs on the moon and their friends did just that. As a sniper with much patience I waited 8 IRL minutes to see if one would pop out. Not a single one did until I advanced with my Auto Rifle out instead. Higher ranking enemies are very good at dancing around cover staying out of your line of fire in small areas. Almost annoyingly good at it. They are also clearly related to Sharks because they know immediately when you hit 1/3 health. They will charge with everything they have in the hopes of killing you if there is enough of them. I’m pretty sure Destiny AI is just Halo Heroic Difficulty AI with increased aggression and survival instinct. Their grenade throws are normally very on point too.
