Demon's/Dark Souls Thread. Dark Souls II!

yeah… I’m gonna do that. I’ve been reading about that spot for a while.
gonna farm till I have enough for arrows, then the door, then murder shit, lol.

I’m very cheap when it comes to exploits.

Also, I got a bunch of humanity, like 10, but got invaded and lost it, lmfao.

So everyone here should check out this awesome Dark Souls blog.

It’s too bad you joined the party too late to experience the infinite soul glitch.

You might need it for Snorlax and Pikachu.

That Tumblr is so good.

Undead scared the shit out of me… :frowning:

can I Kill the gold guy for his armor?

Lautrec? You can get his armor if you wait to kill him…Killing him now would just give you a op ring.

Yeah, I was debating if I want to save it or not, lol. II didn’t
o well… Op ring is mine…
I’m sure there is kooler armor,

Now I have a sweet Gold arrow, a three green icon, and looks like armor icon.

I didn’t know what World Tendency was and I sent the Shrine of Storms black and had to look up why there was suddenly this guy one hit killing me at the start of the level and how to get past him.

Killing him early prevents him from being an asshole later. So its a good thing he killed him early. I think it’s one of the very few NPCs or the only one that you should kill asap.

Yes that ring is amazing. Just careful not to take it off as soon as you put it on. It breaks if you do.

It’s one of the best rings no doubt, but the trade off is a ring slot. If you’re going for end/vit, it’s going to be even more useful.

It’s mine.

Nice work! Love all of the concept art.

Yeah he’s like Yurt in Demon’s Souls, killing him as he gets out of the cage saves you trouble later, but leaving him lets you get his armour (her armour) and you can pay him for some extra information on Petrus to unlock some story stuff.

Keep in mind that “straightforward and more understandable” may simply mean that they are going to explain covenants (for example) better. Explaining what stats do, different shield class parry windows, and taking a lot of the weird guess work and wiki time out of the basic mechanics. It doesn’t necessarily mean they will dumb it down and make it easier. Maybe a better menu system, less clunky inventory, or better multiplayer support? Maybe more lore will be available directly?

I’m still apprehensive. Trailer looked a little too actiony.

There was no shield in the trailer, which makes me nervous. Yes I know its just a trailer but I’m just saying. The cover of Edge also has no shield… and the combat in the trailer looked a little too “balls to the wall”. Ripping out arrows (which might be cool if you have to heal yourself ala MGS3 style?) and just sort of ducking dragon breath… I’m scared you guys. Irrationally scared of no shields.

An emphasis was placed on dual wielding in the trailer.

Enemies suggest a main antagonist, which in turn suggests a more character focused plot, which ruins everything! Your characters personality is perfectly blank for you to live through. In DeS/DaS theres no dialogue from him/her to sway your decision making in any way. Its completely organic and perfect. I desperately hope this doesn’t change.

All in all, it still had that heavy sadness that I expected and its still the same team from DaS. Different director, sure, but the people above him are still in place and the original director still has some input. I’m hoping for a departure from the previous titles, but still the same heart and soul that makes them so great.

Please, God, don’t let the world ruin the last thing I love.

Watch this,

I just beat Artorias for the first time…

GOD DAMN! What an amazing fucking fight that was.

I actually think an easy mode will hurt a Dark/Demon Souls game’s multiplayer functionality. Because doing this will actually split up the player base in 2 different settings making it harder to find compatible good games (and it already was annoying enough to wait for an invasion or a decent summon to connect). Also another thing it will effect balance. If you played RE6’s agent hunt mode (similar in concept but you control an enemy monster), you should ideally play on at least normal or harder. If you invaded an easy mode game, you were fucked to say the least because the player was so much stronger than you because that mode seemed more balanced for at least normal games. If Dark Souls had an easy mode that invaders got into, that would ruin the feeling of fighting for survival against an living and equal opponent.

I know they said they limited play communication to keep the feeling of loneliness and dread, but I think improved multiplayer support would go a long way if they want to make it more welcoming. I remember when I was part of the SunBros, some people I joined would type out whole messages about how they don’t know what the fuck they are doing and trying to figure out some game plan (The plan is usually don’t get hit while I chuck fireballs and stab things). If people wanted an easy mode, having a helpful companion would improve a player and get them miles farther than just scaling down the difficulty. Maybe they can do something like expand the covenants and only allow communication in certain ones that both players belong too or something so others can keep the atmosphere in tact for their playthrough?

Dark Souls is KNOWN for being a difficult and very hardcore game. Why remove that stamp/title ?
Me personally i had never played Demon Souls since i dont have a PS3. So when i heard that this brand new difficult game was coming to the 360… I picked it up mostly because of what i had heard about the games difficulty. Since then i’ve been a big fan of Dark Souls.

A easymode would destroy the game imo , hope it never happens.

Think of it this way–how pissed off would some of us be if right after Demon’s Souls came out From announced that in the next game they were limiting the healing items to 20 max at any one time? How about if they said it would be easier to farm for equipment upgrade stones? If they said they were removing the hub structure and going for one open world?

I understand entirely the apprehension about the “more direct” quote but I’m choosing to trust From Software totally. They haven’t failed us yet, especially if you factor in the old King’s Field games, and I’d rather spend the time inbetween in eager anticipation than in fear and misery. Besides, if the worst comes true and DS2 is anathema to everything we loved about the first 2 games, then we’ll just keep playing the first 2 games like we are now.

You kinda made the wrong points there because those sound totally fantastic.

I was thinking the same thing  . Wasn’t some of the complaints of Demon Souls that you could easily have a lot of herbs to heal and that farming to upgrade was a pain?

I saw the DS II trailer. All I gotta say is: that dragon is an asshole. I’ll take great pleasure in beheading it when the time comes.
