Dee's Nuts: The Definitive Match-Up Thread

man fuck chun li cant jump in or air to air her for nothing

lol you can’t jump in on chun? all i do is jump on chun’s and they can’t win. they just get overwhelmed by my over aggressive deejay.

jumping all over changes the pace to a fight chun players don’t like.

don’t be afraid of ex sbk. it doesn’t do that much damage and if they don’t time it right you might take one or 2 hits.

ON wake up Kunai beats up-kicks. Doesn’t it? My issue at THAT point is which way do I block. Do I block the Kunai or the attacks from the other side?

Im really sure that that jump in w/ Kunai pressure beats MY upkick timing. What am I doing wrong?

^you need to reversal MK/EX upkick on wake up (sometimes its hard to time if ur looking at her, just look at you and do reversal). Reversal upkick beats Ibuki’s normal timed vortex, forcing her to not do kunai vortex, or do it late. If she does it late you should just block it normally (the kunai doesn’t cross up), and use LK/EX upkick if they’re still in the air, and if not just block or something.

EX Upkicks whiffs on most of the smaller characters after a c.fierce. I only recommend that combo you stated on sagat after you jumped a fireball, don’t use it just like that because you will get punished hard for it.
He’s got some solid BnBs, not all of them are damaging but mostly easy to hit confirm.
c.lp,c.mp(or c.lk or c.lp for ease) xx EX MGU juggle into EX Sobat, HK Fireball, EX Fireball, MK/HK Upkick (best damage)
c.lp,c.lp,c.mp,HK/EX Sobat (tight link)
c.lp,c.lp,c.lp,(depending on space another c.jab),c.mk (easy hard knockdown, but not much damage)
c.lp,c.lp,(sometimes one more jab),c.mp(or c.lk) xx Fireball (mainly for pushback if you want your opponent off of you)

If you are feeling fancy you can link cl.mk after a jab. I recommend you to do a c.jab after every jumpin unless you are sure it will hit, beacause most other moves can be reversal’d.

@SUPERNOVAX, there was a BnB discussion like a page or two back on this thread, but I’ll give you some stuff here.

An easy BnB would be like jump in > cr. LP/cr. LK > cr. LP > cr. LK xx HP MGU (or max out on block)

more advanced BnB’s would be like jump in > cr. LP/cr. LK > cr. LP > cr. MP xx HP MGU (max out on block)

or jump in > cl. MK > cr. LP > cr. LK/cr. MP xx HK sobat (max out on block)

Then just mix up from there. Tick throws/pressure/frame traps/tech punishing/baiting reversals etc.

Wtb updates. First posts are mad empty.

It’ll probably stay that way, but at the least you’ve got great Deejay players at the back end of this thread, all giving very solid advice. Probably better to look up the discussion thread if you need play advice.

In more current of a mention, I was playing some casuals against a Dhalsim last night, and I’ve got to admit I’m feeling less confident in the matchup. Vortex wasn’t difficult to implement for about three or four knockdowns, but just getting in once he breaks free is a nightmare. Even without sufficient Deejay knowledge, only times I was a threat to him was with one meter for EX dreads, and when I spaced kneee shot out correctly to land just short of s. mp and s. hk.

Sim is such a bitch though…

The kunai can only be thrown after the Ex version of her Dp. focus attack as soon as your block stun is gone. If a Kunai is thrown then you will absorb the hit and release your attack when she lands. She will crumble and then you follow up with whatever.

^ dam didn’t even think about that.

I’ve been frustrated by that too. There’s a lot of golden tips stuffed deep in the threads, it really needs an advanced strategy discussion thread and a revamped matchup thread with all the information right at the front.

I’ll volunteer to fill out a new matchup thread with information from the current matchup thread(s) if someone tells me how those drop-down menu things work!

^To make spoiler tags just do

spoiler="character names"
then write w/e you want
/spoiler

then put [brackets] around the first and last part.

It’s cool with me if you make another thread, but you might want to ask other ppl too. I would like to see compiled info on first page, basically just gather the good stuff from in here and put it on page one.

I have no objection to someone compiling a lot of good information for my benefit

Bison bait tip #3414: if bison has meter, knock him down; lk sobat as bait, if he reacts with ultra 2 you can do neutral mp to punish!

Might need more testing, but it has worked a lot of all the bison’s i’ve played, but then again im stuck at the 2k-2500pp to 4000 -5000 bp range. I keep losing to guiles and boxers =(.

Bison tip #2468: You can punish a lot of his wheel kicks with lk xx airslasher. If they start running away to do st mks and hks when you try to jump in, walk foward and bait the kick and then slide.

Chun li tip #1234: If you’re afraid of her pokes and block strings, just back dash! some chun lis always go for 2 jabs and tick throw, try to learn either a back dash and cr mk or step back mk.

Balrog tip #5678: Punish dash punches by doing a mid or full screen air slasher (hp) and then slide.

also has anyone found a good use for close st hk? i was thinking maybe it works wonders on jump happy giefs? i dunno.

i AA’d with it once when somebody neutral jumped.

Chun Lis are very likely to follow c. jab jab or c. short short with a sweep on block instead of a tick throw. I got caught by it pretty often so keep in mind that backdashing is pretty risky in this situation.

It AA Akumas ex Demon Flip and it stuff certain characters neutral jump shenanigans.

^elaborate plz

Some players like to abuse characters like Dee Jay or Honda by crossing them up and then follow up with a neutral jump. That tactic doesn’t always work well with advanced players but however… It hurts mediocre level charge character players that rely to much on Flash Kicks or EX SBK.

Adon players uses this tactic the most and it can be stressful for Dee Jay. Guy is another good example with his elbow drop. If you don’t have charge, Guy will abuse the elbow over and over. The only way to stop it is st. mp or close st. HK
