Demon's/Dark Souls Thread. Dark Souls II!

you have the ores that i listed??? cause those are HELLA rare…no you do not need stats 99 for trophies, you can check in the trophy collection section to see what the trophies are…i sent you a friends invite a while ago but you never accepted so i just deleted your name…but if you wanna do some trading let me know…

Sorry about that, I have basically zero PSN friends so I never look at that panel, and I only have like 5 games on PS3 anyway so unless I’m playing Demon’s Souls I’m rarely on it.

I will have to check but I think I used most of those ores to upgrade weapons already so I can’t really help, although I’ve been grinding a ton of levels so we might not be able to trade anyway.

well i hit plat today, haha…what level are you??? im at 156…

It’s funny, it’s less than a 10% boost in power yet it amounts to so much. This game really teaches you how important it is to defend and dodge. Your stats hardly matter unless you are hunting ores (luck boost to 18-20 is quite good enough) and str/dex matter for finishing fights faster.

i’m trying to get all of my stats up to 30 right now. i’ve already taken care of str., dex., endurance, and vitality. except for luck(8), my other stats are at or near 20.

Stick to increasing your stats that greatly enhances your characters current abilities.

If you are a hack and slash character, then str, hp, and stamina are the only 3 you should be putting your stats into.

Remember, a jack of all trades is a master of none.

I can’t decide if I need light weapon or curse weapon. Which one is recommended?

The damage increase from Light Weapon scales with your magic stat, so it seems like a better choice if you have a magic-oriented character. Curse Weapon is a constant 50% boost to damage, so it’s perhaps better for non-mages, but it also causes HP drain.

If I understand it right, Light Weapon adds/increases magic-type damage, while Curse Weapon just amplifies its normal damage type, but I have not tested it myself so I’m not 100% sure on that. Most things are not resistant to magic damage though so don’t worry about it too much.

Ok good. I got light weapon because the hp drain made me weary of the other. Glad most monsters aren’t magic resistance.

Accidentally killed the merchant in 1-4.

I should have this game finally sometime on Tuesday. Most stores I called said they’re getting their shipments then, which is 4 copies for each store. I also got my first taste of the game yesterday, I played up to the Nexus then had to stop myself because I didn’t want to get too attached before actually owning the game.(Friend brought it down.) I started off with a Knight, is there a big difference between a Knight and Barbarian? Those two classes interest me the most.

class affects your starting stats and equipment, nothing else

From what I’ve heard Barbarian is a much harder starting class than Knight. Knight is a really easy starting class, but aside from equipment their stats are very similar. The only significant difference is starting weapon type (club vs longsword) and armor (no armor vs plate), so there’s not much reason to choose barbarian over knight unless you want a bit of extra initial challenge for some reason. You can just pick a knight, take off all his armor and buy the cheap club from the 1-1 vendor and you’ve basically got a barbarian, and once you start building up stats the starting differences will quickly become irrelevant.

5-1 in New Game+ was surprisingly hard for me somehow, but once I got past it 5-2 and 5-3 were a breeze. I think all I have left to do is grab all the colorless demon’s souls and then beat Storm King and finish the endgame. maybe I can squeeze it in and finish collecting a few more ores before Modern Warfare 2 comes out.

I started as barbarian cause i wanted to focus mainly on melee, so it gave me higher str with lower caster stats
took awhile to find some decent armour, but still managed fine, just got really good at barrel rolls!

LOL, it’s hilarious how important rolls are. I almost feel like that’s what I should do IRL in a confrontation. Astrea was so easy, but them babies in the muck are no joke. So the red dragon can’t be killed with poison cloud. Arrows are the only way?

For Red Dragon

For Blue Dragon

Thanks. Will try that tonight.

http://www.youtube.com/user/hecatomb I put up some vids of me killing some of the Bosses, im going to put up me vs the Maneatter tonight

i just picked this game up.

does anyone have any quick suggestions. i love a good challenge so i am looking forward to starting.

Damn, Mario!

You fell in love with this game, didn’t you?

I can’t really blame you…

ya dont rush, take your time. Learn how enemies move and get your distance from attacks, this game is big on turtling not rush down. Though some enemies who want to sneak up on later like those damn octopus head bastards. Learn spells also once you find the wooden catalyst, if you still have a hard time watch vids on youtube.

EDIT: ya if you sneak up behind enemies you can to a fatal blow also by attacking them, and also if you parry then attack if should be able to kill most enemies in 1 hit
