Demon's/Dark Souls Thread. Dark Souls II!

well considering if you want to get everything in the game you need at least 3.5 playthroughs you didnt hinder anything that would require over 4…

i dont understand how the world tendency changes in another level…like im playing through stage 1 and stage 5 was completely black, but when i went back to nexus to check out the tendency on stage one (i was at 1-3) i noticed that stage 5 was pure white…WTF…

anyway the only pure white tendency event i missed is garl vinland on pure white on stage 5 cause he shows up as a black phantom and you need the weapon he has…hopefully i can get pure white for the 2nd time through…

how did you guys beat selen vinland the black phantom??? im a magician and she nulifies your magic, additionally i dont know if it is my shield but she cuts through it like its not there (im using rune shield), does she do that through every shield with that sword???

also, i dont know if you noticed, but if you kill a lizard, and then die, or go to nexus and come back, sometimes it is still there…on stage 2-2 i did that lizard pit that has more than 5 lizards in it like 3 times…so i dont know how that works because supposedly once you kill a lizard its never supposed to respawn…

for some reason i think the first stage is the most difficult of all the stage, it also has imo the most difficult bosses, minus the phalanx. all the other stages, i dont think i died very often or at all…

I think for every boss you kill in a world, the Crystal Gecko spawn count increases by +1.

I haven’t put in much time this week because of work, but mosdef doing a marathon session to catch up to my homeboy. I work 12 hour shift and try to get as much sleep as I can. I don’t even want to look at Demon’s Souls because 1 hour turns to 4. lol

Wow getting invaded is retarded. The PvP is just two morons strafing around with the shield waiting to get a backstab opportunity.

The adjunctor was pretty easy. Anybody know what mythical creature he is based off of. I know the Octopus man is an Illithid.

I’ve had a Black Phantom invade my game, then spawn RIGHT in front of me with his back to me. :bgrin:

Blue Phantom in the Nexus just left after I talked to him a few too many times. I think he just goes crazy and kills himself.

I haven’t really found a good use for the firebombs outside of clearing away minions during the Phalanx boss fight. I think they’re weak against fire. I threw all of my firebombs at the guy, made things even easier…I don’t regret not saving them or anything, they’re largely useless for the rest of the game. Either they’re too slow to whip out or they don’t do enough damage - sometimes you’re better off just stabbing them in the time it takes to throw one.

I wish I still had my long sword +8 instead of the Morion Blade.

On the other hand, I’m using a moon winged spear +5 now…spears are crazy! How was I not all over these things before, they are so useful and long ranged.

False King is killing me right now, I need to rethink my strategy against him. I think I need some lighter stuff, I need to roll faster against this guy.

The funniest blood stain I’ve watched is during the first time I played, there was a blood stain next to the pit with the weird swirling blue energy in 1-1. The guy just stands there at the edge of the pit for five seconds, takes a step forward and falls in, and then end of blood stain. After that I was like “Okay, better not jump in there.”

has anyone been able to hit a significant fo with the soulsucker spell??? like can you hit bosses and black phantom npcs with it???

i tried to do it to the old, and i was right behind him but it never grabbed…so im not sure how its supposed to work…

As long as the enemy holds still long enough for you to do it, it should work, although I doubt bosses would be killed by it. The only boss I can think of that you might even hit with it is the Adjudicator after you’ve knocked him over. Maybe Dragon God too but it would be annoying, assuming it’s even possible.

I use it on the black phantom dual katana skeleton in 4-2 during pure black world tendency. Soulsucker + ring of avarice will net you a ton of souls, and you can also equip the silver gauntlets (female only) and cast soul thirst (if you have 6 spell slots to equip both it and soulsucker). Depending on how much of these things you use, you can get about 120 to 140,000 souls in less than two minutes (the evacuate miracle is highly recommended), and you can equip the large soul of searching in your other hand for better item drops. I got my dexterity up to 80 from doing this every now and then for the last couple days, it almost feels like they expect you do it and as far as I can tell it might be the only reasonable way to get all stats up to 99 without wasting a ton of time (it’s still going to take several new game pluses and a long time to do it.)

I am planning to try soulsucking the special black phantom Selen Vinland in world 5, I will report my success/failure when I do. She is the only unique black phantom I can think of that is in a position where you might be able to pull it off. Maybe Satsuki in 4-1 as well but I already killed his ass.

You can also use it on Nexus NPCs if you are doing assassination quests or going for black character tendency. I used it to kill a certain person before they started causing mischief in the nexus.

Edit: I just had a ridiculous fight with Old King Allant in new Game+. He had been giving me a lot of trouble, I would get him down to about 15% or less and then mess up and get killed in one or two hits. Finally I got him down to like 8%, and dodged one of his big-recovery moves and rolled in for the last few slashes that would have easily ended the fight- and my weapon broke. I had to quickly open the menu and swap out my broken hiltless for one of my spare daggers and dodge through a bunch of his shockwaves to get back in, and then he hit me and brought me down to like 5% HP. Fortunately I managed to roll through his next attack and finish him off with a two-handed stab to the gut. Overall it was probably the best boss experience I have had in this game so far.

I’ve turned shrine of storms into pure black world tendency so that I can farm chunks/pure bladestones and I notice that when i quit the game and load it back up my world tendency changes, it looks like it goes +2 (-2 Neutral) or something.

My character has an almost white tendency appearance, could this be the reason why my world tendency doesn’t stay pure black? It’s annoying wasting e. stones and then having to die all the time. FYI, this change has happened twice.

Are you playing online? There are a number of known world tendency bugs when you play online, especially if you quit while in the nexus. I play offline when messing with all that.

Ah thanks, that could make sense. Yes, I always play online and I always quit in the nexus. I just couldn’t figure out why my WT would always go back towards white when I would do nothing BUT farm stones (ie. turn WT pure black, farm, take break, repeat).

first things first, her sword is called blind, and it pretty much negates shields. if you have a bow(sticky compound bow+5 preferred), your best bet is to stay on the walkway and snipe her until she’s at about 25% health, then jump down and melee her. she’ll try to swing at you a couple of times, but she’ll mostly back up to try to heal, which is when you take your pot shots at her. i did this and got my final shots in when she was in the middle of healing. any other advice for traversing the first part of 5-2? first time going through was a bitch, and i need an easier approach.

What was hard about it, just the poison swamp? There are a couple cheap miracles that cure poison, so snag one of those and make things easy on yourself. As for fighting in the swamp, just use arrows to kill things from a distance as much as you can, and remember you can lock on to the mosquitoes for easy arrow kills. For the giants, kill other nearby enemies with a bow and then fight them on land. Just two-hand a sword, wait for them to attack, and roll through it, then punish them with a hit or two, back off, and repeat. Just be sure to stay on land, and consider the ever-useful warding spell if they still give you trouble.

WHAT WAS SO HARD ABOUT IT, NIGGA???!!! lol.

minus the cheap miracles and two-handing, i did everything else stated above the first time. and i was talking about the first part of 5-2. i almost went full gloom armor, but decided to stick to the black leather armor set instead, as well as ditch the thief ring for the poison resistance ring. then again, the first time i went through, the world was pure black, which meant black phantom giants. it was a bitch, even with warding backing me up.

lol I didn’t mean it quite like that, but let’s go with it.

STEP YO SHIT UP SON, THIS AIN’T NO GAME

ya i couldnt beat selen the first time through so i thought i would do it the 2nd time when i got the soulsucker, hopefully ill be able to do it…the video i saw on youtube this dude lured her to some dry land, then use this spear that had fire added to it like as and upgrade or something and it was doing MAD damage like wtf damage…and she couldnt even move…

for the swamp part you can also equip the health recovery ring and the poison resist ring and it basically negates the poison swamp…

You can just stand way off to the side like a bitch and shoot arrows at Selen until she dies. She might occasionally try to chase after you, but you can just run off a bit and she’ll give up. If she tries to heal herself she has to go through that real long miracle casting animation and you can just keep putting arrows in her face to interrupt it.

I just want to use soulsucker on her to see if it can be done.

I just got this game and it’s just tits. Had a hard time through the first level/archstone but it was very rewarding! I have an exam a few days from now so I can’t do much in the meantime.

I’m currently playing as a Temple Knight. What stats should I focus on? I keep hearing that “Faith” is really good for TKs but how so? and should I upgrade my initial weapon, the polearm, or wait and upgrade better weapons later on?

Thanks.

I’m assuming a TK starts with a miracle? if so, then faith raises the power of miracles. Otherwise I’d say raise strength slowly because you only really need it for equipment(AFAIK), the rest kinda depends on your play style if you like to use a bow then dex is good, magic is good for a mage, and so on. Starting classes are really only about starting stats, equipment, and spell. After that you can customize them any way you want to. You could make a barbarian into an awesome mage with enough soul levels
