To fight the Tower Knight? A shield won’t help you against the Tower Knight, in fact I’d recommend two-handing your weapon to damage its legs faster.
Well what about using the shield to block it’s energy blast? I have a spiked shield as well BTW.
Just wait until you fight Old King Allant. He will use Soulsucker to drain 1 soul level from you, which could nearly kill you or just kill you outright.

Nah it’s not random, NG+ is MUCH harder. I had to grind for a while and pull a somewhat elaborate strategy for flamelurker second time through. Real Demon’s Souls starts now…

I got a question about this Ostrava dude. What are the conditions of getting the Mausoleum key from him? I have it with one character, but can’t seem to get it with my other character. I rescued him and all that good shit, how do I get him to cough it up?
Stuckey, it’s been awhile since I’ve played but I think if you rescue Ostrava and he survives 1-1,2 and 3, he’ll be waiting for you in 1-4 right at the end of the level and he’ll give you the Mausoleum key. If he dies at any point you can loot his corpse and grab the key, but if he dies and you miss the corpse (or he glitches out) you’re shit out of luck until NG+.
There’s also a Pure Black Character Tendency quest that asks you to kill Ostrava in the Nexus that lets you loot the key.
**Now that I think about it, that’s what happened. I saved him in 1-1 on my other character and he wandered around and got killed somewhere else and I looted it. He’s in the nexus with that character. Ok then. Cool…
Wanted to go ahead and kill that executioner chick for that big ass armor, hopefully I can make it to 1-4. The boss on 1-2 rapes my face (although he really doesn’t seem that hard…just bad luck I guess)**
Try to keep saving Ostrava up until 1-3, you’ll get a nice item. Talking to him after saving him(he’ll give you an item each time) makes it so he pretty much guaranteed ends up at the next part of the level.
Tower Knight discouraged me from playing the game. After I whooped his ass, from soul farming and understand how to approach him I raped the rest of the game, and being able to roll=best thing you can make sure you’re able to do correctly.
so any word on a eu version of this game? if it wont come out ill order the us version, but id rather have a eu version if possible.
So I beat the tower knight, but I’ve been told to jump around the levels a bit for different stuff. What’s the best choice? Or do I go on to 1-3?
You can continue onto 1-3 if you’ve beaten another world already, but take note that the enemies 1-3 and onward will hit you pretty hard compared to the stages before. I’ll usually go and complete world 2 so I can upgrade my equipment asap.
Beating the first parts of World 2 and World 4 will give you weapon upgrades and most of the best ore/soul farming spots in the game.
If you want to get technical, the fastest way to progress through the game is to beat 1-1, then beat 4-1 (which can be made even easier with a glitched shortcut), and then 2-1 and 2-2 for unlocking weapon upgrades, as well as the regnerator’s ring, compound longbow, and talisman of god from 4-1 (among other useful things). You can then farm souls and upgrade weapons to your heart’s content and basically take the rest of the game at your leisure. Mages would probably want to prioritize saving Sage Freke from 3-1 to unlock his spells as well.
I’ll go for 4-1 next then. Then world 2. Thanks, homies

first playthrough is frustrating. especially when u lose like 5k souls or something i would rage and be on the verge of returning it. but after awhile u get to teh point where u lose like 100k souls or more and u just say “w/e”
oh man this game is still $60…
