Demon's/Dark Souls Thread. Dark Souls II!

Like taking an extra swing vs Tower Knight or Flamelurker. q_q

The 4-1 boss. I was crushing him like it was nothing. Then ONE poorly timed roll… All my souls plus I wasn’t able to execute the shortcut to the get boss again. Defeated.

Coppin’ Demon Soul’s tomorrow. Fuck that NPC guy that kills your NPC’s, he’s gettin dropped as soon as I meet him. Is there japanese voiceover option? Also is it very scary?

When Diablo 3 comes out, that will be my main focus. Sprinkle in SC2 and I am set.

The XBOX 360 Time to Die is a little confusing. Those not familiar with the game may find it ambiguos.

Agree 100%. It wasn’t hard if you knew the attack patterns and how to properly level up your character.

The class you pick can also make a huge difference on the difficulty, especially in certain parts. Starting as a thief can be pretty painful when you don’t know what you are doing, especially compared to something like royalty or knight.

not that I would know from personal experience or anything

starting class would only determine difficulty in the beginning since all it does is define your starting stats, weapons, and spells. But after you beat the 1-1 boss, you’re free to level you character as you see fit so eventually a starting barbarian can be a mage, and a thief can swing dragon-slayers and stuff. the only advantage I can see is with royalty because they start with soul arrow + fragrant ring, which early on is amazing. They start at soul level 1 which mean you can customize them completely from the beginning.

The learning curve was really steep with this game. The thief had a hard time starting out but as you progressed things got easier. It seemed like the “classes” only really made a big difference at the very beginning. Some classes made learning the game easier than others. Knight and Royal, like you said.

But yeah! Props to you if you started with a thief. That would have been BRUTAL!

I like the reasoning behind the difficulty in Demon’s Souls (and why Dark Souls is going to retain the high challenge).

New Info on Dark Souls

Source: RPGamer - News Bulletin - Director of Dark Souls Reveals New Info

Everytime I hear news about Dark Souls, I think “fuck, i need to play more demon’s souls”. Picked it up recently, but other things have been owning my gaming time.

Looks like the character classes won’t change much and you can become whatever you want after the start. I was hoping they’ll make the classes more unique this time because tbh it’s pointless, once everyone knew how it worked everyone picks either the Temple Knight, Soldier or Royalty so they can maximize their usage of stat points.

I wouldn’t have noticed if you hadn’t told me.

I’m soo late to the demon souls party, but fuck is this game hard! I’m on the second level or whatever the fuck I am I dunno, I got to some boss that’s like a giant statue and there’s archers everywhere. Can’t beat it

But shit that’s like if I even make it there because there’s like a horde of enemies next to that boss and they just fuck me up. And there’s dragons everywhere roasting my ass because my knight can’t run fast enough. I like this game but fuck is it hard :xeye:

Protip: You’re not supposed to be there just yet.
After completing Stage 1 of the first world, head on to the next shrine to visit the other world.

Basically, how you want to go about this game is to beat the first stage of every world, then choice a random world from there and go on. Even if you defeat the large boss with the shield, a thick fog will be preventing you to progress any further onto that world.

Also, word of advice.
If you run into someone named “Yurt” (I forget his name), kill him.

On Tower Knight:

-Start with the archers. Run up the stairs to the left and dodge roll if Tower Knight tries to attack you on the way up. Gank the archers, staying away from the ledge because Tower Knight uses a powerful ranged attack (when you see his lance light up, get clear of the ledge).

-After circling the outside wall and killing off the knights, hide behind the wall at the top of the stairs and wait for Tower Knight to use the lance throw. Right after he does (you’re safe behind the wall), run down the stairs and get a good distance away from him (outside his attack range).

-Watch his attacks. The one you want to move on is when he does the forearm smash with the shield. Let the shockwave clear, then charge his legs as he recovers, slash his feet 2 or 3 times then get clear out of his range again. Repeat with the other leg until both have green mist shooting out of the joints. Next time you hit him in the leg, he’ll go down. This is when you take him down.

  • He’ll fall over, and he can actually land on you so get back. Run up to the head, enchant your weapon (Turpentine, Sticky White Stuff or spells) if you can, and wail on his head. First playthrough he’s likely to die before he gets back up. If he does get back up, step back and repeat the third step and he’s done.

Some new juicy info came up. Scans of interview with Dark Soul creators

I’ll jot down some points that might be of interest:

  • the team is hoping to eliminate all loading screens from the game, apart from when your character dies

  • there is a lot of emphasis on tiered environment design, so players are encouraged to explore by dropping from a higher platform onto otherwise inaccessible ledges

  • in addition to warning players via messages, the system now allows you to trick/hinder other players

  • they’re aiming to make the game as hard as possible

  • you can assist other players by lighting a beacon fire in the gameworld and share assets/recovery items for other players to visit in their own campaigns

  • players are connected not via servers, but dynamically with those who are playing around them geographically in the game

  • there will be several quests/missions involving visiting other players’ worlds, but the game can be played mostly solo

  • there will be at least ten character classes, and these choices will prove more integral to the story that unfolds for each player

  • there will be several ways to end the game, but it’s a game where the user can choose not to complete it and live in the world for eternity

I’m kind of surprised they are making “the sequel”, considering it was a single platform, ultra hard rpg with a relatively small fanbase…then again everything gets a sequel nowadays.
Demons Souls isn’t exactly what I would call a…fun game…I mean its not a bad game, but a fun game is the type of game you can’t wait to get home to play…Demons souls just brings me down thinking about it, maybe if I grind my character some more, I might be able to get through the next area without being murdered too many times. Now it just sits there, staring at me.

In the interview he said it was going to be “as hard or harder” as demons souls, and that it should be “spicy but edible”. Demons souls as spicy but edible? What kind of food is so hot you have to go onto the internet to look up safe handling instructions? If demons souls was a restaurant, instead of having a wall of celebrities who ate, you would have a wall of warnings about which dishes will kill you instantly left by the families of the victims.

Demon’s Souls is fun, especially when you are beasting on the mobs with your new weapons. Yes, it is a challenging game and can piss you off as well, but I played that shit damn near everyday until I beat it.

Yes I grinded a lot to be able to use certain weapons or armor, which ended up being a waste of time/stats points sometimes.

I swear -the only grind that was worth it was those Str points for the Purple Shield at the dragons.

That shit made the game so much easier - even for fast/cast characters (which were what I always ran).

As I see it.

Don’t know what you are smoking, but you best better give me some!
Demon Souls is a damn fun game, however, you have to see how well it did. The game sold WAY more than expected that the game was able to get a green light for a squeal so soon. I can only imagine that Dark Souls has been in the works for quite some time, I just hope it’s just as enjoyable as Demon Souls (if not, more).

good…dark souls is sounding more and more like king’s field/shadow tower…

now if only they switch it to first person only…then all the fps bitches will be crying about aww it’s so slowwww what you want me to actually think or explore during a videogame???111
