Demon's/Dark Souls Thread. Dark Souls II!

I wanna play that!

Finished up Anor Londo, got that shit to warp between fires. Sweet! That place was a pain. Getting past those two fuckin’ archers had me smooshing/twisting my controller. Mad rage, but I was hype after finally getting by those bastards. The bosses were pretty tough and kept kicking my ass. So I summoned a couple dudes to help me fight’em. Shit was easy that way. I didnt really like Anor Londo all that much. Its kinda pretty but it seemed kinda boring to me. I liked Sens Fortress more. Anyhow, gonna farm some humanity for a while then warp to some of these place I dont know.

p.s. Pretty funny today. Some dude invaded me and I could tell he would kick my ass so I ran away. This dude chased me around for almost 45 minutes before he finally gave up and left. I was crackin’ up the entire time.

Edit - What is a good place to farm souls?

PVP.

Thats not a place…

If you guys care about 100% completion/all souls, you need to kill Smough first before killing Ornstein. You can do this the other way around(which is imo, easier) but it will make NG+ playthroughs harder if you have to fight Ornstein last. You’ll get Ornstein’s soul/gear if you kill him last and vice-versa.

@dirzzt360 The forest area where you see that cat. This is the #1 farming place next to a specific farming spot in Anor Londo, though to access the Anor Londo farming spot you need to do some specific things beforehand. Souls scale in each NG+ too, so the forest area keeps getting better and better for Souls. I used a spell that makes you take damage over time but increases your damage by ridiculous amounts when farming that spot. Made things faster, but riskier.

If you got a Soul of Avarice from Anor Londo it will boost your soul count by 20%. Farming the forest w/SoA will net you 8300 souls per minute, it’s quite handy I get 100,000 souls every 12 minutes or so.

Another good spot is at the bottom of Tomb of the Giants, where those skeleton babies revive. You can also farm humanity from them I think so ideally this place is better than the forest, but the forest is quicker if you are just looking for souls.

I’m willing to bet most of the invaders are dragon head abusers, 99 to every stat. The best one’s are the guys that invade at strategic choke points just to fuck with your game. On my game somebody invaded near paladin leeory lol very smart hahaha.

PVP is the entire world of Dark Souls.

No, its more of an activity that you can participate in, in the world of Dark Souls.

I cant even fuck with most of the people that invade me. They one shot me, even if I block their attack, it jacks all my stamina and kills me. I havent invaded anyone as Im not really set for pvp. I never read no wiki or anything so Im just doing what I want when I play. Fuck, im still in the gear I started the fuckin game with.

Invading in Sens fortress is hilarious stuff. Especially when people turn on their invulnerability scripts for PC and fuck up anyways.

Example being the first few minutes of this vid

What does it mean by the “you were indicted” phrase? I never indicted anyone.

Ryu Hayabusa is rolling and slicing niggers about

Dark Souls is no Match for him

It’s a badge of honor for invaders given by people who feel that the invader is a dick.

Anyways it marks invaders to be invaded by people within the Blade of the Darkmoon covenant. Sorta like the police. The more indictments you get, the more likely you’ll get invaded by one of them. There’s also a top 50 or so “most wanted” with guys that have the most indictments.

Dudes that are inside the Darkmoon covenant are blue instead of red when invading lol. It’s possible for a guy to be invaded normally and then get invaded by someone from the Darkmoon Blade at the same time. Also the invader and the Darkmoon blade guy are hostile towards each other; so it’s pretty much a 3 way brawl if that happens.

I really hope Blades of the Darkmoon return in Dark Souls II. They are my single favorite covenant. That may have something to do with the fact that Darkmoon Blade is the single most powerful weapon buff in the game. Shit is ridonculous at covenant level 3. Hornet Ring + Darkmoon blade on a faith/dex build, that’s the cheap shit. Throw in a spear or an estoc for attacking while blocking for maximum rage in pvp.

What more can I do with this build?

I’m thinking of turning my Chaos Zwei back into a fire one. This gives both a fire/lighting combo with some pretty good weapons to boot (one that won’t scale with humanity), my fire zwei was a beast and lighting great scythe hammers Titanite Demons. Gold-Black armor is very neat, I usually keep it in my inventory but the lack of upgrades really hurt it.

Are you aiming for pvp? and what are you using in those attune slots?

Just remember this: in terms of armor with Wolf ring + anything with 6+ poise and you can tank at least one hit from anything before being staggered, or you can just get better at dodging and wear what ever you want either way. Also don’t worry about humanity since if you pvp you’ll probably have 99 without even trying, also I’d probably switch out one of those weapons (Keep the scythe since its fucking awesome,) but the Weilder or Furyblade can go.
If you want a really good Secondary weapon I’d go Shotel since it bypasses shields.

I’d ditch Sanctus too since the hp regen is pretty shit on it, but in terms of shields since you should be 2 handing everything it’s just what ever one you think looks coolest.

I do want to make a PvP build, but I also want to use that build to beat the game since virtually anything can work in PvE

Attu. Slots - Great Combustion, Firestorm, Great Chaos Flame, Power Within, Combustion (27 gives me two more slots). You are right about the Great Scythe it’s too good to pass over, I guess I’ll ditch the Zwei in PvP since people are really good at dodging that thing (stunlocks like a madman though). I will need to buy another Shotel since I used one to make the furysword, not unless I have another one put away in my box.

Normally I use the grass shield + two hand because the stamina regen shits all over the HP one. I guess the Sanctus is there just to stack as many HP regens as possible, works pretty decent with Gold-Black set with Mask of the Mother (extremely solid resistances, but poise is awful even with a wolf ring). I like to be over at least 90 poise for PvP.

You don’t need that much poise for pvp unless your dodging is just terrible, but if you want that much then go Wolf ring + 2 pieces of the havel set, and you should be set, also I’d keep attunement to where its now since imo 5 slots is far too many as is.

Pyromancer (should be in the offhand slot) is just a mind game to use against your opponent to keep them off guard you really don’t need any more than 3 or 4 slots with it. Even with faith or Sorcery more than 4 might be going overboard.

@ eren

Well I’ll assume that’s your only weapons so couple of questions to help get more benefit from that build *preferably should stay at that level so you can not miss out on end game pvp. Supposed to stop at 120 but 128 is fine lol.

First some things out of the way

  1. the 32 STR/38 Dex sorta implies you’re going for what I call a weapon master/Quality build; Can use almost any weapon and scale well with them if they scale off either STR, DEX or both. *Quality implies that a weapon scales off both STR and Dex, like Claymores.

  2. yeah whats the extra attunement for? not that it matters since its preference in the end so why not lol. Dark souls builds are very flexible

  3. Fire and lightning weapons? With that much STR and Dex? Kinda a waste lol not talking quelaags, that’s beast.

  4. for reference you can get pretty much max scaling from STR weapons if you 2hand *50% more STR if 2handed, allows you to use bigger 2handed weapons as well if they have high requirements

Ok so i’ll give some weapon and shield recommendations to add to your build that’ll complement it.

Spoiler

•Great bows - They scale off both STR and Dex, and you have the capability of wielding them. Great bow arrows are expensive but are totally worth it for pve and trolling for pvp. They hit like a truck and knocks down everything. Good range as well.

•Pharis bow/Composite bow - Pharis has a S scaling off Dex and has the longest range for a bow and off a head shot, hurts like a bitch. Composite bow loads the arrow faster than a pharis bow/fast fire rate, and scales very well with STR/Dex, but only good for short/mid range combat; not suited for sniping.

•Balder Side sword 15+ - Dex weapon, the Ryu of the game. Has a amazing move set and range for a sword. Nicknamed Balder Side Spear by the pvp community.

•Estoc 15+ - The somewhat the ST Guile of the game. Defensive Dex weapon that acts like a spear with it’s behind the shield pokes that do amazing damage on counter hits. Since it’s a rapier it does amazing backstab/parry damage; so it’s a functional dagger with a really good defensive moveset

•Abyss Great sword DLC - Swag as fuck moveset

•Gold Tracer DLC - Curve sword with absolutely insane dps. Like a falchion…with bleed!

•Katanas - enough said

•Murokumo - don’t have too much info on this weapon but it was well favored by pvp players. Worth checking out for the moveset if it appeals

•Large club - A notably good STR weapon for pve and pvp with a good moveset and hell poison attached AND buffable. *2 handed R2 is a cartoon classic 2 handed BONK. Can change the direction of it during windup for some lolsy mind games if someone tries to backstab you during the wind up.

•Demon’s spear - C/C for STR/Dex scaling, has lightning attached to it, uses twinkling titanite so you dont have to waste a slab. Go to spear

•Crossbows - You can actually fire them off the off hand; VERY useful for pvp

•Avelyn the repeating crossbow - Now this weapon deserves it’s own little note. It fires 3 shots in one burst and does MASSIVE burst damage if upgraded correctly. Go to upgrades the last time I saw, was lightning 5+ with lightning bolts expensive. I’ve been hit for 700 by this damn thing, the dude quick drawed it out.

=======

For shields you definitely need a good variety for pve and pvp

•Balder shield - LOTS of stability for it’s weight; 74 stability at 14+, weighs 4.0. Notable weakness is that it has a 20% magic defense rating so blocking magic would HURT

•Black knight shield - Heaviest medium shield at 6.0, but offers a staggering 74 stability ANNNND 95% FIRE RESISTANCE. PYROMANCY TICKLES WHEN YOU BLOCK WITH THIS THING. GET IT.

•Crest Shield - Medium shield with 66 stability, weighs 3.0. Pretty average, however it has a VERY sizeable 80% magic resist. Extremely useful against 4 kings projectiles are magic so you can just block them np, helpful on a quick swap for pvp if you meet a caster don’t block dark magic though lol you’ll regret it

•Heater shield. Lightest medium shield at 2.0, 70% fire resist is nice, 68 stability is pretty awesome for it’s weight, though what makes it stand out the most is that it has a “fast” parry. IIRC it recovers quicker than normal

•Target shield - Light shield that has somewhat weaker physical resistances and stability so not used for blocking. It’s used for parrying. Has a bigger window to catch someone with a parry, very useful since lol parrying online.

•Iron Round shield - Medium shield with HEAVY deflection; that trait is usually within the greatshield class alone. So if you want a shield with that trait AND a parry. Go for this.

Sanctus sucks lol. :frowning:

imo the stats dont look too wasted to me. You’re a couple points off for a min maxed build but its fine as long as you dont level further. You also have plenty versatility due to being able to use so many different kinds of weapons and even some unique ones; reason why I call it the weapon master build. You don’t have int/faith for buffing weapons but it’s fine lol.

Of course there’s also the issue of armor and rings but another time. Imo for armor its not a bad idea to just look the way you want or min max your weight so you can fast roll/not fat roll/use dark wood “ninja fucking roll” ring

Lightning/fire weps aren’t a waste with a quality, but its all weapon dependent, and if you’re going qual/Str/Dex build it’s better off just going with a wep that scales with those stats, and having a lightning/fire wep as an offhand one to play some sort of mind game.
