a lot of the time with characters with 3 or 4 frame shorts you will tend to hit the guy out of his throw attempt. With Deejay you pretty much get thrown every single time because his cr.short is 5 frames.

Aha that makes sense now. So should I be trying to stand tech when I sense a throw coming during a block string rather than crouching?

stand tech/walk backwards(I love this one)/mash cl.jab. sobat works great too but you won’t have that in AE.

so why is deejay ass?

i want you guys to put in your biggest complaints and i’ll try to counter it. I want to start an argument with someone who thinks deejay is ass and be able to defend him.

close st. mk leaves him -3
standing anti airs are situational. cl. st mp would be much preferred to far st. mp. St. hp is just way too slow.
armor break specials are slow. I’ve been focused out of dread kicks for free so many times.
MGU and Upkicks whiff some of the hits a lot.
specials are way to negative on block.

fei long might not be a good example because he gets good damage off of pokes and counterpokes.
if its bad then it doesn’t matter how negative it is. don’t use it. similar to st. roundhouse. its -8 so you don’t throw it out there.
if you’re focused out of dread kicks your opponent doesn’t respect you. seems like a personal problem.
similar to mk x hadouken from max range, its not a true combo from certain ranges. it pretty easy to tell when you’re going to whiff mgu. try canceling to air slasher instead.
way too negative on block? if you want to use specials anytime you want you should try Rog or Bison. lp dash punch is -2 and lk scissor is 0. its called spacing
Slide deejay players are using slide wrong. yes its negative but if its bad then you’re not using it in the right situation. seems like cammy’s cl. rh. only supposed to be used for air. if it hits OTG is like -22 or something like that. The move is fair though because too many characters have good sweeps. it should be risk reward for a knockdown.
EX fireball is good for pushing people out and into the zone you want them in. if you’re saying its bad its because you’re using it like an idiot. it does what its supposed to do. it is a shame its not like guile’s where you can just throw it out.
No decent pokes. i like slide, cr. mk, cl. mp, cr. hp. they are all “decent” pokes. if you want to just throw pokes out i recommend Rog, bison, chun, honda, and fei.
Rufus doesn’t have decent pokes, but jwong and top rufus players make it work.
If you want to be spoon fed wins there is a tier list you can use. just start from the top and work your way down =)

seems like all scrub complaints. i’ve surpassed these problems through hard work and dedication. you can do better than that.

not really, 14 frames isnt too bad. Ryu’s Tatsu is like 12 frames, but he has to commit more in order to use it compared to us. I just hate that the 2nd hit doesnt break. and why is EX sobat slower? it should be the same if not faster.

no, that goes to seth, whos at a disadvantage on hit. we get like +5 on block, it may be one of the worst to use in fireball wars, but its THE best one for combos.’

but most of the other things are good reasons.

-NO quick reversals.
one of my biggest issues. when someones in his face, he struggles bad to get them out.

  • Not a lot of options against ground wakeup mix-up. My biggest complaint.

  • Second hit of EX Sobat whiffs A LOT when used against Fireballs.

  • Knee shot motion. Hell I know it’s my execution, but I even saw Akimo miss it sometimes and do the infamous jumping light kick lol… A least it’s fixed in AE.

Anyway I love the character and will stick with him till the end.

My new favourite corner combo - Jump HP, Stand close Medium Kick xx EX Air Slasher, Close Standing Medium Punch xx EX AS/Sobat/HK Sobat.

It’s great fun and the close medium punch feels easier to link to me than the classic stand LK or c.LP. You can also link a c.LP xx EX MGU U2 after the second EX Air Slasher but the scaling kills it so it’s not that worth while.

I prefer starting with Jump HK (10 more damage) and finish by EX MGU Medium Up Kick*2 in the corner, most damaging 2 bars without Ultra I can think of.

MY favorite (NON practical) corner combo. Ive only ever completed it like twice ever though.

Jump in HP/HK, cl.lk xx EX AS, (st.lk xx LP AS, cl.lp, cl.lk xx EX AS) (loops up to 3x) cl.lk, cr.mp xx RH sobat.
Damage should be about 500. been a while since Ive tried it.

my favorite practical one though, is.
cr.lk, EX MGU, Ultra 2.

I can’t remember 100% if this is the actual case but I felt the HK made it so I didn’t get as close as I wanted to them in the corner and I’d get pushed back a little bit more than the HP.

And yeah, I was gunna write the EX MGU to 2x upkicks but that’s kind of a given after EX MGU.

I didn’t even buy the game lol. I can’t play the VS games on a competitive level. Plus, I plain just hate air-blocking :stuck_out_tongue:
