I don’t smash any boxes. One of them has some poison mist I assume. In great Dark Souls II news, seems a couple people over at GAMEFAQS killed the woman who levels you up.
Got a few paths to take now. I can either slay the Pursuer. Who I actually did fight before reaching his boss area. I swung at him when he was flying by. The other path is where the door that can be opened by the soldier key to the right after you go down the ladder next to the bonfire, and Hiede’s Flame Tower or whatever.

Apparently you can use a Batista vs him in the area? Did anyone try that?
idk, i call him a douche and then fucked him up with some arrows. you can skip the cutscene fight with him if you fight him earlier in the stage but good luck beating him

Just took out the Dragonrider in the rematch. Dude is pretty damn easy. Warming up on those Sentinel types made him cake.

Beat the giant boss. Got to pursuers boss, but not sure if he is next. The last bonfire I have been to was near a dead giant stating it is resting in peace with nothing else in the room. The mapmaker has been moved, but I can’t find where he went, and currently at 4 estus flasks.
after you finish no man’s warf, take the ship and you’ll enter the lost bastille the proper way, you’ll drop down into an area behind the gate by mcduff’s bonfire. there’s a door you open with it
