You have to be patient with it. you can’t just do it on a reversal otherwise it won’t autocorrect. you also gotta know that it’s something you can hit them with on a crossup. something like ryu’s j.rh is sae enough to not get tagged by it. It’s a nice thing to do, but it does have a high risk-reward scale.
Once I have the execution down I’ll work on trying it versus a couple of situations I expect to run up against in the tournament.
Knowing when to use it is obviously something important I’ll need to work on, but being able to do it has to come first.
Well its good against cross up tatsumaki, Bison’s psycho crusher, and also against whiffed DP’s or similar moves that end up on the other side. Just don’t do it too early, or it won’t auto correct.
I expect to run up against all the examples you mentioned, so that’s encouraging, thanks!
Good luck, tell us how it goes!
Shoutouts to Threi landing dash ultra.
sigh there is no where to counter ryu’s jumping crossup lk
lk upkicks don’t work?
nope the ryu I played last night kept getting me with it. He kept trying to set up a vortex with it, but i still beat him.
If lk upkicks doesn’t work because he’s literally right above you, then standing close mp is often a good call. See if that works!
st close mp is goodlike vs dhalsim teleporting
True say
Yeah if teleports low to the ground you can hit him with MP, and if he does it high, you can do neutral jump HP. So yeah, on reaction to teleports low = MP, high = nj. HP, on ground = punish or slide cuz they’re not safe.
this kinda belongs in the matchup thread though
I guess I should learn wake up fadc back dash because im not getting a charge sometimes.
sigh did yall find a easier way to do dash ultras yet? =P i was only able to do dash ultra twice, but without the set up =/
I’m actually not even trying dash ultra until I get an arcade stick. Walk U2 is not ideal, but I muddle along. Half my matchups I’ve actually been using U1 anyway (heresy on the Dee Jay forums, I know!)
I just don’t see how U1 is beneficial to anyone except pad players.
If you have meter, ex sobait out of those cross up situations
Still trying to do ex air slashers into u1 =(
Anyone hate getting knocked out of ex dreadkicks by a poke? I wish he had ex armor =(
What matchups do you use u1? i personally dont find it useful in any matchup, it’s pretty crappy at going through fireballs and its really slow. I know it punishes ryu sweep up close but good ryus dont sweep you like that. ex slash to u1 is for some reason way harder than ex slash to ex sobat even tho u1 is faster, and I find dash u2 easier to do than that. U1 doesnt punish blanka balls and only punishes hondas fierce headbutt so its not really useful in those matches. I think some people will never be able to dash u2 but walk u2 is doable by anyone with practice, and you can legitly hit it often. U2 is also a good reversal when u just mash it out, u1 is too slow to work well that way. U2 stops jump ins, you can u2 after focus crumples, u2 punishes a lot more moves than u1 does. It’s just a way more versatile and useful ultra in every single matchup as far as i can tell. Can you guys please explain to me in what situations you prefer u1?
