Destin's Sakura Advanced Play Guide

In the corner, the difference between left and right is so hard to see with simple walking that there is almost no need to go for anything else. It is 50/50, un-seeable.

damn i can do the last 2 of those setups, but the first one with the jumping fierce i can’t figure out, anyone got any tips on how that is being setup?

i was just talking about the ex tatsu cross over. but thats good to know about the distance for c. viper thanx

Oh  Nvm then =P

Quick tip, instead of using cr.lk>cr.lp>cr.HP to hit confirm, use cr.lk>st.lp>cr.HP

Not only do you have one extra frame to prevent any possible brainfarts but it does like 5 more dmg points.

EDIT: Might whiff on certain crouching characters. Will test later and edit accordingly.

Yeah slight problem is the s.LP will miss certain crouching characters though :frowning:

There a difference in push back from different jabs and shorts?

Like you guys said, it can whiff on smaller characters, and I like the consistency of being able to do the same combo on every character. At a 2f window, 3 with p-linking, it isn’t the hardest link anyhow.

Now, more important though, is that setup gives you one more frame on block. That could mean something to some people. I personally was fine with the +3 from cr. lp.

c.LP > c.HP is a 3-frame link  using c.MP or c.MK instead makes it a 2-frame link and and jab or short makes it a 4-frame link

It’s the c.MK link you’d want an extra frame to play with but can always just use an LK to make it easier on yourself

I’m fine with it too, it’s pretty easy (19-20 success rate I’d say), but whatever can help is good.

And why the hell does everything whiff on Blanka’s stupid hitbox? I’m getting sick of that guy… thing… monkey?

Stand Hp, lk tatsu, crouch hp, ex tatsu works everytime on blanka!

Dunno where to put this but eh, may be somewhat useful but probably isn’t :stuck_out_tongue:

After a Shououken you can do a LK Shunpuu and it’ll put you in the right spot for cross-up j.LK (might need a small step back for thin characters), of course you won’t have time for it if they quick recover but at least you’ll have a little bit more meter :stuck_out_tongue:

Edit: Removed 'cause I’m stupid :stuck_out_tongue:

After I get a knockdown with shou, one thing I like to look for other than j.hp (to stuff shit) is meaty full charged hado. If they tech, let it go half charged.

Didnt know that about the ex-shou though. Interesting.

Yeah I do the Charged Hadouken too but have to be careful with some characters doing wake-up EX moves against it (Sakura being one of them).

WHAT?! Really!?

Heh looks like I jumped the gun, nevermind :stuck_out_tongue: Not even on hit, must be some weird thing with KOing 'cause I distinctively remember KOing with it after the second hit of the mini-Shou and then cancelling before the main-Shou comes out so must have assumed.

Should have done more testing before opening my mouth :frowning:

I think you can fadc after the first hit of the ex shou on hit though. Not that it is terribly useful (unless your opponent starts punishing between the two dps).

Yeah, you can. I do it all the time if my ex-shou gets blocked because I have no problem burning 2 meter and taking a mixup instead of getting knocked to the deck.

I’ve come to terms with the concept of sakura being a “meter eater”; she needs a meter to do pretty much ANYTHING, but she doesn’t give 2 shits about getting rid of EVERYTHING as she’ll get it back pretty shortly.

Yeah since EX Shou basically constitutes LP Shou + HP Shou, LP Shou can be FADC’d on first hit and HP on 1st to 3rd hit. Although I dunno how you’d notice EX Shou being blocked on the first hit and FADC in time plus you’ll get more chip damage cancelling on the second Shou… :stuck_out_tongue:

It’s not a bad “mix-up” though since they can’t auto-block the second Shou and you dash out of it pretty quickly they can only really try to throw or jab on reaction. I tend to hold on the Focus Attack (Lv2) rather than dashing out of it, think it’d be a better idea if I did a little of both

Or mash ultra

There is a one frame gap between the two shou’s, on the ball players can punish that shit. Not too many of them though that rock that, usually just dp mashers online ect.

I think you are +1 post FADC dash off shou, so you get a mixup. Of course you can also Focus to level 2, but eh, +1 with sakura is enough to start up the mixup train.
