Dee's Nuts: The Definitive Match-Up Thread

Some more options that Bisons like to do. If you’re in the corner, Bisons like to anti-air ex-headstomp since it’s difficult to walk out of it and force whiff like in the middle of the stage. If a Bison hits you with this, he may (rarely) whiff ex-devil’s reverse next time for low/throw gimmicks.

After scissor kick, some Bisons will throw the cr. mk or cr. mp but rarely since it’s easy to get counterhit out of these (neutral after scissor kick, cr. mk has 5 frame startup, cr. mp has 7 frame startup). It’s more common after knockdown since you can do it meaty.

My personal strategy against DJ is to just spam cr. lk xx scissors pressure since it seems like it’s difficult for DJ to deal with this. Aggressive Bisons can do ex-sk (blocked) FADC cr. lk just to get in. Some will do ex-psycho after blocked scissor kick if they expect you to push buttons.

And all scissor kicks are pretty much safe if they hit on just the tip (not sure about ex). The problem is that if you notice this pattern, you can focus the one hit and punish big or force the Bison to hit you with two hits which leaves him at AT LEAST -5 (if not lk scissors).

this has probably been said, but I found out that you can lk dreadkick and it will beat anything that Bison does after cr. lk xxx scissor kicks and trades with st. hk. Try it

dude I wish…

cock-tease.

:wgrin:

nope swear to god.

reversal lk sobat hops right over cr. lk and cr. mk and hits him. St. hk trades. Maybe he did it too late, maybe he didn’t, but I was able to get a trade. St. mk beats it clean though. So yeah… fail on my part.

lk upkicks totally destroy st. hk and st. mk. I wouldn’t get use to doing it though because you know how good bison is baiting that shit out.

Slide goes right under st. hk, but again, don’t get use to doing it alot.

reversal lk sobat also beats another scissor kick and a non EX psycho crusher (but why would you do that?).

Reversal lk sobat will get owned by a good Bipson

Can anyone give me some help with the DeeJay vs. Chun Li match? I’m having a lot of problems dealing with her pokes. Chun Li, Dhalsim and Seth are the only 3 characters I have a real hard time dealing with. ANY help what-so-ever would be absolutely great.

@Cee Dizzy check out my post from yesterday about best options after a blocked scissor kick. I went in the lab and tested everything out really good. This is just until they adapt to you then maybe they stop pushing buttons, or maybe they find a way to punish you and make you stop pushing buttons.

It’s basically what beats what if you and them push buttons at the exact same time, like the first frame possible.

@KatalepticLegion, I’ll try and find some useful posts from this thread. edit: can’t find anything so I’ll just go off the top of my head. I’m no expert with the chun match though.

Vs Chun:
-You can out fireball her with HP fireballs and make her come to you. If she focus and backdash then push her back to the corner.
-Her pokes will pwn you, I’m not really sure which DJ pokes can beat chuns, but cr. HP is pretty good for beating stuff.
-You can LK sobat her hazunshuns on reaction at least offline. Focus is good when you predict a hazunshin.
-Don’t throw fireballs when she has U1.
-She’s pretty much always safe if she does focus and dashes in so don’t try and mash or throw to beat her. Just late tech.
-If she goes for her df. HK flip kick thing, where it hits you on the other side, you can do st. MP to hit her. But if she does it on wakup just block, or upkick her if they time it wrong.

Any tips for keep-away Akuma’s and pokey Balrogs? They give me a lot of trouble.

Don’t forget to never MK HK EX dreadkicks when she has u1

balrog, turtle him full screen with air slashers, if he does turn punch u can time a free slide for a knock down to start a vortex

what No Cigar said was right on. I generally just try to stay out of her pocket where all her pokes beat yours. She usually wants to be in cr. hk range, so just stay out and pressure with fireballs and the occasional sobat.

Be careful anti-airing Chun with upkicks, since she has different jump trajectories and aerials than most in the cast.

She’s not great on wakeup, and her best option, EX SBK, does barely any damage, so I go for that a lot.

I need to learn how to read before I post stuff. smh. Good shit

You can cr. lp/lk Chun out of a hazanshu too

Thanks for the help vs Chun Li. Some of those snippets really improved my game against her. It just sucks when you’re only able to play online and Chun keeps throwing out crouching LK/HK and then a Hazanshu, hard to block even with decent lag. Usually when she does her Hazanshu if I can catch it right, I dash back and slide/Dread Kick, or I just FA and get a knockdown/counter.

Also another match-up that is annoying for me…Cody. Any thoughts? It’s hard for me to get any counters on him after his Tornado Uppercut, and his pokes (which are usually C. LP and C. LK with a random Knuckle thrown in the mix for fun) really fuck up my game plan. Worst part is…I used to main Cody, and I never faced a DeeJay when I was playing him. So, any more idea’s?! =)

(And 1 more thing I forgot to add. Fuck Guy and his Elbow stuffing nearly all of my Upkicks!) That was frustrating in a match today…lol.

Cody’s not that bad. You win the fireball war against him, so you’re safe at full-screen. Don’t try to punish after his Criminal Uppers, and always, ALWAYS be aware of zonk knuckles! This means be very careful with your jump-ins, use a lot of safe jumps, bait them out. Zonk will also beat sobats, and short range air slashers.

Apart from this, Cody’s very weak on wake-up, so cross-up and knee shot cross SJ set ups work well.

His U2 is pretty easy to avoid. Be aware that you can punish immediately after he kicks the dust, before he starts swinging his wrench. Cody can juggle into U1, but it does as much damage as a chipmunk fart.

Cody’s damage output isn’t insane, so you should be able to pick away at him using normal DJ strats.

Cody has a lot of blockstrings so all you can ready do is be patient. You can try to get him in the vortex, but most codys downback a lot so be prepared to option select throw/tech after a whiffed crossup. You may wanna try dreadkicks after a tornado upper.

A lot of guys play a low game and dont really use too many pokes. You’re best bet is to zone them as much as you can and out poke them. Beware of the slides though because a lot of guys like to use meaty combo setups.

Also, don’t be afraid to neutral jump lk/mk/hk on chunli if you get her in a vortex after a knockdown to bait out the ex spinning bird. If you time it right you can stuff it for massive counter hit damage!

mashed/reversal time st. MK can punish a blocked a criminal upper usually if they didn’t space it perfectly. It’s not a big punish, but dmg is dmg.

I need help with Viper big time.

There’s this viper that I played twice and every time he’s just burn kick spamming mixups, and he mashes burn kicks during my blockstrings so it comes out if I try and tick throw. I keep forgetting to bait that, I’m thinking cr. LP > cr. HP to hit his burn kicks.

How do you play against her? I’m not used to her. I know stuff like EX dread over seismos, and sobats are safe, but what’s the game plan?

samething, outpoke that bitch with st mk and lk dreadkicks until u can start vortex. Dont be afraid to airslasher fadc and foward dash start more mix ups.

don’t think. knock her down and go crazy with safe jumps.

then if she gets out of the vortex just do sobats because she can’t do anything about them. they beat just about all of her moves

I like to U2 any stupid burn kick mixups. Like on wake up if she tries to cross you up with burn kick, auto correct U2 all day. Yeah upkicks are good too… usually the best thing to do is what Jcool said. Keep the pressure on her. And idk if it is just me, but on vipers wake-up, if she does EX seismo, i like to cr jab then cr mk. seems to beat it every time.
