Every day I play this game I am convinced it’s the closest thing we have to a nextgen Vagrant Story. Incredible game.
3-3 Boss
Spoiler
Old Monk was really interesting. The BP for me was a total scrub… I was convinced it was AI but after I defeated him I checked out ‘Players Met’ and he only has the Phalanx trophy. I just cast Grand Protection and it was a wrap. I was so care-free I actually had time to press start and hotkey some Soldier’s Lotus to deal with his bleeding.
How was your 3-3 battle? Did you get a free win or formidable player?
Yeah, I’m doing the first castle and I opened the gate that goes to the ramparts. Shame there’s like 8 enemies that swarm you when you go up there though. Oh well, this game pulls all the punches it can.
Evacuate is the best spell ever (okay, it’s miracle, whatever). With that I have a hilarious soul-gathering technique in 4-2 that is more efficient than anything else I’ve been trying. Now I should be able to grind all the souls I want to upgrade random weapons just for fun, at least until they start requiring rarer, non-purchasable materials.
Also the cursed sword Makoto seems way too powerful for where you find it. It does tons of damage and you can balance out the life drain by wearing the regenerator ring (in fact, it not only cancels it out but still heals you a bit, although much slower).
:u: If you’re referring to the 4-2 reaper farming, there is no reason to use Evacuate since you can just suicide off the cliff near the entrance and your corpse will be there or by the NPC merchant. You’ll be sparing yourself a loading screen by not going to Nexus, and when it comes to farming… it’s all about efficiency.
For those of you that are curious, with Soul Thirst and Ring of Avarice you can get ~9000 souls for 2 or 3 arrows worth at the first reaper spawn in 4-2. You can then suicide and start again. The process is 9000 souls per 1-2 minutes. I’m sure this is well documented from the importing community by now because it’s pretty damn good.
Yeah I suicide until I’ve got enough souls and then use evacuate when I’m done. It’s pretty funny to jump down and land on his head and then kill him while he’s stunned.
You can kite him and either get him to fall off the long stairs on the far right (by the blue knight/catapults), the cliff below the red knight/catapults or just get him far enough for you to run around where he was and loot the item there.
I didn’t beat him until I had magic, so it took quite some time.
Yeah, I was really looking forward to upgrading my weapon too. Thanks again for at least trying.
This game is truly a gem for the current console generation. It’s a shame that the game hasn’t received that much attention, because it definitely deserves it.
Ouch. If you want some payback, buy yourself 150+ arrows, grab the compound short bow (which I think is on the second tower), make your way back to the first tower, and shoot that dragon until he’s dead. It takes a while, but you get over 7K souls, and you can now go back to the first area and loot some of the items that were once being guarded by the red dragon (but still avoid the blue dragon because if you get too close, he’ll smash you with his tail, which is what happened to me, lol).
