And then watch the video of ChrisG going 3-0 over WindZero and watch how WindZero blatantly fishes for happy birthdays with random supers and goes full retard with XF3 Jill, among other things. The man has never had a legit Jill, and how can you if you play her on anchor?
Saying WindZero has a good Jill is like saying that people who regularly win with anchor Vergil have good Vergils.
Jill is a bad anchor, doesn’t mean if you have an anchor jill that your jill is bad. Only thing i saw that was stupid in his jill play was him using her lvl 3 outside of a combo, but i believe he used it because he thought he had a confirm. Don’t think chrisg knew she can’t block during that hyper either.
Best way to judge a good jill is by viewing other jills, which their aren’t any, especially in anchor position and in general high level play.
Chrisg 3-0’s many people, and it comes to no surprise that he 3-0’d windzero later. Windzero can be the best player in the world, but he suffers from the worst team composition i’ve ever seen, and his team simply won’t get him anywhere. his win against chrisg was against anchor doom and an unprepared magneto. Chrisg had bad team composition in his first match with windzero, and he simply payed for it. Too much reliance on morrigan in that team.
Also, as far as i’m concerned, you could have the worst combos in history with say zero, but if you have the best resets, incoming mixups, and general neutral game, you have a good zero. I think windzeros “bad jill” you speak of is being held back by a lack of assists that the character desperately needs.
You don’t play XF3 Jill the same way you do point Jill. XF just does the same thing for Jill that it does for Vergil on a lesser scale. Turn your basic techniques into instant kill tools to win the match back.
I’m not talking about his Jill being bad as in he makes tons of mistakes with her. The way he plays her, if you watched him at Evo and have watched him before, is brainless. Random super. Did it hit? X-FACTOR! Spam Arrow Kicks. Did you finally get a hit? X-FACTOR! Etc., etc. Yeah, he gets wins off of that and you gotta respect it, but that doesn’t mean his Jill is good.
I do think his Chris is alright, though.
There are good Jills out there like Alukard and Paulow3b, and while they don’t necessarily qualify for playing on a “high level”, neither does WindZero.
Does it really count if you have to rely on the extra damage and speed of X-Factor to get this all these down?
There’s no point to argue about Jill in a Morri/Doom thread for one. Honestly her XF3 game is probably her best shot against Chris G’s team any way because of super to XF3 bday stuff and win the match with TOD’s off incoming.
Mashing out machine gun sprays is really her only method of getting in. Her arrow kick is cancelable into feral stance, so it’s like berserker slash into berserker charge on block or hit. I’m seriously trying to think of other things to do to get in without blowing x-factor for the speed boost when you really want to save it for guard cancel or a hit confirm. Honestly, without assists to help her, it’s the only ways for him to try and get in. She has no air movement outside of her knee drop, so super jumping isn’t really an option either.
As for relying on extra damage and speed of xfactor for the resets, mixups and neutral game, that is the point of most anchors. Strider is a rare sight outside of anchor position because he is easily outclassed by other point characters you can choose from, and he doesn’t have the best mixup setups solo either. It’s the same for jill. While she is anchor, she has no help from assists, and she has a lot of issues that need to be accounted for in that sense. Strider at least has ouroboros to fall back on when he’s out of xfactor, but jill doesn’t. If your playing her as anchor, you really only need to learn her as anchor. If windzero can benefit from anything, he needs to start abusing her crossover counter and learn to play her outside of anchor, but i do see he won’t want chris as anchor for sure, and once chris is dead he’s running zero, who he could put as anchor but won’t be giving jill any help either.
He has really bad team composition, and due to that he only needs to know x-factor jill. If he wanted to learn strange as a point character with bolts, he could then have a good reason to CC and play point jill, with bolts as an assist and strange anchor, and will then benefit from learning jill outside of XF.
As for on-topic: morridoom is figured out. Chris prone and magnum doom all day lol.
Lol. My friend was saying this too. If I’m not mistaken, 2 of Chris G’s last 4 defeats have been to Chris players (if you exclude Richard Nguyen beating him in a set in Grand Finals at a Runback Chris G ending up taking the resetted bracket 3-0). Can Chris actually put up a fight against MorriDoom, or was it just PS3 the random loss that happens, as Chris G had beaten them back (I know he beat Senior Taxi in said runback tournament, though I think you guys have said he beat Windzero 3-0, though I could be misreading or misunderstanding).
Still, I was actually quite impressed with how effective Justin Wong’s team was against Chris G. Wolverine/Akuma is still very much viable, and I love how he uses the tatsu assist with Storm.
Well my best team is chris/haggar/dante and my friend has been using morridoom/vergil recently, so i’ve been able to test the matchup to a great extent. Haggar gives chris the support he needs from morrigan rushing in, and dante jam session with some incendiaries lockdown, finalizing with machinegun for some decent chip damage. Magnum out-prioritizes soul fist as it does anything else, and just 2 magnums (magnum, SJ magnum) takes doom to near half-health. prone makes morrigan use air fireballs giving a moment to call dante for some more chip, and pretty much everything mentioned can be done on reaction. Only problem comes from doom missiles making it out for chip-strings from morrigan.
Dante in this team gives a great answer to doom if he doesn’t die before morrigan, and also gives some good incoming options against vergil, and worst case scenario CC into haggar is powerful against vergil, and upon hit any level XF equals to no meter kill on him. If you ever get a combo on morrigan, chris gives great damage without hyper before you go for a snap to take care of vergil so he can’t go derp later on, and without him willing to blow XF chris has haggars cover from helm breaker, incendiary for lockdown and an easy catch off a quick helm breaker into haggar assist, and if your bold hard tag to dante while vergil gets locked by incendiary for a combo-able overhead (gotta be quick before incendiary drops him).
Also found out that H force field from magneto will be ground level astral soul fists, while jump height from morrigans normal fly off the ground is too high to hit magneto standing. Doom missiles interrupt this strategy and you have to detour, but it helps time the superjump air dash up, take the missiles, fly and morrigan can’t do anything until you come down, effectively wasting astral vision time. Didn’t test L or M force fields at all, so they may work too. just random side information i wanted to share seeing no tourney magnetos use force field against morrigan,
