Greatshield of Artorias is pretty stupid, makes a lot of fights non issues. Off the top of my head everything else has a standard version that’s better and can usually be buffed with magic/resins where boss weapons cannot. Great Scythe>>>>Lifehunt Scythe for example.
Not sure about exact order, that’s always gonna be debatable, but Great Scythe, Giant Club, Uchigatana, and Gargoyle’s Halberd definitely deserve to be there. Not sure about the others, I preferred the Bastard Sword over the Claymore, and the Moonlight Great Sword is fun but I don’t think it should be that high. The projectile it has is kinda egh and by the time you get it you have some ridiculously powerful spells for ranged making it kind of impractical, plus you can’t use magic or resin effects on it.
You know I don’t really have a problem with getting close to him, I spent most of the fight pretty close to the guy, my problem was how impenetrable his defense seems to be cuz he just goes AOE>AOE>AOE>Swipe>Back Dash>Lunge>AOE>Swipe>AOE>AOE, just dudes just fuckin spamming those wide as fuck AOEs it feels like all you can honestly do is dodge backwards, and try to bait out a swipe and hope you end up behind him. It doesn’t help either that he’s got two of those fucking AOE attacks, why the hell does he have two attacks that consist of nothing but a really wide wall of fire? And him being unable to take damage from the front feels arbitrary as hell. He doesn’t have armor up there or anything, it’s like they made his butt hole his weak spot just to be a pain in the ass cuz they know you’re gonna struggle getting behind. He just doesn’t strike me as a well designed boss. He has an arbitrary weak point and and then is programmed to spam attacks that make sure you are never able to get to it.
Gonna give him another few goes tonight tho with the advice you, and I think Martian imparted. I actually got pretty close to beating him twice the other day doing my strat of waiting for the lucky chance I end up behind him, which was a crap shoot of dancing with the guy for 15 minutes, I only quit cuz getting back down to him caused me to fall to my death, which cost me 8.5k in souls, I was mad bitter. But yea I think with this new info in my utility belt i have a better fighting chance against the guy.
Great scythe is very popular, definitely worth learning how to use. It’s one of the weapons that demand you learn the moveset though.
I picked up DeS because that $11 sale on PSN, played a little bit of it today. Very solid game and I love seeing where DaS takes influence (like copy paste scenes) from.
I’m glad that they scrapped all the heavy exposition and disconnected world stuff though, DaS feels like a complete world where DeS feels like a video game imo.
Also, I took down the 4 kings today so I’ve been celebrating the only way SL1 can, by invading in the burg and giving items to low SL players .
So what are your guys plan for Dark Souls 2. Like are you planning on going two handed or magic. I’m probably going to go for 2 handed light weight build or something and probably max my level at 50. One of my regrets for my very first play through of Dark Souls was grinding to +100, which made the game a lot easier.
I’ll probably get up to sl120 on my first run since I suspect there will be lots of pvp around that level as carry over from das.
I’ll see what’s available on my way up there and hopefully I’ll have a build that’s not horrible for pvp, but I expect I’ll put in quite a lot of hours so it won’t be a huge deal.
My first runs of the previous 2 games I went knight/tank and then on my second run went full magic. Think I’m gonna start part 2 as full on magic first after reading that you have two strengths for spells and can now shoot spells in FP like you can with arrows.
Just like in the last two games, I’ll probably be going with wanderer, so that means I’ll be using whatever one-handed swords (a scimitar, most likely) that are available, plus a shield.
If you talking Dark Souls sniping them with the upgraded burst firing crossbow (I forget the name, think it starts with A, find it on a bookcase in the crystal place) is pretty fun and effective, 2 non-blocked bursts is enough to kill most.
