I’m pretty sure we’ve all been there man…I know I have. I’ve lost to scrubs plenty of times, and raged so hard once that I broke my damn ipod. The best thing I can say is just keep playing. Win 20 times or lose 20 times in a row, just keep playing.

And yeah, that should be common knowledge lol. Though I’m sure some people think you have to constantly mash it for EX MGU to get all the hits, when in reality you only have to hit it like, 2 or 3 times? I forget the exact number.

lol sounds like me. Focus attack spammers…I dunno…Sumtimes I try to beat the focus with sobat and it trades…and you’re at a loss becuase you get crumpled for free damage. Junk kinda sucks. I spam standing Mk and it seems to have cut down on people focusing me.

And i didn’t know you could mash MGU until about a month ago… I felt stupid as well.

In those games doing a machingunuppr from a crossup combo could lead to an instant dizzy…which means death for some characters in those games. Yeah we Need THAT junk back :stuck_out_tongue:

I’ve been using cr. jab, cr. jab, st. mk > hk/ex sobat a lot.

One time I used cr. jab, cr. jab, st. mk > hk sobat FADC cr. jab st. mk light sobat. I felt cool as hell. stylin’ on 'em.

I want to adapt that standing mk into my bnb but I just havent put the time in to learn the timing from cr.lpx2…I’ve gotten so used to going for cr. mp. It would probably easier to do mk…also giving me less of a chance to drop combo into super.

Is there an issue with hitting that combo you use on shotos? Like trying to get the first hit of standing mk to hit so you can cancel it? I hate using cr.lpx2 and not connecting exmachinupper cause the get pushed back too far.

I ask myself the same question. People always say that he is good in AE but how many matchups in his favor? probably about 3-4 out of 38. How many matches is not in his favor? at least 10

I think we can all agree that picking up yun or fei would put us at a trremendous advantage put deejay is just so satisfying to play with. When you win its glorious and its not like he’s god awful. You just have to make twice as many good reads imo.

i just have too much pride to pick up another character seriously for tournaments.
i honestly like that no DJ has done well in a major. Capcom kind of looks at those things so maybe they’ll buff him in the 2012 edition.
Honestly the best way to fix Street Fighter IV is to go the guilty gear route and give every character something ridiculous to use.
i’d still say take the S tier down, but bring everyone else up while staying within the “norm” of that character.

smaller hurt box on knee shot. i’ve tried to jump behind people with this move from an ambious distance and have been caught by things like Chun’s fierce.
counterhit on fireball recovery is asinine.
Better U1
his normals are fine, they could be better, but if i wanted to play an op character there are plenty to chose from in AE lol
maybe more stun? Am i the only person rarely getting stuns are good players?
maybe ex air slasher more useful

Bring back zoning
Leave crazy rushdown to KoF
SF signature has been about controlling space and its almost non existent in the game.
Stop listening to complete scrubs in this game capcom. i understand some of it, but talking to top players and character specialists.

i think ultra one should be more useful for fireballs, definitely higher stun and higher damage specials. Akimo does alright haha

I don’t know what it is, I’ve dabbled in several other characters, but I just end up back with Dee Jay. I really don’t want to drop him to learn another character…but that’s just me.

If U1 went full screen ala Chun li, or if you could do U1 from mgu and get all the hits minus the full animation; DJ would be eh okay in my book.
I also wish lk sobat to be airborne, close hp had better uses, even though sometimes I get people out of focus with it.

I’ve tried playing just about every character, but i always end up back with dee jay. Once you go black… :stuck_out_tongue:

As for a 2012 patch wishlist:

  • I think i would like to see U1 fully combo after exMGU, hell if balrog can land an ultra after a regular headbutt why can’t DJ after an ex move?.. but then again, i like to dash U2 cause it looks flashy

  • A overhead would be nice. maybe st.RH

I can def dig an easier to land ultra 1…I’d love to see all that damage it can do actually connect.
…I’ve been saying that counterhit hit damage on HIS fireball is retarded for a while now…His fireball recovery aint THAT nice.

I think they should adjust the pushback on his jabs a bit. It’s a little hard to hitconfirm combos against shotos and smaller characters for me…But that’s just me…I’m def a scrub at this game.

As a Honda main, i can honestly say that you guys put a tremendous amount of effort in as Dee Jay is a difficult char and was a major disappointment to me since super (having played him in ST) I really do recommend someone making a dedicated “Dee Jay” wishlist thread. It may seem far fetched to think that someone will see it like Ono, but this stuff gets seen and heard by people all the time, every other character forum has one.

Honda players have dealt with nerfs but DJ seems to require a lot more effort to make up for his not so great damage and hard to combo ultras.

Personally, i think U2 should dash forward automatically, allowing you to connect mid screen with ease. It wouldnt become OP as in using it to punish, you can make it vulnerable so that it can only be used for comboing after EX MGU. Nobody can deny although its currently possible, it requires a lot of practice. I know there are going to be people saying its easy but it puts people off wanting to learn the character, this makes it harder for new DJ tech to evolve due to the lack of numbers in players. But then again, im sure you guys stick with your char as much as Honda players…you like being the underdog, dont want to be swamped with everyone playing your char :slight_smile:

Like others have said, also make U1 combo fully off ex MGU, adjust some damage here and there to make up for the new ability. I really think sorting his ultras out gives him a needed buff without unbalancing him. In fact, i think a lot of characters could be sorted out by looking at their Ultras and why they are under utilized.

my wishlist:

I wish U1 was useful, it does the same thing as EX sobat, but suckier. If U1 could be made to have 8-10 frames start up, and/or connect fully if the first kick lands it would be awesome. They should make it comparable to Chun or Dudley U1.

Make EX MGU cover more horizontal range. I’m tired of having it whiff after a combo due to wierd hitboxes.

Also changes to sobats would be nice, like giving the throw invulnerability on LK sobat back. Or making them start up slightly faster, or 1-2 frames less recovery. It sucks when your like about to sobat somebody and they stand throw tech and it just grabs you because the sobat moved you forward before it hit. They should make them unthrowable until they hit.

Great input guys. I said U1 fully juggling. Make the damage distribution similar to Rog’s to keep it in check. I’ve been trying to utilize U1.
Have some matches where I land it and not against fireballs.
If you punish something with ex sobat then you can punish with U1. Like I mentioned in the matchup thread Against adon’s jugga kicks.
