Im not trying to say a grab doesnt work, cause I mean it flat out beats block. Im just suggesting that you shouldnt be LOOKING to throw them, but instead use it as an option if you think they guess right on the crossup/crossunder mixup.
I mean, i cant act like I never throw or anything. My thought process is usually not to put them into such a “hopeless” situation that I actually have to stop and look for DPs. (yes, i know good and damn well I have to expect a DP or anything of that nature anyway)
oh no i agree i dont look to do it but when im sure hes ready to block ill go grab. i also only do this when im playing my friends that know sakura’s games so i’ll toss in the throw every once in a while to keep them on their toes.
okay, still w/the FADC out of the SRK, i turned on so i could see my input. i’m inputing (bottom first like in training mode)

when i do it normally, i dash (naturally). when i do it in the move for the ex, she flashes yellow and dashes forwards. am i right in the fact that she’s not supposed to flash yellow at all?
Destin: vs. Rufus tornado on block, this is what I found.
It’s possible to whiff a standing LK and buffer a tatsu behind it, if he does ex messiah I got to block it. However, if he jumps it’s going to be pretty strict timing on getting it out to catch him. You’re also taking a risk in buffering that tatsu since it might catch him in the air and you’ll be punishable for that.
Her standing LP has a lower total of frames than standing LK and has a higher hitbox, so for catching his jump I think this works better, and it’s a lower probability that you mess up the timing enough to get hit by the ex messiah.
If the standing LP hits you get a reset and a nice ambiguous distance for a crossup or not. her standing lp also beats his cr.lp, so you don’t have to worry about that either.
So in my opinion, throwing out a standing lp is the best all around option to use after a blocked tornado in the corner.
She’ll flash. infact, if you’re doing it like that, you’re more-than-likely doing the dash right, unless you’re just ungodly slow with the 6MP+MK. And I mean, you’ve got PLENTY of time after the first 6 to do 6MP+MK, so im betting that’s not the problem.
If it’s still not linking, then what you’re actually missing is doing the HP out of dash. I find that to be the hardest part myself. Gotta slot it into the pocket
(not here**|pkt|**not here)
What’s happening when you try to do it? Is the HP not coming out, or is it just not linking?
Don’t you have to time both the fadc from the 3rd hit of hp srk and the cl.hp after the dash?
It feels like if I focus cancel a bit too late it becomes impossible to land the cl.hp.
Yeah you have to time it, but im saying you dont have to like, have a crazy tight 66MP+MK.
dont quote me on this
I dont think the timing around the 3rd hit has to be strict so long as you actuallY FADC before the 4th hit for the obvious you’re off the ground by then. But if you do FADC after the 3rd hit, you’re going to be going off at the same time.
As for the CL.hp afterwards, yeah that HAS to be timed. If it comes out and doenst link, you’re probably doing the HP late as opposed to your dash being late (because again, if your dash is really “late”, it wont happen at all).
It’s really late right now here, but tomorrow I’m gonna check that by purposley delaying the fadc to see if you have to be fast about it or if it doesn’t matter.
To me so far it seems like it does matter.
It doesn’t matter whether you cancel the shouoken immediately - there’s a nice bit window of time before the 4th hit - but what really does matter is that you start your dash IMMEDIATELY after you cancel the shouoken, and that you do the cl.HP IMMEDIATELY after the dash ends.
That’s why you want to buffer the first :r: before hitting :mp:+:mk:+:r:
it’s just not linking. it seems i’m inputing the upper too slow afterwards. i’ll keep at it for a good bit today and if i cant get it, i’ll just youtube it w/the inputs. this shall not conquer me!
For Skatan: I was afraid that stand lp would not have the range needed to hit a crouching distanced rufus. If it does hit, then it is a much better option. Perhaps you can even hit confirm into crouch mk dp ect. The reason I said to use that option with the hurricane is because with rufus at -1, you have a 2 frame window to keep him from jumping (Takes 4 frames for most chars including rufus to get off the ground).
Either way, the real goal is to end his offense there, and if standing lp does that easily, I would say go with standing lp, good find.
Ok, I did sagat. That mother fucker was a doozy, it took like an hour. Glad I remembered so much. Next up is BIIIISSSSOOOON, so whoever requested that one will finally get it, years late. I am not looking forwards to that one either, since I have more experience against bison than anyone else. Hopefully I don’t get too gabby.
