Can someone put a video together showing these set up and jumps please
Saw some matches of the #4 .jp ranked Dee Jay player (AFUP) yesterday, and every time when he does a ex sobat (when having enoug spacing) or does ex upkicks, he does a follow up with LK upkicks. Might give us new setup opportunities or new safe jump setups?
Check this vid for his gameplay:

optimizing meter gain.
After cr.mk you can whiff:
L.Sobat: 35 frames + Cl.mk 16 frames
L.Jacknife: 37 frames + Cl.lk 13 frames
M.Jacknife: 40 frames(?)
2x Forward dashes: (19+19): 38 frames
To bait dp’s, but I usally just whiff L.sobat and go for meaty pressure. Looking at the frame data L.jacknife actually gives 10 more meter than L.sobat so your better off whiffing that.
But sick Deejay, I have to try out Ex.mgu frame traps their wakeup.
What about fei long? I’ve traded a few times because of the hitbox on his dp and ended up eating a chicken wing. Or am I not timing it correctly? Im pretty sure all of his dps are 5 frames.
What setup or safejump where you trying to go for? You should be able to safejump fei long its just a matter of getting the timing.
Combo 10. I guess I should try a few more times…
I could hardly make sense of that setup well…
*I could only get the setup to work if the lk jackinfe knocked fei long into the corner then the follow up mk jacknife would corpse *
fei long making his dp whiff
You could try this:
>cr.lp, cr.mp, lk jacknife
>Hold up
>Nertual jump HK
You’ll knock fei long out of his LIGHT and **MEDIUM **dp but hard and Ex will still hit you
or this

But all jacknife setups require accurate spacing and a standing opp.
Ok good I’m glad I wasn’t the only one who was having problems with it. I still don’t like how Fei Long can hit you when you are behind him (with his DP). Doesn’t happen to me very often but it has happened. lol =/
Eating a Fei HK and EX dp hurts a lot.
What are Deejays untechable knockdowns? Id like to create a jackknife>cr.hp meaty setup
If it could be a mk.jack that crosses over into the meaty, that would be sick.
Cr mk, cr hk and of course a forward throw.
isn’t lk sobat a untechable knowndown also?
no
Dude…
oh my bad dawg

Works in the corner better than anywhere else.

Works mid screen.
Loses to EX Flame kick, reversal timing lk flame kick.
Discovered this in a lab session yesterday looking for some safejump to use against Yun:
Setup is f.throw, whiff cr.mp, deepest possible j.mk.
After testing it on the cast, it’s actually really useful in general, here’s a list:
Works on:
Yun
Honda (forgot to test U2)
Makoto
Dudley
Gen
Dan
Sakura
Dhalsim
C. Viper
M. Bison
Cammy [j.mk whiffs due to delayed wakeup timing]
Dee Jay
Cody
Yang [bait due to wakeup hitbo/invul bug?]
Blanka [j.mk whiffs due to delayed wakeup timing]
Rufus (all SS whiff, all MK blocked)
Vega
Adon (Autocorrect tends to foul up u1)
Rose
Needs more testing:
Guy (armor cancel u2 needs testing)
Fei Long (Test U2, autocorrect seems to foul the input into EX Flame Kick)
Abel (Situational anyway as EX TT beats it, EX CoD needs testing)
El Fuerte (Ultras require more testing, incl armor cancel)
Doesn’t work on:
Guile
Ryu
Ken
Ibuki
Akuma
Oni
Evil Ryu
Situational on:
Chun-Li (autocorrect super beats this)
Seth (safe to DP but not EX SPD)
Gouken (safe to EX Tatsu but not EX Parry)
Juri (Beats all but EX Counter, Causes dashes to autocorrect)
Hakan (U1, U2, Oiled EX SPD beat it)
Zangief (U1, EX SPD beat this. U2 is hit out of prejump)
Balrog (U2 beats this, finally a use for that stupid thing)
T Hawk (EX SPD, U1 beat this, Super, U2 whiff, Tomahawk Buster blocked)
Sagat (Only Super beats this) [safe jump functions as bait, does not connect due to wakeup timing]
Just a thought Mike, i’ll let you put the rest of the idea together. I like making ppl think.
Regular air attack landing is 4f
Empty jump landing is 2f
knee shot in the air can just create a world of setups depending on height and all that other fun stuff
Here are some further developments and my thoughts based on your comment:
-
Spidercarnage says that a Melbourne player named Ricecooker came up with an adjusted version of this setup that stuffs Ryu DP (possibly other 3f ones or the characters the base setup doesn’t work on) by timing the j.mk a bit earlier. This was forgotten about for ages with Ricecooker switching to playing Adon and Spidercarnage playing ST over SF4. I’m going to sink some time into verifying Ricecooker’s version of this setup as my schedule permits.

In terms of frame count, this setup should be able to be mixed up with empty jumps for more vortex/mixup opportunities, though figuring out the properties that allow Guile and Ibuki to be exceptions is also going to be worth some time.

If this setup is built around hitting a deep j.mk, there are a few possibilites for accompanying knee shot setups. Things that I’m thinking of testing are whiff instant knee -> low/meaty, the possibility of a 4f-safe front hitting knee safejump, as well as looking for “unblockable”/cross-up/reversal-stuffing knees on other characters; though these will likely have character-specific timings.
Jcool: If I’m missing some other possibility from your comment, please let me know either on here or Twitter.
I caught this on video and may upload it as well, but the f.throw, cr.mp, deep j.mk setup can work on Ibuki, the timing on the j.mk is manual and slightly different, within 1-2 frames of the one that works on Yun/Guy, but certainly not the same. Guile still beats either so far.
Also, f.throw, whiff cr.mp, empty jump is generally a safe empty jump. Ryu autocorrect super will beat it, probably Chun/Sagat as well as SPDs, but other than those sorts of situations, it works as such.
f.throw, whiff cr.mp, whiff j.mk also functions as a reversal bait jump.

Also, if you wanted a setup to do some safe knee pressure against Ryu, here’s a tentative one:
