Demon's/Dark Souls Thread. Dark Souls II!

This game is more amazing than we give it credit for, this is what games will be like in the future, all populating a world we like to discuss about, actually join in and help with or having the ability to be a menace within the game.

But instead we have a lot of wankathons like COD

so I started a let’s play I hope i’m not too sh*t at the game but i have a feeling i will disappoint someone with some newb tuff i miss or forget let me know what you guys think…Also i think it’s kind of awesome how there is no right way to go to first it’s really you’re on you own figure it out!

Slayed the Pursuer. I failed a few times because my standard weapon set was doing too little damage. But I suspected that somewhere in my armory I had something strong. I was going to run the Ultra Greatsword but it drains too much stamina. Seems the Halberd was more than enough. Not sure if I’m going to pursue No Man’s Wharf next or Lost Bastille. I was pretty frustrated with the game in the start but over the last two days I’m (slowly) making progress.

I am getting bopped in this game.

I platinum’d Demon’s Souls and DS1, but it doesn’t prepare you for this game. Dat damn enemy count.

The texture work is fucking gorgeous, though. I can’t wait to see what the PC version looks like, goddamn am I impressed. Better framerate than Demon’s/DS1 is awesome, too.

i’d suggest no man’s warf, much easier area to conquer, especially alone

So I see they changed the modifiers for fire/lightning weapons. Was hoping for lightning weapons again lol… guess I’ll just go raw since I got a ton of str atm.

They scale with Strength/Dex now, so they’re still viable. I haven’t found anything that out damages my Fire Longsword/Longsword combo yet…

…I need some katana .

longswords suck, use the falchion, heide’s sword, or the scimitar

all are slashing but those three have much better growth

easy way to kill the Pursuer

Spoiler

parry him run to the ballista and shoot him

Longsword definitely does not suck, it has a great moveset even if the growth isn’t as good

it has the same moveset as the falchion but no where close to the power

The Black Gulch was really short… thought I would have to put up with this bullshit for a whole level.

Jabba the Hut really is in the game… Damn Slurm Queen looking ass mofo trapped my phantom in the corner and raped him.

It’s the best I have right now… I’m trying to upgrade my Twinblades in the mean time to use as my main weapons, but I’m starting to get doubtful of if they’re going to be worth it in the end. When/Where can I start upgrading along elemental paths?

Uh, no dude it definitely does not have the same moveset, they are completely different animations. You should take a look at it again dude, it’s a good weapon for all kinds of situations, it has really wide sweeping attacks and even has a thrust attack. The Falchion by comparison only has one horizontal sweep attack and honestly it’s pretty slow, and it’s the 2nd R2 so you don’t even have immediate access to it. Best thing about the Fal/Sci is that they can parry while not being a rapier type which is basically always a weaker class of sword. But even then the rapier types are good because they’re really fast and have lots of forward range, some have parries, or can do damage through shields, etc.

Point being that a lot of the weapons have good uses in this, even the “plain” non-boss ones.

Lost Bastille (or whatever it was called), near the beginning there was a locked door. Forgot where you get the key.

For him to give you elemental paths you need to give him some ember you find in Iron Keep

also Smelter demon sword is godlike. need to find out how to upgrade boss weapons to +10 (unless they just get upt o +5, which kinda sucks)

does anyone know how to walk on the fire rocks?

Can someone help me out with the Shrine of Winter door?

[details=Spoiler]I’m trying to go through it, but it’s still telling me to “seek mightier souls”. I just recently learned you have to get the four primal souls to open it, but I’ve heard from multiple places that there’s an alternate way to get it open but NO EXPLINATION AS TO HOW. I’m really getting fustrated cause my friend was able to go through the door and he’s only killed Freja, The Rotten and The Lost Sinner. None of us have even been to Iron Keep, yet he was able to enter and I can’t. What the fuck.

The guide says you can enter by having the four boss souls, or having the “prerequisite amount of souls”, but what the fuck does that mean…?[/details]

That Rat King covenant exists purely to troll people. I prefer the forest from DaS, even if it eventually did devolve into trolls for the most part. Being forced to invade someone’s world where all the mobs attack you is stupid. You don’t need a good strategy you just attack the invader in unison with the mobs.

Fuck that giant rat.

Just a quick tip. Iron Arrows can smash jars. It makes a certain area so much easier.

True, but the mobs die off eventually, just like if you were to kill them on your own, and then you do still need to have a strategy. Besides the person being summoned can just run past everything to the bonfire, that’s how you’re supposed to deal with it. That’s why all the enemies but the rats are slow and most of the traps can be avoided once you know how they work. It’s really only trolling at the start, but it turns into something else once the summoned person knows how it works. It forces the Rat King side to come up with other strategies when people get smarter.

Throwing Knife do the same and are cheaper, though of course less range. Easier to access though, so that’s nice, plus Knives are just hella good in general in this game
