Beyond that, for codallen, I would suggest not even going for that followup in that situation. The damage increase probably isn’t more than say 100, and at the cost of 2 meters it is somewhat hard to justify. And if you are dead set on using it, you might be better off doing jump HK, stand hp, shouken fadc ect. At this point in the combo (assuming to reps of stand hp, lk tatsu, crouch hp), it may begin to hit a damage scalling cap where you are getting very diminuative returns for the work you put in for those 1 frame links. And because the shouken is greater than 100 damage, you want to get that in relatively early in the combo (even better if using EX shouken, I am almost sure with that you would be better off not doing the early lk tatsu link).

If you can manage it, why not give us the stun/damage breakdown for us for both combos! If I had my book I would check for myself, but I am without data at the moment, so its up to you!

Edit: Oh yeah, in the situation where you don’t have 3 ex bars, and for some reason you want to ex dp anyhow, can anyone think of a good reason not to use ultra instead?

All I could come up with was:
-Only hits low
-Wastes ultra (BARELY and issue with sakura)
-The ultra freeze may make them not throw out a move that you would have for the ex dp.
-Somewhat easier to punish. For some reason people don’t often punish ex dp with ultra, though they could…

The advantages were:
-faster execution
-More damage
-Possibly greater range
-Doesn’t waste an EX bar (I think 1 ex bar may be worth more than her ultra bar lol)
-Makes you look like an idiot when you miss.

Yeah that’s the main reason :stuck_out_tongue: Although the Ultra freeze gives them forever and a day to block where EX Shou comes out moderately quick and there’s no big warning sign telling them to block.

One might think that, but they said in an interview one of the issues they were having with sakura was that her skirt was not flying up during her moves, so they had to change it around specifically to make it fly up.

How can I use Sakura to make you better in CvS2?

Well if I actually cared abnout that dead game, my area is having a huge cvs2 revival, with all the old players playing a ton.

But quite frankly, even using my team of A Ken Sakura Vega would be pretty sufficent I imagine. That team is no joke.

Great guide Destin, I’m having a lot of fun again playing Sak (I was a getting a little burned out just maining Akuma), and a large part is thanks to your info.

I don’t know if you guys can help me anymore than what’s been said so far with hitting the shou fadc. I know it’s really tight timing-wise, but man, I don’t think I’ve hit it once yet :slight_smile: I can fadc out easily enough, but sak is still in the dash animation when the time limit expires for hitting the hp link. What would you hazard is the problem - am I not being quick enough with the fadc motion? Or, am I not hitting the hp at the right time? I’m leaning towards the first one simply because I’m still dashing out of the fadc, but at this point I’m a little clueless as to how to hit it properly. A lot of people have suggested doing the fadc input as f, f+mp+mk which I’ve now incorporated (I used to do it as f+mp+mk, f) but still no dice.

It is 2 one frame links, so it is very hard at first any way you slice it. If you are using the f, f+mp mk, then it is probably just the hp timing. work on that plink!

How bout “I don’t want to give my opponent time to charge”, since ultras do not stop time. It won’t give them enough time for a full charge, but if they’re half charged or something, it gives them enough time to finish it off.

The other end of that being “I don’t want to give my opponent a chance to counter-ultra”, since all they have to do is time the end of your animation and “reveral” off of it.

it’s a safer gamble for sure but if they’re already in the start up of a non-invulnerable attack then ultra is the way to go IMO. just hope your reactions are good enough to decide between the two

I’ve read that Chun has an instant overhead with jump back roundhouse. I don’t have I’ve gotten this to work really with Sakura since it looks like her jumping roundhouse has a pretty far vertical reach. Is she not capable of this or am I doing it wrong?

shes capable so your probably doing it wrong. from what i was told you gotta time it on there rising when they have standing frames. im not sure how many there are so i dont know how precise you have to be. i do it to gief all the time

Yea, I can ONLY do it to gief, I can never get it to work on anyone else.
