um… this game rocked. the main reason why there is a sequel is because of the success it received. there’s enough market interest that warrants this sequel. and the game wasn’t hard, it was fun.
anywho, anything coming outta japan is probably seriously delayed after THE quake.
Yeah, I still use the Purple Flame shield which is 1 level away from max. I need a Pure Cloudstone I think.
Demon’s Souls was deep as hell too with all the combination of gear. My character is a Magic build and I kept pumping levels into magic. Then I started using the Dark Silver shield since it had the highest defense, plus weighed less than the Purple Flame. Shit nerfed my damage output immensely, but I didn’t recognize it for a several game sessions. I thought the mobs had leveled up with me, then I read “Dark” kills all magic for and against you.
Purple Flame Shield is meh, Steel Shield gives the same protection and hit resist as PFS but requires less Str points, the only difference is 40% fire resist compared to 80% iirc but rarely would you need that extra protection. Imo it’s not worth it unless you’re a Strength build, and even then you’d probably use a 2-handed weapon to get the most damage out of it. Shields are okay useful in PvM but in PvP its the complete opposite.
If you’re playing a mage I’d recommend you to try a setup of Kris Blade on your right hand and a Catalyst on your left, when you need to melee switch your Kris Blade for a 2-handed Moon weapon. That way you get a power boost while casting normally, and when you switch weps you have the ability to cast (Warding or offensive spells) or melee for good damage. You’ll need to get familiar with dodging and switching stances though.
i have this game (demons souls) but i never got into it. i was playing WoW at the time and don’t have the time to really play both. but i might give it another chance. any tips for getting started?
Ok, Imma keep that in mind next time I fight the giant statue thing or whatever it is, I can’t even make it back there because I keep dying haha. I went to another place where these monsters just magic me and I fall down, then they do some freeze spell on me and kill me. I thought OK maybe wizard armor well help…nope, nah-uh
I was in another area where some dudes where throwing rocks on people, I just ran past it but soon as I took the freight up I got killed by another magician. The fuck is up with this game sometimes lol it’s so hard :o
A lot of new info for the game has been coming out, however it feels like its stuff we already know, or stuff we knew was going to be in there due to playing Demon Souls.
Can’t really get excited for the latest trailer shown at Gamecon (or whatever the place is called), my exceptions are already set in stone and now all I can do is wait for the damn game to come out already.
~About Undead Form~
-You can revive from Undead Form to Living Form by offering humanity to the bonfire
-During Undead Form:
You cannot summon players to help you
You cannot kindle the flame to increase the amount of Estus Flasks you carry
Your maximum HP stays the same
You will look undead
~About Multiplayer~
-Your phantom will look different based on what Covenant you have
-The “Dark Wraiths” is a Covenant. With this Covenant, you can invade players to steal their humanity (the most basic form of invasion)
-A player who was killed by an invader can write the invader’s name in the “Book of the Guilty.” Players of a particular Covenant can select a name from this list, invade their world as an “Blue Spirit of Revenge” (shown in one of the earlier screen shots) and kill them.
-The total number of phantoms that can play in the host’s game is 3. This includes helping phantoms and invading phantoms. By default, 2 helping phantoms and 1 invading phantom can be in the host’s game, but based on the situation there can be more invading phantoms.
-You can still acquire humanity offline
~About Character Creation~
-The Depraved has a higher starting level then the other classes, and thus starts with higher stats
-Game play wise and story wise, there will be no restrictions based on which class you choose
-All starting equipment of each class can be obtained later in the game
-The only gift that does not exist in game is the “Master Key” This gift is the only on that has a significant impact on the game (However, Director Miyazaki recommends that you choose this for your succeeding play throughs rather than your first)
-Miyazaki recommends starting with the “Pendant” or no gift at all
-There are no gender restrictions for wearing certain equipment (guys can wear dresses)
~About Game Play~
-The magic charge system was implemented to broaden the uses of magic
-Like in DS, equipping magic takes up slots, and the amount of magics you can equip is based on how many slots the spell costs, and how many slots your character has
-It is possible to equip duplicate spells on to your character, thereby increasing the maximum charges of that spell
-Weapons of the same class may not share the same swings, therefore you should test every weapon you find
~About Forging~
-There are two ways to forge weapons: “Enhancing” and “Transcending”
-Enhancements are your basic “+1” or “+2” type of upgrades
-All blacksmiths can enhance weapons. You can also enhance your own weapons at the bonfire
-Transcends change the elements of your weapons
-Only blacksmiths can perform transcends. Each blacksmith can only perform one type of transcend
-About half of the blacksmiths require you to have a “Spark” (the Kanji is “Seed of Fire”) in order for them to transcend your weapon
