Demon's/Dark Souls Thread. Dark Souls II!

I didn’t realize lightning weapons were that easy to make. I def should have made one sooner. I used Drake until I got the Lightning Spear in Sen’s. Now I use Enchanted Iaito +3 atm. Idk why I went with my weapon, I guess I was just use to the Moon Uchigatana/Magic build from Demon’s. Works fine for me though. I also didn’t know the Uchi existed in Dark Souls until i already raised my dex to 20 to prep for the Iaito.

Prob roll a new char when I beat it, decide on a good build and then begin NG+.

Nito was probably the second easiest boss for me.

I wonder if his name was intended to be Night?

I actually like/respect that review. He understands the game well enough now, even though he skipped DS. Most of the points he made were right on track as well. Giving the game an 8, which is high by his standards, shows that he’s judging it for what it is. He didn’t beat it but, he put a good amount of time into it. In the end, he likes the game but thinks it’s too hard for him, as well as most casual gamers.

I’m actually not surprised that Blighttown put him over the edge… I hated the VoD in DS and, apparently, this place is worse? I’m definitely not going there next… I’d rather go check out the Darkroot Garden first.

But is it enough to really give an honest review at the end of the day? I mean IGN and Kotaku had blogs running of them playing through the game before they released a review.

This game is honestly just a grown-up version of zelda.

Technically, no, since he didn’t finish it. I’m looking at it as him giving his thoughts on the game so far, as opposed to an actual review. Another point to take into consideration is that those sites were given a copy of the game early, for reviewing purposes. DSP’s “review” is coming from the point of view of, not only an average gamer, but one who came in blind having not played Demon’s Souls. He could’ve channeled the frustration the difficulty caused into unlawfully bashing the game but, he took the time to learn and understand it. That’s what I respect. On the other hand, if you choose to look at it as a legit review, take it with a grain of salt.

Ceaseless Discharge was… too easy. If I had any better weapons the game might as well roll over for me.
Lost 25k souls and 4 humanity attempting to see if I could jump down as a quick way to the bottom… didn’t look very high. My HP disagreed. No big deal, I’ll get that back in a few minutes anyway.

so i just fought the centipede demon and…i got my butt kicked a few times and then on the last run he glitched out after jumping or something and i got the “YOU DEFEATED” message + a bunch of souls. good game even bosses can fall off ledges, that railing doesnt seem like such a bad idea now huh???

i didnt have a lot of chances to learn the fight so how are you supposed to beat it anyway?

Run to the right and there is a spot you can fight him. Aside from that, cut off his tail and keep circling him, hitting him when you can. He is one of the easier bosses.

FINALLY got the Ring of Fog. I’m a part of the Forest Hunter Covenant, and I finally got to put my setup to good use. Ring of Fog, Chameleon spell, Poison Mist, Iaito+15, Parrying Dagger. Just ninja’d the shit out of some people.

Chameleon is a fucking great spell for invaders too. One time I got invaded at the Tomb, so I waited by the bonfire that has that skeleton near it, chameleon’d, and as soon as he passed by I pushed him off the cliff hahaha

How high is high? Remember that regular weapons can upgrade to +15, Drake weapons max out at 5. Pretty much if you are mainly a Dex build, there is no way Iaito should be weaker.

Would have had to have been Naito then.

And an appetizer to Skyrim. Great game though, but I think it’s wayyyy easier than Demon’s Souls.

After I came back from Duke’s Archives, what happened to Big Hat Logan? I never freed him and he’s not there anymore, but he’s not in Firelink either. I swear, everytime i tell myself I’ll learn new spells when I get back, the NPC disappears.

Does the centipede demon drop a weapon if you cut off his tail? If so, I missed that one.

How do I adjust the boulder direction machine? Just googled this Big Hat Logan guy and I missed him completely. Also, where do I get the cage key/meet with the crestfallen merchant? The wiki is pretty vague.

Goddamnit. Everytime I’m about to beat the game, I find out about a bunch of shit I missed!

The machine has a lever sticking out and you can adjust it to all 4 ways. The Cage key is somewhere in there, I forget where. But you needed it to unlock the shortcut from the beginning to almost where the boss is.

The merchant is in a tower in the area where those big trolls are throwing rocks. When you are on the stone walkway circling around, instead of taking a right to climb to the top where the boss will be, take a left. You have to jump across the broken walkway.

First bell down. Beat the gargoyles after tons of deaths, thanks to a kind soul and the sun dude helping me out. The first guy I summoned invaded me I think, and would probably have killed me if I hadn’t found the summon sign of the aforementioned kind soul who helped me fight off the guy.
Then I quit the stupid Way of White covenant at the sin dude. I only joined because I didn’t know what I was doing, like most people I suppose. I wanna be a Forest Hunter:nunchuck:

Why is the gargoyle tail axe so bad?

I guess I’m going down to those horrible command throw ghosts now? What’s in the scary cave beyond the graveyard? Just found it today, but didn’t enter because I was in the middle of looting the graveyard.

Also, when I read something about enhancing estus flasks in the firekeeper soul description, I used it :crybaby:

I dunno, I’m level 28 Dex with Wanderer and been using a Magic Uchigatana and Divine Washing Pole, The Uchi does about 285 damage per hit and the Washing Pole gets up to 300 if I two hand it(can only single hand this if you have 20 strength). Think I’m 28 Endurance too, so I can land 4-5 hits with the Uchi before Stamina runs out, 3-4 with the Washing Pole. Scimitar +10 deals about 180-200 per hit, and I can strike 6-7 times before stamina depletes. The main thing with the High Dex weapons ain’t really the straight up damage, it’s the speed/amount of attacks you can do before the enemy can even react.

Did I just see DSP and respect in the same post? My god what is happening to SRK?

I’ve already got my starting scimitar to +3, should I just keep building that, or start pumping souls into the Iaito then? I definitely like the attacks of both better than the drake sword (not so much scimitar heavy though) but it just does SO MUCH DAMAGE right now. I mean we’re talking 70+ as opposed to 20+ on a given enemy per hit.

Pick whichever you prefer. Just don’t take them higher than +10, and don’t take your dex higher than 40.

Endurance is the same way right? Since the bar maxes at 40 anyway?

Iaito’s damage never gets super high, around 150 damage unless it’s full Flame,Crystal, Lightning,Chaos etc., then around 250… Iaito’s strength is the bleed damage…it’ll deal 33 bleed damage on hit, once full, I think it deals 30% more damage to the enemy on hit
