Delta Red Debriefing: SSF4 Cammy Video Thread

Two of Cammy’s tough matchups from Super, in AE form, from #6 ranking Cammy player Shimiru Nigoru (沁汰):

Things I noticed:

  • Holy frame 10 Cannon Strikes. He almost makes her look like Super Cammy at times with the consistency and number of those low dives. He messes up like 3 out of 15 or so, not bad.
  • He uses LK spiral arrow (x2) to meaty the Guile after SA knockdown, instead of jumping. Maybe a better idea at times since jumps sometimes can’t be made safe after SA.
  • He ends his corner combo with mk arrow, and puts himself in the corner - from here he does jump back lk, but it looks like he could just as easily do jump back EX CS for the crossup. This is definitely something to test out.
  • He also ends his corner combo with st.hp xx heavy Cannon Spike, to keep himself out of the corner, and end up at the perfect distance to threaten with jump lk strike / jump lk crossup / empty jump cr.lk mixup.
  • He punishes with different combos: usually cr.lp cl.hp xx hk arrow, but also cl.mp cr.mp xx mk arrow. Don’t know why he avoids cl.hp cr.mp xx mk arrow or cl.mp st.hp xx hk arrow (2 hits), which should do more damage and also be fairly universal.

Very very smart play overall. We need more AE videos like these!

gimmicks. he hooligan himself to the corner into EX TKCS wtf. gimmicks. lol if he used hk arrow he would get the same effect only that he can jump out and lk or ex strike 50/50 crossup safe from reversal mix up. AND it gets you out of the corner.

no anti air. no frame traps. can barely do them 2 frame links. he doesnt seem to be able to 1F link combo. epic fail.

Frame 10 Cannon Strike (CS10? can I coin this? lol) is basically a 1F link, and I saw lots of those. I can see why he might want to avoid stuff like link far fierce xx arrow in combos, because if you drop that you take 200-300 damage, and if you hit then you get 30-50 dmg extra. It’s possible he values consistency above everything else and doesn’t want to risk losing a bunch of life and momentum on a dropped combo.

Anyway what I did notice was his constant (safe) pressure via CS10, good use of jabs, and good spacing. The other players were more likely to use invincible moves in gaps, so he frame trapped with Cannon Spike instead of normals, which is a more expensive/aggressive way to play, but it worked for him.

mp hooligan after backthrow is so legit. Kills charge, most people think it’s unsafe so they go for their best punish (throw, command throw, hit confirm combo starting with low short or low jab).

way to lose the corner advantage and watch your opponent walk away. FAAAAAAAAAAAAAIL!. there are better ways to pressure honda and especially guile at the corner.

dont get me wrong i use mp hooligan after backthrow. but not at the corner its almost suicide vs guile omg if he gets out you will chase him again and be put into that awful zoning boom strategy ALL OVER AGAIN.

EDIT: i thought our main goal vs Guile is to :

  1. have that initial knockdown cause Guile is so free on wakeup
  2. get him close to the corner and pin him there FTW.

i disagree.

he tried also to jump strike honda at the corner… again FAAAAAAAAAAAIL. doesnt work on honda he can walk away from it. same as balrog. you cannot hit them with corner strike unless you do it low which is not possible in AE only ex. and at times he successfully landed ex strike only to FAIL the followup combo close lp whiff FTDROP!.

i have so many problems with this Cammy. i dont think he’s good example.

This Cammy is a great example of how AE Cammy can be played. Yeah he made some ??? decisions. In the end, it worked out in his favor. I saw rushdown I’m very familiar with in SSF4. Watching those 2 matches I’m actually considering using Cammy as my main in AE.

omg i dont see what you guys are seeing. omg he didnt anti air once. he didnt use those new damaging combos that cammy can do in AE. he didnt take advantage of her ++++++ on block to frame trap.

he’s not awful. he’s just **meh **tho. not good example. AE cammy is capable of more.

I’ve been playing around with AE Cammy. She’s not that bad. I’m pretty scrubby with her but I’m figuring things out.

I still play Cammy like I used to in SSF4, but I try not to use TKCS anymore. When I have the time and when a explicit combo list is posted, I’ll learn Cammy’s new combos. That’ll help me.

Hey, I’m trying to level up my game and was wondering if I someone could critique my play. Here’s a match I played against a random peron online a few days ago. Any advice would be helpful.

ok i like your play. some pointers:

  • my bnb on adon after confirmed strike regular meaty or ex is crouch lp stand close feirce into FAR Feirce hk sa x2.
  • i ALWAYS backdash on opening the match vs adon if they lk jk. you can far mp xx mk arrow. whiff punish. OR crocuh hp if they wall dive.
  • spike those jks on reaction . lolololol. punish with arrow on whiff.
  • oh please dont use light x3 bnb anymore.
  • meter management is important. CS FADC Ultra is ok. but CS FADC CS FADC Ultra is risky flashy drains all your meter and honestly not worth the damage. which minimize your future mixup game if they are still alive.
  • dont focus on adon. theres absolutely no reason to use focus attack in this matchup. adon got 1+billion ways to break focus.

EDIT: what strike did you use at the end??? did it crossup please check the adon input if he tried to block regular or crossup???

I’m working on getting out of the habit of short jab short bnb. I know there are better combos now, but I still retain that one from Super.

The strike at the end was a mk. I intended it to crossup, and from the input display the Adon player pressed :f::lp::lk: so he probably would have blocked it if he hadn’t tried to grab.
