Nah, you’re right. Klaus’ father was an old-era werewolf, not one of the first werewolves in existence.
I wonder if their origin somehow ties in with the Travelers, or something more along the likes of Native American lore (Skinwalkers or Wendigos). They could bullshit on casting, but I’d love to see a Native American actor take on that kind of role in the show.
Klaus’ first sired is just as sadistic as he is. What he did to Cami and that cop guy was really fucked up. Creative sure, but definitely all kinds of fucked up. Elijah’s compulsion pretty much explains why the first sired are all so similar to them all. Even after it broke, they still emulate them while enacting their revenge.
The Originals “winter finale”–ohooo I just thought of something there…major spoilers with the winter finale of course:
yep
[details=Spoiler]So Camille— it just hit me that she most likely is not “dead-dead”, y’know? I’m willing to bet that Aurora slipped in at some point and put her own blood into her…then perhaps compelled her to slit her own throat at a certain point after Nik either kissed her or they banged or whatever. Then…she wakes up in “transition” next episode.
This gets back at Nik for “daring” to love someone else…satisfies Aurora’s jealous streak there.
This also would serve as a way of harshly putting Cam in her place, perhaps?
This also serves as a roundabout means of insurance due to the sire-bond thing. With that connection in play, Nik then would realize that if he were to kill Aurora, that also results in Cam’s death.[/details]
…that reminds me that it would be interesting if they had more crossover action again at some point in the current seasons. I would like to see a “heretic” try to fight one of the Mikaelson (though it might be a bit lopsided; Originals are hilariously overpowered, and I love it) family or their “first-born” 3. It would be interesting.
Aurora – one of the hottest redheads ever seen on television. Then again, her only real competition out there is my honey Emily Beecham (strong contender for M5™ status with me) over in the “Badlands”.
*cute thing I noticed about her is how tiny she is… I remember that she had some really high-heeled shoes on in that last episode…yet she was still way shorter than everyone else on the show…heh, niiiiiice.
The Salvatore brothers changed around quite a bit over the years though… Stefan seemed like a sensible/stable one at first when he was a normal human, then went into a ripper phase… Then Damon became the monster for a while when Stefan went back to “nice vamp” status.
Nick seems to have been a monster with only occasional moments of benevolence since day 1. All 4 of them have had some interesting character development across both shows.
It is a shame they can’t do much more with Rebecca — I’m guessing they will do another body swap thing whenever she returns since it’s unlikely Claire Holt will be back.
I’ll always like Buffy/Angel’s version of vampires. They could look handsome/pretty with their normal faces, but headache-inducingly ugly when in vampire form.
You knew the moment they showed fangs they were nothing but monsters.
Y’know, even though I thought Sarah Michelle Gellar and Aly Hannagan were cute, and I like supernatural stuff… I was surprisingly not into tv-series Buffy (I saw the movie though). I watched a few episodes at the most…perhaps I’ll get around to it one day. I do find myself comparing the vamps of various shows and movies occasionally… TVD’s vamps vs. the “upir” species from Hemlock Grove, for instance. From what’s on the wiki, the upir are similiar but I think even weaker vamps like Caroline wouldn’t have much of a problem killing them. They seem less durable and not quite as strong in comparison. One advantage is they have no apparent weakness to sunlight though…but that’s about it. The compulsion power on TVD/Originals is better too. Oh and the werewolves…that’s even more lopsided. Peter from HG just seemed to be too much like a regular human, while CW wolves have certain superhuman abilities all the time. The transformation on both shows is about even in terms of how terribly painful it looks.
the creators of the TVD and TO shows probably got most of their inspiration for their supernatural characters from The Gates. Can’t believe The Gates only had one season!!!
Yeah, I was one of the few that was watching The Gates… That show had the incredible Rhona Mitra on it…that plus vamps wolves and other supernatural stuff made that show a winner to me. I think it’s still on Netflix.
I’d recommend watching both Buffy and Angel. I can honestly say that damn near every character went through some kind of growth or change as time went on. There’s gonna be some hangups since it took place in late 90s/early 00s, but most of it still works.
Haven’t seen Hemlock Grove, unfortunately it’s just something I missed out on.
Saw The Gates too, it aired on ABC in the summertime.
I even remembered the cliffhanger ending it had. Yeah man, that show has do much potential.
Hemlock Grove is a mixed bag; very strange show…imagine a Twilight Zone episode that became its own thing. Also, just mentioning that species was unfortunately a bit of a minor spoiler…part of the appeal early on was the mystery there—constantly wondering “what the hell are these people?!” Peter being a wolf is something they reveal right in the 1st episode though. It is a Netflix show so all 3 seasons are on there.
Nah, I’d doubt it— isn’t TVD still one of the top shows on the network in terms of the ratings? I think they slid a bit since Nina isn’t there anymore but it’s probably still one of the CW’s leading shows…(though I think story-wise, Originals is a bit more interesting at the moment but that’s just me)
*I’ve been missing the shows so much I started looking up the music --that version of “Silent Night” (haunting, somber in tone) at the end of TVD’s winter finale was a perfect choice for the scene
yea
